  3. why wait a year for another trip, why not august or september, realy gutted i missed out on this, looking at the pics looks like an amazing weekend and the roads look like a great place to drive, amazing scenery , briliant veiws and im just not talking about the alll those subaru's i like the good to go on the costal drives out to gullen and long drives down to eyemouth but havent done any long drives like this highland one yous have all done, but would love to get in on it next time
  4. an insurance quote for my 2003, wrx sti type uk was £998 and im only 27, if i stick with my insurance company which is privelage then they will give me a better deal , doesnt help that ive written a car off before and had a cpl bad crashes before aswel , but i blame the women who caused the accidents i was involved in as my driving is prety good id say
  5. check out this smart car doing a drag strip race against a ferrari
  6. sory to hear bout the car , its a low no respect type of guy that does damage to another guys machine , personaly wld hope for the police to lift them , then wait on them getin released on bail and then make them a hood ornament when they get released . either that or let your car have the revenge by driving over the feckers
  7. thanks for the help lads, already looking at the events richie was hoping to meet a few of you up at crail today but had to work on a backshift just finished at 8 , gota check my shift next thursday but if i can get away earlier mite see if i can still get in on the south quensferry meet , if not that then the next one will either be knockhill or royal highland centre , also trying to get a paid membership sorted out but havin a cpl problems there with registering so emailed karyn and awaiting reply , neway back to "my baby" as ive come to call her lol, dont have anything in writing from the dealer ship (evans halshaw) suzki garage in rotheram , but i was meant to get the car at 4pm he didnt turn up until 18:30pm i mentioned the light he said itl go out , went to portobello dealership the next morning , mentioned to the lass behind the service desk about the light being on and what the guy said , she said bring it in next fri and they will run a diagnostic , told the lass that the guy who sold me it from down south said if i had any problems to phone them up or take it to my local evans halshaw, she said shel email them to get confrimation that they will foot the bill and are prepared to pay , also mentioned to the lass that the passengers window button doesnt work , but the drivers side one does, so i think that mite just be the solenoid maybe...., the way i see it , the guy on the phone when i done the deal said only scratches , and that there wasnt anything else to declare , and if the car was in any other condition than he stated he was breaching the contract , just like i had to state any damages scratche sor problems with mine , the other funny thing is i took out a 2 year extended warranty on it , thinking that it being 7 years its a little security , the guy said it basicly covered everything other than the usual wear and tear stuff in that you get in a service, but after reading through the documents on the excluded items part of teh warrenty , theres not much left of a car once you take away the excluded items , i think all thats left is the mirrors
  8. hey thanks , yeah i thot the first one might just be the turbo winding up, but never having a car with a turbo or being in a car with one i wasnt to sure , duno about any mods the only think i can think of as a mod that it has on it is a digital turbo gauge , which is in the midle of the dash next to the cup holder, its about the size of a pager , duno what it all does as there is nothing in the books or paper work when i got the car telling me what it does or how to work it, all i know is i switch the engine of and it has a 30second timer that counts down to zero before the engine cuts out , and thats with the key removed, also if i fidle with the buttons on it lol the display changes to a rev counter,0-60 timer, lap timer, what i think is a volt reader, and another time, yet again never owning a scooby before duno if this is a standard added thing on them all or if its because its a type uk standard thing, as for induction kits and so on from looking under the bonnet it looks prety standard , no induction kit standard air box, standard sti exhaust , but then again not too mechanicly minded so cant say " ohh thats not standard"
  9. hey folks , new member here, not very mechanicaly inclinded but i know a lil bit of some basics just got my first scooby , an 03 WRX STI TYPE UK, when i got it from dealership down in rotheram they said it only had some scratches to the paint work which i said was aceptable, and they said they deliver it all the way up to edinburgh , i thot way... great less traveling for me , but what i didnt realise was that some guy actualy drove it 186 miles up the motorways to my door and it wasnt on the back of a transporter like i thot they wld have done. me being me thinking the guys clealy hammered the gas a few times i mean who wldnt want too....neway to get back on topic , when it arrived here i took for a test drive and noticed the ECU light was lit up on the dash , so returning from the test drive i asked the guy he said it was because it had ran out of petrol at the dealership forecourt and the light wld reset itself, (which i thot was a load of bull) but he said if theres any issues take it to the closest delearship up here, which i did the next morning they said they bring it in and do a diagnostic check on it which is scheduled for next fri 30th, hoping i they find a problem they pay to get it fixed as vehicle wasnt as stated when i paid for it. but the probolem im more concerened , and being new to scoobys and a car with a turbo , 1- when the turbo kicks in about 3000 rev range theres a loudish whining sound as the boost comes, 2 - noticed when on a disused stretch of private road i tested the speed through the gears when i got up 105mph - 110mph there was a loudish whining sound coming from the front drivers right hand side almost like it was right below the windsheild under the bonnet.( only way to describe it is a sound like air is blowing through a hole or sumthin) 3- not to sure if this was a peice of debris or sumthing with the car but twice i got a loud banging sound from the left hand side like either sumthing had hit the inside of the wheel arches or like the car was backfiring , but this was only when i was up near or in the 100mph range . any help would be much apreciated or any gueses as to what might have caused the problems would be very much apreciated , as i say im not mechanicly inclined too much but usual if a cars making a certain soud or doing sumthing my gueses are usualy close or spot on to what mite be causeing them , as for doing any work on cars ive not attempted much but always try to learn ,
  10. yeah either that or the govermnent is giving out a little back handed payment aswel , but funny how most countrys fuel prices have stayed the same but the brittish motorist gets ripped off again , its just a case of shopping around for petrol id say , i use the morrisons petrol station with the mileage scheme where i get a £5 voucher back after so many top ups, but the price is £1.18 a litre, tho down the road near preston pans its about £1.15
  11. just got my 03 wrx sti type uk , last week, still geting used to the fuel consumption ,and working out what its doing to a full tank ,looks like its gona manage 200miles to the tank, but costing me about £55 to fill up. did have a hyunida coupe 1.6 which cost £65 to fill up but gave me 285 miles to the tank , so im thinking that extra £10 to make up what i spent on the hyunida will get me an xtra 20 miles im wishing so not too much difference , but im only driving 5miles to work and back and most the roads are 30mph roads with the odd bit of road set at 60mph , but im luving that subaru burble as im driving through town at low speed , and with it painted rally blue with the rally decals on the front and side its great seeing it turning heads or seeing people having a look and gettin the attention, even better when you pull up next to boy racers or driving past them in their corsa's and fiestas and seeing them checking out the ride, makes paying for teh petrol to get it out there all that worth while .
