  1. Here's how it all looks Andi - Gauges! You can't see the boost gauge there though.
  2. Afternoon dudes! Just finished my carbon fibre panel for the gauges and head unit - should look sweet once I get a good surface finish on it. Has taken hours and hours of making templates and sanding/cutting/smoothing etc!
  3. Afternoon dudes. Forecast is crap for the weekend seeing as I've loads to do.
  4. << Nice one Jim dude , what is the 4th gauge M8.. >> Air/Fuel ratio matey. Want to fit it now but the weather's crap.
  5. Bah, think I'm out then as my mate is coming over from Dublin for a couple of days. Got my 4th gauge last night - need to get them all fitted now - going to look very nice though!
  6. Thanks Andi but I borrowed them last night off Bones. Rain forecast for this avvy/evening.
  7. Sweeeeeet Nick, enjoy them matey. I've been out to pick up spring compressors and rattle gun off my mate so I can fit my decent (hopefully!) front struts later this week. Sweeeet!
  8. Nice day today! Andi - look at the thread on my forum where you got the gauges. There's a link to a site where you can buy the bit you need to extend that pressure sender for the oil gauge I think mate. Gauges thread
  9. Yeah she seems to be matey, but even with the blistering va va voom it had before it's not right as it'll turn the engine into a grenade with so much boost!
  10. There's just no beating the noise of a loud scoob. Well I've been doing more stuff tonight... Fitted new O2 sensor Put Legacy forum stickers on Started cutting the carbon fibre headunit/gauges panel (that stuff is like bloody kryptonite!!) Extended the LEDs from my knock sensor so the unit is no longer on the dash, just 5 LEDs subtley fitted in the dash Cleaned the IACV Stuck one of my chips in the ecu I went for a test run after doing all this and all I can say is with the chip installed - WOW!!!! It's not healthy though because under harsh acceleration & load/boost the knock link goes nuts so I'm going to be taking the chip out again. The power seemed pretty nuts though - I think if I feed it in slowly it behaves ok in terms of knock but if you do full throttle accelerating it knocks like crazy. Dunno what the max boost it reached with the chip in was, but I saw the needle reach at least 1.5 bar which is (x 14.5) = 21.75 PSI!!!!!!!!! I think this chip is going to be pulled straight back out again as whilst that kind of boost might be good fun I really don't think I'll have an engine for long if I keep that up!
  11. << Sweet Jim, have things smoothed out though? >> Smoothed out? It's still got a dirty great flat spot off trundle speed if that's what you meant Dave?
  12. << Sweeeeeeeeeeet Jim Dude! Sounds good mate! Morning dudes! >> Yes indeed. Think my intercooler pump is shafted though, but considering how good it went this morning/last night I think it'll be ace when it's remapped and got the bigger injectors on!
  13. Morning dudes, gauge showed about 1.3bar in 1st & second this morning. Almost felt like the front wheels were about to lose traction for a second!
  14. Dude - don't tempt me!! Would love one but funds won't permit for quite a long time I think.
  15. Yes indeed matey. And the car makes some funny noises too! Sorry, I'll get me coat.....
  16. Nah, not the exhaust gasket. if that was leaking it'd be noisy through it and would possibly cause it to spike more I think. Here's the funny bit. I just grumpily fitted my tasty new boost gauge and replaced the cacky boost hose in the car with the new stuff and removed the bodged in feed to the boost controller seeing as I'm not using it at the moment. Just come for a very brief run and it was boosting just fine!! Hitting over 1 bar, (couldn't see exactly how much as it wasn't sustained boost) but it drove like a dream! Just wondering now if there was a leak somewhere on the cheapass previous boost gauge install with all the horrible half-assed connections it had. I think much more testing is required but at least I know now that even if it goes funny again that the turbo seems bang on from initial impressions. That would rule out the intercooler hose too. Am fairly certain the intercooler pump has packed up though as the cooler was hot earlier on andf they're not supposed to get hot at all. Thanks again for your help today Dave - very much appreciated.
  17. Dudes! Not sweet. Car is running a bit poo after just going out for a test run. I don't think there's a problem with the turbo itself as it seems to spin up ok but the car is really holding back and not delivering the goods. The boost is only getting to around 10psi in general despite replacing the split pipe, although occasionally it goes a bit higher and the car feels like it's about to go properly then it settles down again. No CEL or anything but something is very definitely wrong and it wasn't doing this yesterday. Can't think what could be up though. Huge flat spot if I punch the pedal from a slow steady cruise too. I think it might relate to that FSE regulator, possibly I've got the wrong pressure set maybe. It's currently a smidge above 3 bar at idle.
  18. Glad to hear that Richard! Dudes, a second pair of hands (and a jack seeing as mine is out on loan) would be, handy, today but can't get hold of Andi and I haven't got your number Dave. If either of you can help I'm on 463787. Am off out now though to get stuck in!
  19. Might take you up on that offer Andi.
  20. Glad to hear she seems to be on the bend Richard, that's a horrible & scary thing to happen. Hope all is well soon. Andi - Dave - all bow before the might of the stud remover. I'm sure it was laughing as it twisted the turbo studs out with ease just now. They are all out now, and the manky nuts on the up-pipe didn't really present a problem although I had to get medieval on one of them with a cold chisel & a lump hammer. Didn't even have to fire up the blowtorch! It's going on tomorrow.
  21. I wonder which plate that would be dude....
  22. Oh not that old chestnut!
  23. Normally aspirated? You fiendish infidel!! How can you talk of such torque absent screechy revving blasphemy!?
  24. << Jim Iam giving Dave dude a phone tonight , So I will let you know as soon as I do M8.... >> Sweeet! I think Jimmy is considering turning to the dark side also. I have felt a disturbance in the force that I have not felt since being in the presence of my old master...
  25. Yeah good plan mate. I think I need an adaptor for one of the oil gauges though. Boost gauge will be a piece of pees to do anyway seeing as stuff is already there for that. Any idea when you're planning on doing this so I can plan the coils/turbo etc?
