  1. Thats right Steve, the UK FN FAL or SLR as it was called only had single shot, and a 20 round magazine, you could make it fire automatic by putting a match in the sear but it was dodgy. some people put the LMG (Converted bren) 30 round mag on it but it made the rifle muzzle heavy. The FN FAL made in Belgium and exported to Rhodesia, Argentina etc did have a fully automatic mode on it. The Australians had a shotened version nicknamed "The b*tch" Dunno if it was general issue but that had full auto as did thier SLR I think. It was shortned for jungle work such as Vietnam. Sorry for going off topic Callum W
  2. No no, Callum the gun is the gunsmith Callum Ferguson, a legend in his own boresighting. I am merely a mortal, who hasnt posted for a while and who drives a mildly tuned subaru when his enthusiam and pocket allows. I just found SLR funny, to me it means Self Loading Rifle, it was the standard Rifle in the army from 1956 to 1987. Sorry for any confusion. Nice pics Cal, can you do passport photos Callum W
  3. Ahh yes, I got my first SLR in 1987, beautiful piece of kit, automatic single shot, the FNs used by other countries had a fully automatic option, it wasnt long before we had to convert to the SA80, or L85A2 as its called now but the SLR was a real elephant gun, 7.62 nato or .308 if you dont dig metric........................... Ill get my coat...............
  4. There is no shame in touching a goat now and again. Some users smoke them. Others Yodel at them. I personally do none of the above anymore however if it floats your boat crack on. This is a goat friendly forum. Callum W
  5. Outstanding. Ill be there. Well done Grant. Callum W
  6. Goodbye Zippo. You done good.
  7. 2.7 bar static.
  8. Dont think its 3 bar unless your mapped for it, Im sure its abit lower on standard fuelling. wheres the Squiggle when you need him?
  9. It takes a fair bit of buggering about to disconnect the rod between the actuator and the wastegate arm, unless the linkage pin had sheared. The fact that he has reconnected it and there is still no boost would suggest that the actuator is knackered, and leaving the waste gate in the open position,or the actuator is offering no resistance and allowing no pressure to build up. If this makes no sense phone me Paul and ill explain it. Also why was the arm disconnected in the first place? Now that its re connected maybe its not adjusted correctly and leaving the penny slack allowing boost to escape. Maybe the penny has come loose Im sure I read about someone actually losing the penny down the exhaust (The "penny" is the actual gate of the whole thing , ie the bit on the downpipe side of the turbo that opens and closes, controlled by the actuator which pushes the arm when the boost solinoid gives it pressure after saying "There you go! thats us at 15 psi better start bleeding some off or well blow the lot!") The actuator resistence can be checked by pushing the rod in the open direction of the wastegate arm, if there is hardly any resistance then its fecked, if its mega hard chances are its okay. If all is good with the above then start working back from there, boost solinoid, boost leak from pipework, boost leak from intercooler etc etc. My money is on the actuator or something in that area, seeing as it was disconnected. Its been ages since I even looked at a subaru so if Im wrong Im quite sure there are plenty people out there desperate to point it out. To them, get it up ye! To you Paul I hope You get it solved. Callum W
  10. Dont need your brakes Geo but this is a great thread. Brightened my day up anyway. Cheers Callum
  11. The GTR is very pleasant on the eye. Must admit the WRC impreza looks good as well, however the sti is lacking the usual Subaru "In yer face" look.
  12. Write it off and see how much the insurance company offers on a T reg wagon.

  18. Quite simple. Put all your lunatics and potential lunatics into thier own groups and keep them away from people who want to go slower. If the lunatics pile in, its thier own fault. Rather than have them in with slower people, and scaring the meek.

  25. Before you rant rave and bump your gums about talk about things you have no concept of or havent experienced until now. You can talk utter nonsense about extremist terror attacks, about how you would like to see culprits get this that and the next thing, you can be broad or as narrow minded as you like however, What about the 50 other failed attempts you never hear about. What about the people who work as you sleep to keep your country safe, who let things run until the last safe moment then put thier life on the line to stop it. To gain intelligence and help stop other attacks you wont hear about until documents are released in 50 years time when your dead and people realise that there was so much happening and no one knew. What about the people from these communities who risk THIER life passing information to the Security services to make our country a safer place in these times, who risk becoming outcasts to THIER narrow mindedness and reigious beliefs. What would your future family think if the police beat suspects, you revel when you see a just slap dished out by the police but you are outraged when it happens to you and you probabley deserve it. In 1972 the Animal Liberation Front blew up the toilets at the Edinburgh Military tatoo, everyone jumped to the conclusion it was the IRA and the reprisals on the Irish community in Scotland in an aready heated political climate were both severe and uncalled for. Your country looks after you,the people who do that sort of thing are actually very good at what they do. Why do you think they dont have any Ammonium nitrate ( fertiliser) to make bombs anymore and have to resort to gas and petrol and subsiquently no one was "Blown up". Be thankful. Callum W
