  2. Found some boxes of various older Impreza brochures today in the loft. Some were just about to hit the bin, as I had a lot of doubles, then hit upon an idea, as some of them are pretty rare now. So a Small donation to the McRae Gathering fund is required. Now I know Grant is still up to his eyes with posting out posters, so send a Paypal payment to me at drmotorsport@lineone.net I'll sort it all out and pass the final total onto Grant. 3. Don't know anything about the Federals, but I do know that tyre companies that I would have considered cheaper / budget options a few years ago have most certainly upped their game, especially in the motorsport and competition market. Kumho and Hankook are a couple that spring to mind. Kumho has won the Irish Tarmac Rally Championship 3 out of the last 4 years, or something. Hankook again in rallying, are up their with the bigger names now. Have a look here for some reviews. http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/ David
  4. I run 225/45x17 RE-70's on my track car at Knockhill when it's too damp/wet for slicks. Also with coilovers and plenty of camber through the pillowball top mounts. The rear arches have been trimmed slightly too, so no rubbing. So you should be ok with 225/40's
  5. A great day out, sadly I wasn't able to manage the full day. But a big thanks to John for organising everything from the bacon rolls in Peebles to the main event at A.F. Nobles. The 22B still looks as good today, as it was when I first saw it back in 1999. A couple of photos Nick took today. It was also good to meet up with everyone, new faces and the usual suspects. David
  6. Fraser, add me to the list for the meet in Carnwath. As you know I'm in West Calder so just a quick cross country trip via Auchengray. See you all on Saturday David
  7. Better add myself onto this list now, 1. Cruz104 +2 2. BigBird 3. Midnight 21 4. Jonboy and the Mrs 5. Bobby C 6. Scoobysailor and family 7. 8. EuroJap in Coatbridge have a few classics, and 1 new-age. You should be able to get a window there.
  9. I took my car to Ireland on the ferry last year for the Donegal Rally. Never had any issues with the loading onto the ferry. Never even thought about the alarm. It was set but never went off.
  10. I'll try and organise myself for this too. Will try and tie up with BigBird, and we'll head down together. David
  11. Millers 10W-60 in both my road Impreza and the track one.
  12. Harper Rally in Ireland have built up road cars in the past using parts from their WRC cars. However, if using genuine parts, it will need loads of work to get it all to fit properly. Been looking into doing a hawk-eye version, but that will need custom front wings made. The WRC cars are just too wide compared to the S9/S10 and also the rally wings leave too much space above the tyres no matter how low you go. David
  13. If you have an import car you need manual adjustment lights. If you have a UK model you need electric adjustment lights. Same rule applies to Morette's. You must state UK or Import when ordering. David
  14. That's similar to the brackets for the PIAA lights, hence the 12mm hole in the middle at the bottom edge. What you need it more like this. I've just very quickly altered your picture, but you need more metal in the middle to fit the lamps to. Make it from 2-3mm plate and paint it with black hammerite. David
  15. Brackets are for a bug-eye. Make up 2 new brackets with the same 3 bumper mounting holes. Do not make it as an "L" shape, but more as a square / triangle. Cut off the bracket from the bottom of the lamps, leaving a flat back. Scoobysport used the Oscar + because they had a flat back. Open up the lamp, and drill 4 holes through the back of the lamp into the new brackets. Do it as North, South, East , West shape, so you can adjust them side to side, and up / down. Bolt lamp diectly to the new bracket, use washers for any adjustment, try without first - it won't be far away. I had a set of these 10 years ago on my first Impreza, and this is how I made them up. I'd seen the original classic Scoobysport ones, but bought my own lights and made up my own brackets. Cost me about 1/2 what they wanted to charge. David
  16. PIAA's are the way to go. And I've just found you a used set here. http://forums.sidc.co.uk/index.php?showtop...p;#entry1205053 I've just done myself out a sale for a new set. Davy
  17. There's a few mistakes in that list. No '93/94 WRX ra in there either. Those were the lightest Impreza's made at 1170kg. Davy
  18. With all the houses that surround the circuit they must have been getting sackloads of complaints about all the noise. It's in the middle of nowhere, what are they playing at.
  19. P1 Fog Covers look good now their fitted Chris. 1 Impreza just isn't enough for some people. David
  20. Couldn't agree more Cal. I've got my new-age JDM STi and WRX ra track car insured for £628. Road Tax, 2 x £185. So both cars for less than a grand. I couldn't tax and insure 1 new hatch STi for that. Looking forward to seeing it out at Knockhill on the 1st November. As for the tints; probably the same as graphics; heat up with a hairdrier then peel off. Maybe. David
  21. Me, 107.8 db or 101.1 with the bung fitted. I see from the link, it's for Top Marque events. Not sure how it will affect JohnS SIDC or Track Scotland events. David
  22. A few photo's from last weekend John. Would love to come to Kames on the 19th, but I'm sure we're away on holiday as that's the school week. David
  23. Hi mate, Just saw this. We don't sell any bonnet scoops for the blob-eye models. The scoop we do sell for the bug-eye won't fit your car. David
  24. My ra is a '94 model, so never had the DCCD. To be honest, I never think about it, or wish it was there. The car is set up to be very stable and balanced at Knockhill. In the dry it just doesn't move about - Full Pirelli slicks tend to help. In the wet, it's more tail happy, but still very easy to control, with a touch of opposite lock. Great fun. It's now set up exactly how I wanted it, for me I wouldn't change anything set up wise. But what I want, wouldn't suit everyone. Even with a car with DCCD, once it's set to your liking it rarely gets moved. As for STi or WRX ra. I would say STi. But when you get offered a WRX ra with 53,000km; know it's history, and it's fitted with a full de-cat, 330mm AP's, 17" STi alloys and GAB / HKS Coilovers; all for a stupidly low price. It's a no brainer. David
  25. Kris Meeke was spectating near us on Stage 5, didn't know what had happened to him. I think the above explains it. Davy
