  1. Had bovver with me car last weekend, come back from harlow thurs night (17th) the usaul scooby way... and friday morning when it was barely warmed up...........smoke!!!...coming out of every hole on the bonnet and grill. ........... jacked it up and found oil all over the exhaust, chassis, arms...everywhere!, it had come out of the cambelt cover and spread everywhere, but mostly on the exhaust........hence smoke!.. so i locked my car away behind gates and used my passat, got hold of Andy.....understood my situation with getting the car to him....he came down last monday, had a look and drove it back to colchester.....and turns out we could of been neighbours!!........anyway he phoned me on the thursday, explained what was what, ok'd the job picked it up friday at 6pm all done!....it needed: cambelt, new oil pump,(roger clarke), crank oil seal, off side rocker cover gasket, and he put me sparks in!....£480......had a job cleaning oil up from around the under-side. he check my tyres and put air in them (apparently 10 psi isn't right!!) slow punture/s!!...anti-freeze, and washer bottle, ANDY!! you were born to work on scoobys!!.....and thank you for sorting it out when you did, i feel much happier now it's cured and gratful andy helped me out as quick as he did and picking my car up......... and that a great set up you got there mate, great place and lots of scoobys!!, give us a job! 100% happy.............got lost on way home!....but soon found way back
  2. << Hydrometer? >> ...that's the one!!!!............handy tool to have! hope harry's getting it sorted eh!.......
  3. first Besty..........then Burns...........R.I.P Richard, ........... keep an eye on george up there will ya! two legends..... at rest.
  4. I wouldn't tip it up, don't forget the acid!......go to halfords or simular and find out about this gadget that tells you how your battery is (it basicaly measures the density of the contents and tells you what condition of the plates) they should know what you want, like i said before this will also get the water safely out of the battery, .... distilled water is peanuts, same stuff you put in your iron or like me i have a de-humidifyer which takes out the moisture in the walls, floor, air, in your house, the end result is a bucket full of distilled water,FREE!!.............it's not dear......and a lot cheaper than a new battery!
  5. Oh!............what would i do?............i have a tool that measures the goodness of a battery, but can't think of the name of it, get one in halfords, glass/plastic tube with float inside with markings and a bellow on top to suck in the water, i would use this to suck out enough water to replace with distilled water (from halfords or a de-humidifyer if you have one) then top up to just above the plates!! tap water no good, just flattens it in other words, reduces it's efficiency.
  6. you didn't put too much in it did ya? just enough to cover plates, and not with tap or rain water!!
  7. blimey.......first thought was "oh crist hes cut his entire face off"..........but then realised you shave your head..........just imagine your hooter bouncing around in the hand basin after you cut it off............ it's ok..... i'm just hungry..........i get strange thoughts when i'm hungry!..
  8. I used to drink.....lots!...and got the ump when the bell went for last orders!!................but stopped drinking 5 year ago, i won't even get p!55ed at xmas now..............and also i live within 60 yards of a pub and it does my frickin head in, the noise, the screaming little chavettes, boy racers, under age drinking, and late shutting, they fall out at 2-3 am even though they 'close' at 1am. ...........i can't get no sleep!!!!!! thats the ferry boat inn at point clear, essex if we have any coppers on tonight
  9. had a few flurries in north essex, dry this morning and no frost or ice on the car...........untill i put the jets on to clean the screen ........... anyway my missus recons she got 8 inches last night..............strange it can just melt that quick though!...didn't see a thing................................................ oh!! it's raining now, a bit of a mixture, cold and windy
  10. man utd supporter.............he will be missed......he was told he'd die if he touched another drop.......poor old chap can have as much as he likes now.........true legend......gone back to heaven
  11. my uk turbo my96.. has 127000 on the clock and i'm having cambelt changed and new upgraded oil pump fitted, .......... because i had small oil leak on crank seal.....it's why these last so long! belt & pump just being done cause it's pratical, they just don't get a chance to go wrong!!.................same as any car....look after them and they'll look after you!
  12. clicky! looks ok mate, nice and clean, i bought mine last year in august, on a P plate my96 uk wagon, had 112000 on clock with fsh, paid £3995, wasn't perfect, but holding it's own now, (at 22b andys for cambelt, oil pump, sparks, oil seals, rocker gasket!) had oil leak so getting it all done while it's there as a precaution. try the clutch, as this is the first thing that went on mine, (weak spot) and have a good look underneath for a bit of off-road use, they take a battering and are strong cars, if all sounds ok mate the price is about right but get him down a couple of hundred it will make you feel better AND!!! done it yet again...........welcome to sidc and enjoy the forums
  13. i've seen a picture of a conversion somewhere, like that, but a bit more descreet, had smaller diameter pipes but run through to a different manifold, lost all it's burble too but sounded ok.......but.......i don't think scoobys look right with it........saying that... my mate went to earls court to see big J clarkson, and there was a new scoob with twin side exit zoorst......flames as standard too!!! thasssa mummma.....i'm not giving you ideas tho mate......it looks ok as it is (minnus it's twin!)
  14. If not then..................EBAY............... you should get your money back if you sell them on there!!
  15. something will turn up soon matey, ......... and yes back to the grindstone!!.......just had a week off......really not impressed about going back, but then i should be gratful, ...

  20. i don't use SN....but i'm "shocked" with their attitude!..........great to see some sidc members sticking up for sidc, i had the feeling with SN that it was like being at school....picking on the guy with nhs glasses with that bit of tape on the side!!.....or the fat one who can't do PE!.....they are very childish and probably focus more in acting large than giving advise!.....but i wouldn't know cause i'm not a member and won't enrol either...........you guys are very helpful to me and all the others new to the scene, i can't say anyone sticks out like a sore thumb with an attitude, if someone ask a simple question maybe so simple you laugh......but you give a sensable answer and help the poor newbie. now lets have a group hug!! thanks for being like a ..........family mark....
  21. did you see this footage?look out for the rabbit! oh...and the poor scooby!
