OMG!!!! DAVID BELAMEY MADE IT ALONG ON THE RUN!!
-
Leave it rich for a moment longer on overun and on throttle closure will give you pops and bangs, its harmless when a pro mappers does it.

In my impreza which is modded and in my leggy which is mildly tuned I use 10w60 fully synthetic which has never let me down. I use castrol edge. Some will argue that you are better off with a heavier "cold" viscosity and if you decide thats what you want the 15w50 is what people go for, either silokene or motul. If you want a recommendation I would say any good synthetic 10w60 is the way ahead. Callum W

Ill hear the reports. Sorry I couldnt get up to say hello, interior is still awaiting cage and dash is about to be flocked so the Falcon is acting like a wee greenhouse up the side of the hoose. I was going to do the fuel rails as well but Demon Freaks forgot to send me an essential bit. Callum W -
Ok, now here is the true account of what actually happened. I went round to the parrots cage to allow cheech and chong to square me up for the brakes. Grunt had made a poor attempt at fitting his brakes and i didnt have the heart to tell him that the rotors were on the wrong way round. While he was away nursing a burst knuckle and making the tea, Andy and I sorted the disaster area out , bled the brakes and allowed him off on a road test. The squirrel squinted through his purple haze and thanked us. This was all done with a 1903 vintage brake bleeding kit..

Great! Cant wait to read your report. Shame you cant add the ring trip to your video collection. Callum W -
I use sard, alot of the highpower subaru boys use SX. I couldnt get an SX at the time and looked at other options, many of the big HP skyliner crew used Sard SJ, one was available on ebay so I bought it and have absolutley no relability issues with it. Callum W

Let he who is free from sin cast the first stone. I have driven like a clown in the past, now that I feel grown up and drive like people should do I can now see what a dangerous activity it is. What happened to "Only a fool breaks the two second rule" never a truer campaign led by the boys in Blue. Any closer and you really dont have time to react. 2 weeks ago I was driving to glasgow on the A80. the speed limit was 50 dropping to 30, I had a lunatic in a focus estate right up my shuch all the way along the road but I let him sit there as I was not going to speed up for him. We pulled up at a roundabout and he put his passenger window down as he drew along side and shouted "Im rushing to get to my work and your holding me up you d**khead" I had a "Monk" from The mean Machine moment as I imagined dragging him from his car and beating him with the 7 iron I happened to be taking to get regripped in the back of my car, however I just smiled politely and said quietly "Your an Ar**hole". As we pulled away from the lights he pretended to try and swerve into me. I let it go. On sunday there I was on the same journey and saw the same guy in the same car. I followed him to his work. He was a policeman.

By replacing your standard pullies with light ones it means that the weight the engine has to turn is less, thus freeing up horsepower. Some people say that a reduction in weight of the pullies will unbalance the engine and that the flywheel should be lightened as well. Some people say you dont need to. Quick shift reduces the throw distance your gearstick needs to travel to get into gear so making it feel more gucci and it quicker to change gear. On an early box though some quickshifts beat the syncro of the gear making it crunch. Hope this helps. Callum W

Your car is an import and the law states that imports made before Aug 95 dont need a cat, same as a UK car built before Aug 93. Granted your car may be running a bit rich with the lambda issue, but when thats sorted you shouldnt fail if you are in that catagory. Callum

Oh God, What have we just done???

I only know of one man that I know has done it in Scotland and he has dropped off the face of the earth. Theres more to it than just soldering the chip on, On SN I seem to recall a few people offering to do it but they may have moved on to bigger and better things, you would have to send it off to them. Do a search on SN (Scoobynet) to check. Someone on here like Harvey may be able to point you in the right direction, he also posts on SN. Good Luck Callum W

It only showed 424 on the rollers Stuart, even though it was inconclusive, I still dont know if its 450, 440 0r 460. Numbers dont matter anyway its the pink thing behind the wheel and what it does that counts. Dont ask me to go to crail though because Im pants at it. Besides Ive pulled the dash out in preperation for the cage and im going to flock it, and it need a remap, and the mafsim rescaled, and the catchcan modded, and the interior painted and the new interior in, and the seat bars welded in, and the intercom wired up and the and the and the and the..................ffs. It may be ready it may not. Feckin subarus!!

Yes, hairdressers cars tend to be a bit like that.[]

Well done Stuart! Im glad it all came good in the end. Are you going to give me a run for my money??[] Callum W

What was everyone's first serious batch of mods ???
wilky replied to craig79's topic in Scottish Scoobies
the first batch of mods I did was a cone filter, decat and boost guage, according to a so called subaru tuning company whom I trusted these were the mods to get, or as I later discovered a way of making money out of me and helping my car draw warm air from under the bonnet. I then went my own way and made up my own mind, deciding to change the ecu and work with what I had, as I added more mods I could have it remapped. The ecu I chose was the possum Link ecu, 10 row, cheap, cheerful and proven. It was simple to understand, and i was very happy with it. I had any professional maps I had done saved on my laptop and I could have a go at map myself, always returning to a safe map once I had finished my fiddling. Then I added 4 pots. That was my first batch of mods. Callum W -
Fingers crossed Big Chap.

I look at all subaru websights. When I first got inolved in all this nonsense SN was the first sight I joined, and where I could tell you about 1.5 roller rockers and David Vizard, minis etc but knew little about subarus or what an intercooler was but SN was and still is a wealth of information. You can scoff at the "How to hoover your floormats" or "Another dumpvalve question" blurbs, written in pidgeon english. However at onetime I was asking questions like that and found that it was through that sort of stuff you learned about the cars. Then I discovered SIDC and joined the CLUB. The forums were dicovered and then all the scottish posters on SN revolted because someone was fed up with somebody and it was great to revolt and jump ship. Then we went back to looking at SN but not posting. I still cannot work out what went on but there you go. I still read SN, infact Im off to read it now. Callum W
