  2. a week today. am looking forward to this. Its been a while since I've eaten with you guys instead of serving you lot! []
  3. hey, do I need to keep an eye on you too Karps? Squirrel's hankering after a light saber that we bought.........
  4. we made our first shopping trip last night and presents were safely deposited at Karps's [] We're planning 2 more trips so if you want me to spend your donation money you'll get it to Ally or myself by Monday 4th Dec or Friday 8th Dec.
  5. Well done Billy. I've also got a healthy amount of money from my work colleagues at Mott MacDonald. Going on the 1st present shopping trip tonight [] i've scrapped my idea of dressing up as an elf but i reckon, as a minimum, folk should wear red santa hats on the day - helps get into the festive spirit and it shows that we are committed to Santa Cruise.
  6. Grant and I are coming along on the 17th and are planning to bring some presents with us. Is there anything planned for after the drop, eg going for a meal?
  7. what time will this finish Paul? I've got a thing in Glasgow at 1300 that day but I really want to come along and show some support.
  8. the difference here is that Peter is happy to let other people drive his car and make up their own mind and the forum is the only way these folk have to say thanks to Peter. sorry to be blunt but if you dont want to know, dont read the thread.
  9. that's spot on. The meets normally have smaller groups and everyone is a member of the forum = minimal fear in saying hi and looking like a twat the events have other members of the public there = increased chance you say hi to a totally random stranger that doesnt own a scooby and looks at you like a twat! it may be daunting making the initial contact and introducing yourself. You just need to do it once then things will get easier the next time you are out with us, as you'll get to recognise faces. If you dont try, you wont get anything out from the event/meet. its one of the reason the clothes have our usernames on them, helps break the ice []
  10. 1 - If your sidelights won't switch off look for the parking light switch on top of the steering column . 2 - Use the search function on the forum before asking the same old question . 3 - The best first mod for an impreza is the exhaust (backbox at least) 4 - Buy a newage 5 - Make sure you get regular quality oil / filter changes every 3 - 4000 miles 6 - Always run the car on good quality fuel - V Power/BP Ultimate/Tesco 99 and add octane booster for safety in an unremapped import 7 - Avoid "chip"ing an impreza - get it remapped by an expert like Andy Forrest (Apexi for classics, ECUtek for newage) 8- Sell the Newage and buy a Classic 9- Always wait till the engine is nice and warm before giving it full pelt and let it cool down befrore switching it off 10 - Upgrade your brakes before modding the engine
  11. nice pics [Y] car looks good in black and white
  12. the "other SIDC" is the nickname for the Kwang Tung (Peter's aka FAI17) restaurant in Paisley. it's become a hang out for the scottish scoobie locals
  13. doh! totally forgot about this well done Alan and good sum of money for Central Santa Cruise thanks to Russ and Duncan for donating such fab prizes [Y]
  14. i know that the cars will be decorated and that we will have a Santa but is anyone else getting dressed up ie red santa hats, tinsel, fairy lights, elf outfits etc? I'm thinking about getting a traditional elf suit made, bells on pointy shoes type outfit [*-)]
  15. hopefully soon. guy in charge of the weigh bridge in London road has been on holiday - want to check that its ok with him before we turn up []
  16. List of Glasgow area Santa Cruise attendees ... 1/Ally-b 2/Fai17 3/ imy 4/ squirrel
  17. Brian, how come you didnt drive scoob no 3? Jamie, nice to see you've got a classic again. It must be quite closely twinned with wrxmania's car [] can't believe you two are on your fourth scoobie []
  18. ooh sneaky!! here was I working out who to take with me when I win the off course prize for KH LoL
  19. to answer the original question, yes the gearing is high which makes motorway miles slightly .. er ... unusual I didnt want a car that had ridiculous top speed, I wanted the torque and the oomph when you accelerate. To me, it doesnt make sense having a car that can do amazing top speeds cos a) you'll get done for speeding; you'll probably lose it in a big way and injure yourself and/or the car and c) there is no where in Scotland you can go to get to those speeds anyway goodies that are standard in the RA include DCCD, 5th injector, short shift gear box, quick rack steering and lighter chassis and panels (god i've been hanging around Squirrel too long LoL) more pics can be found in my weight competition thread (which we still need to do BTW) here......http://forums.sidc.co.uk/forums/758973/ShowPost.aspx
  20. am wondering if the others are just watching this and then spark a bidding war when auction is nearing its end.......... [8-)]

  23. has it already been a year! [] it was a good day and a great feeling seeing all those scoobs at Glenshee. i still remember how bad I felt when, at the toilet stop at Crathie, the public toilets were closed and poor mrs. jc scoob was "with child" and couldnt go to the ladies [] (the last time we were up there for a run during the summer season and toilets were open)
