Put the new walbro 225 pump in and still the same. Went to take it to a bloke East Sussex Subaru Specialists (top man), plugged it in and it came up with one fault, crank sensor, replaced it and seems to be fine now.

Well getting a new fuel pump tomorrow so fingers crossed.

What do you mean should I be driving it? Its only occasionally.

Oh update. I stopped to let someone out and the the car just died.. took a few attempts to start. It starts every time I open the bonnet...

Well its done it again. It sounds like the fuel pump. When it stuggles to start I turn the ignition on and it sounds like the fuel tank is sucking air. As though therea no fuel even though it has a tank full.

First question: How would I know if they have broken? Second question: Where would I find the pickups?

Well you can only put it on one so otherwise it wont line up with the belt? But yes I'm 100% they are on the right way. Whats the average cost of a crank sensor? Hard to change?

Mine turns over like normal though... out of 10 starts it'll do it once or twice.

I changed the cambelt kit and water pump.

Only had the car a week. Yesterday I tried to start it when it was hot and it just turned over but I put that down to the fact I didnt let the fuel pump pump fuel first. Turned ignition off, back on, left it a few seconds then started it fine. Been using it quite a bit today, got back in it and tried to start it but it wouldnt fire up, just turn over. Did that about 3 times. Got out and opened the bonnet (for some reason) then tried to start it and it started fine and normal. Any ideas? I thought it may be the turbo timer messing up the immobiliser?

Basically I really want to attend a meet but have never been to one before and to be honest a bit worried incase I don't get on with people. Not many people seem to get on with me as I speak my mind. Any advice?

Mine has the one hook like yours and if you get the correct fitting mat the hook will just stop it sliding under the pedals.

It has 2 pot crap brakes.

Well vin says its an STi so sorted hehe. Investigation over.

I have some paperwork which states the Date of first registration in the UK was 01/10/1997 so the manufacture date was 01/12/1995.

It says on the V5: Date of first registration 01/12/1995 (DECL/D MANUF 1995). Surely if it was made in 1995 its very unlikely to be imported out to the UK in the same year? So I'm assuming its the date of manufacture not the date of import.

Another point. Going back to this website (http://www.catherineandken.co.uk/sti/wrx.html). If it were an STi V1 it should of been produced between 09/1994 to 08/1995. If it were an STi V2 it should of been produced between 09/1995 to 08/1996. Looking at my V5 it was made 12/1995 so that also points to it being an STi V2..

To be honest with you I have seen more things prove it's a V2 STi so thats what it is. I also think someone in the past (perhaps a young driver) got hold of it and made it look like a WRX so they could insure it as a WRX rather than an STi.

Just took your advice and found an impreza vin decoder and after typing my vin in it confirmed it was an sti. Only thing I could think of is someone who owned it before removed the obvious sti stuff so they could insure it as just a wrx for cheaper insurance?
