  1. Just rang up my local parts trader for some oil, filter and antifreeze and they said there's two types of oil to choose from, 5/30 fully synthetic or 10/40 semi synthetic. Which one is best? It's for a 95 Impreza STI 555.
  2. Well bought it anyway as the price wasn't that bad. Hopefully should be here soon and will get started on it.
  3. Could someone confirm this is the correct part for my car http://www.importcarparts.co.uk/parts_info.asp?id=5759&cat=96⊂=97&sec=142&var=25&dc=y&gen=&searchKey= Its a 1995 Impreza WRX STi 555
  4. Okay, is there any company anyone would advice buying from? Looking for cambelt kit + waterpump.
  5. Just got her today :D. Will take pics tomorrow but August is going to take so long to get here . There's no paperwork with it but on the door it has a sticker in Japanese and it has the date, some writing and mileage on of 75000kms... The mileage now is 1400000kms. I've checked and looked at the belt but to be honest its still on the pulleys so as far as I'm concerned it looks fine. Whats the average mileage you can do on a belt? Would do it anyway but hoping it'll last till Christmas as the belt kit alone is £370ish without the waterpump...
  6. Then sorry mate you'll have to wait for someone with more experience . Nice looking motor though and welcome
  7. Read that it sounds the same problem as you and shows how to reprogram and what to do
  8. Get the other half out to push just as it boosts?
  9. I'm guessing (after having two cars, not Subaru with the same thing) that the bullet looking thing is part of the immobilizer. Usually you have to put the end of it against the socket in the dash before you can start? If it still starts without you having to do that it may of been bypassed. Or perhaps its more of a, the thing has to be in a certain radius of the car to start without having to actually put it against the socket. Have you tried to change the battery? Just because it has enough power to flash a little red light, might not have enough to send a signal to unlock/lock the doors? Someone else will probably come along soon and tell me I'm wrong
  10. But how come you can still hear the DV if hes blocked it off?
  11. Oooooo I'll keep the panel filter on then
  12. The bloke I'm buying my Scoob off has upgraded the panel filter and says you cannot put a cone on it due to the MAF Sensor, is this true? I'm sure I've seen lots with cone filters.. Is a panel filter better or are they the same?
  13. Sorry as this may sound stupid but I'm fairly new to Impreza's, turbos etc... Is that your dump valve? If so what make?
  14. Okay thanks I'll have a look into it. Also I've heard a lot of different opinions on fueling. What have you found to be the best fuel?
  15. She needs a good clean and perhaps and oil change. Can anyone advice oil and filter or shall I just go to my motor parts trader and give them the reg? Also mileage is about 97000 but theres no service history so no record of belt being done, £370 odd for just cambelt kit so will wait till Christmas time to get that. Hopefully she won't go bang.
  16. I cant comment on that as in wasn't driving then but insurance is expensive. Oh well no way out of it.... is it August yet?
  17. Hmmm... your asking me to wait till my next birthday? ... Well its £3000 for an STI annually. A lot but bare in mind I'm paying £1400 at the moment for a 1.2 Agila...
  18. As you know I wont be insured on it till August the latest, funnily enough the car I used to go and have a look at the Scooby in overheated today and the HG has gone so as its a crappy little Vauxhall Agila I shall stick it on eBay and be gone with it. Which means I cant even attend any meets at the moment
  19. Thanks guys. I have done a quote on a price comparison site. The cheapest quote is with Elephant (don't ask how much hehe). Problem is I'm 21 and this is my first policy by myself (never needed to drive that much before I've always been on my dads policy), plus I have been caught speeding . So for those reasons a lot of specialist insurance companies wont entertain me. I'll be paying my insurance annually so its not as painful as paying monthly, but after having a test drive today I think it's worth it .
