Al what vids do you have? might be wise to compile them all into one movie clip...
-
doubt it dunk. the weekend was a trial for us and we've still to agree which shows to attend and what kind of people will be there. we've got our preferred events but it also needs to fit into McRae Motorsport's calender, and there are a couple of diary clashes already

I'll do it and work in the footage that grant and I took. Al ScoUk, john jongleurs, when will you get your photos sorted and uploaded?

it was a long 2 days at the McRae stand. as others have said Saturday was a total washout, it rained steadily for hours, so much so that every time the wind picked up it would lift the water that had gathered on top of the marquee and dump it over the sides, sometimes catching people out Sunday was a better day and we had regular traffic through the stand. many thanks to "muscle man" Andy and to Dale for helping with the stand, it is appreciated thanks also to rallye6 for giving me a gas cannister for my wee stove, i needed it for my cups of tea managed to have a wander over to the SIDC stand occasionally, but didnt really see any of the stuff going on down at the track. i'm still slightly stunned that the McRae family let us take the Legacy and marquee over to KH to sell McRae merchandise - unsupervised

C&C get my vote. the guys are uber helpful. they did me a great deal for a centre section, backbox and tail pipe for my RA

aye, its the other side of Liverpool and seems to be a straight forward journey, M6 M56 M53. click for Chester Racecourse website I know some of the Dumfries scoobs and Cumbrian scoobs are travelling down on Saturday, it may be possible to hook up with them en route.
-
for those thinking of killing some time at Chester on Saturday there's Chester Oaks designer outlet or even Chester Zoo more info here: Things to Do in Chester
-
option 2 for us too. Not sure if our travel times will fit with you guys, dont know how much set up/take down time at Chester we'll need yet. fingers crossed we can convoy with you

i thought it was just right too, a nice blend of driving, socialising and sight seeing. i could tell that a lot of planning had gone into it, the maps and pre-booking meal and B&Bs took some stress out of the weekend. Distance and mileage seemed ok, but then again I wasnt driving. I dont think lack of V-Power caused any major problems, I guess we're used to it being that far north I suppose an option to arrive at our destination early on Day 1 would have been nice, for the chance for a nap (we had a 05:15 alarm call ) or to start drinking, but folk seemed happy to break away from the main group and do their own thing anyway, so not an issue. it was mainly a driving weekend and i really enjoyed it. Would defo do it again

what the Banana? Grant says it went well, car felt really solid cos the roll cage is bolted onto the struts and felt strong going round the corners. he had so much grip from the tyres (when the road was dry) and I felt he was taking the corners faster than he used to in the Bomber. though it was a different story when the roads were wet, he said the car felt nervous. i was enjoying it, the noise in the cabin + full harnesses + bucket seats meant I felt v. secure and strapped in.... plus I trust his driving ability it just balances out the impracticalities for me
-
thought the pair of you are at the same level of "fettle-ness" that was one thing I noticed... cos we changed position in the convoy several times I could see the way different cars handled round the corners, some were stiffer and more planted than others. was interesting to watch.

so who's got [useable] video footage and whats the plan? i've got about a minute of film of you guys coming across the Skye Bridge, as well as the 1 min clip of you leaving Portree I posted last night...
-
nice pics, looks like an interesting day. and i guess you classic owners like their FMICs also nice to see some Gathering stickers on the bonnets - i take it its a permanent decal on the car now, eh? imy
-
The road it happened was too narrow for all of us to stop and have it out with him (lane and a half with passing places). plus i dont think it would have been the right thing to do. its a pity really, we managed to get by all other road users on that stretch of road, it was just a random muppet driver that was being a pain.

lol not sure about "mega organiser" sure, start a thread in Events. Make the thread title clear, stating what, where and when. makes it easier for folk to scan their eye down the threads, the next 3 months seem to be a bit busy!
-
you dont need permission to hold a meet, you dont need to be a Regional Organiser to organise things. Lanark falls outside the current established regions, so go for it, get some regular meets happening, seems like you've got the numbers for it. finding a time that suits everyone is the hardest part. Once folk start turning up it will take off. like the idea of "two meets meeting on a run", you're close enough to Glasgow for it to work out, though we're looking at July or August time before this could happen, June is out for us. you seem sensible enough, you should take charge if no one else volunteers go for it. imy

aye glad you made it home safely Hoss we also had to take evasive action to avoid that flatbed lorry, Grant had to steer half the Banana on to the gravelly side of the road, we were lucky to scrape by with no damage.

aye it was a brilliant weekend. it was a really nice group of people getting on, looking after each other on the roads and larking about on the sat night. i think the wives/girlfriends enjoyed themselves too, which is always a bonus. the format of the 2 days meant there was enough time to chat to people and go "oh so you're <enter screen name here>" on past day trips its a quick 15 min chat and then back behind the wheel. i really enjoyed the time we spent at the lunch stops & during the meal and pub on sat night, it helps build rapport between everyone. some pics at pre-run top up at Inverness before we set off... strange how we all couldnt manage going from Perth to Inv without a toilet stop, eh?!

i said to him that the car will sink when he started reversing up it, "nah, dont worry, its four wheel drive babe" he says but when he ran up a similar gravel heap to take the picture he started to sink in the stuff
