cheers foley , nobles say their gona be checkin the rest of the engine as hey take it apart, and maybe a wee trip to andy f to see if he thinks its in good nick aswel when i get it back , still hopping wi all these new parts being replaced theres no much else to go wrong wi it , and if i get it back before thursday then its got a wee trip down to eyemouth planned to see my mate so 100 niles each way mite show any issues but before it went in to get all these things fixed, it seemed to run fine through the gears all the way up into the 100+mph mark on quiet dissued roads ofcourse , and seemed to handle the speed well enough with no obvious signs of anything to goingg wrong under the bonnet or dodgy sounds, just a lil light on the dash telling me there was engine problems... so hopefuly drives like a dream when its got all its new bits but think il be breaking the new bits in for the first cpl weeks

nice motor/classic , sucks that you have a few problems with it already , didnt get it from evans halshaw by any chance did you lots of people on here with brains worth picking from what ive read aswel these folk realy do know their shizzle
-
daft question here but what are alcon 6 pots.. guesing alcon are the brand not got a clue what yous mean by 6pots and 4 pots though

as far as i got told nobles said they will be checking as they take it all apart and will notify evans halshaw if they find anything else that needs done when removing everything , surely if they are replacing the head gasket and that they have to take fo the top of the engine cover and wld see the pistons, atleast if i remember right from the garage programe on the discovery channel when jock changed a head gasket he could see the pistons , or atleast teh top of them , but again im no mechanic and only know lil bits from what ive picked up , also as stated ANDY F offered to give the car engine a wee once over and check to see if ecu was remappped so mite take him up on the offer if its still there when i get it back . just to be on the safe side , atleast i can say to nobles ive taken it to a subaru specialist and theyve said this needs done and so forth ..

tappets are getting done because nobles told evanshalshaw that when it got serviced/mot'd the week before i received the car, the garage that done the service/mot put them on to tight and it wasnt letting the valves open properly and causing the engine to over heat . so it was going to be a £1200 job to replace the tappets with new ones , thats why evans halshaw didnt want the work done and just wanted to give me my money back cause they had already spent £500-£600 on the wireing harness and wireing loom, which nobles thought was the original problem , but when the manager down south where i bought the car spoke to his regional manager and told him it had been goin on for 2months now and that he needed his permision to authorise buyin the car back , the regional guy phoned nobles asked what was up and if anything else might be wrong/damaged/ or could go wrong as a result of all the problems its already had, nobles apparently told him that even if they do replace the tappets which were put on too tight that doesnt mean its a definate fix for the engine managemeant light and that sumthing unseen could be wrong and its best to replace alot of parts with brand new ones to reduce the chances of it breaking down again and being returned to them. regional manager said ok were willing to authorise all work on anything that nobles think could and should be replaced with new parts so long as im willing to wait for it to be done and not just take the money back. he told the manager from down south to phone me back aswel explain the situation apologise for the hassle and see if i want the cash or stick with the car. i got told about the entire engine being stripped down , and all these parts geting replaced with brand new ones cam belt, timing belt , tappets, valves, oil + liquid changes , head gasket. then their doing a 10mile test drive on it i think rather than a 2min run down the road to make sure the engine heats up and no light comes on and everything runs properly , also told that if there is any major problem in the next few months that ive to phone them up as nobles gaurantee their work and parts for 12months and i have the two year warrenty on the car aswel. so all in all im gona stick with it the now when i do get it back unless it did break down like a week later then i think id be saying just give me my fc#kin money back . because even the now when i was looking for a new scoob i was strugling to find any wrx sti type uk or just wrx sti without mods in my price range that wld leave me money for the insurance aswel . and its a bonus if nothing goes wrong and the car runs smoothly when i get it back that its had all this work done to it buy a proper subaru dealership, by subaru technicians with genuine subaru parts and that lots of the major parts and wireing have all been replaced with brand new parts . also when i do get it back might take andy f up on his offer to have a look over the engine once i get it back so he can check to see if the ecu has been remapped and so forth ,

i went with privelage and my renewal was £638 thats with 6 years no claims and was on a wrx sti 2.0litre doin up to 10k miles a year , but then i am only 27 and had a cpl smashes in my younger days
-
yeah ive been patient lol to say the least , nobles said cld be up to 15 days depending on how long it takes for parts to get delivered or if they have them in stock, was the same last time when they done the wiring loom and harness took 10 days to get the parts in as they were on back order, and will take 15 hours to take the engine out and everything off it and to strip it apprently , though ive seen engines stripped alot faster than that tho. as for the comp im seeking, already received an email back from comunity legal aid , saying they dont realy specialise in my form of complaint but that they have redirected me to the goverments consumer direct . where ive just filled my complaint again .

ok folks new update that wasnt expected . was expecting a phonecall from the dealer principal down in rotheram to say come get your junk out the car and youl get your money on this date . ....INSTEAD I GOT ..... a very apoligetic regional manager APOLOGISING FOR THE TREATMENT and whats happended and asking if id prefer the work to be carried out or money .and then transfered to the rotheram manager for discusion.. after a long list of questions about work, gaurantes, workmanship, what rights id have and so forth and what work is going to get carried out . IM NOW GETTING MY SHED BACK!!!!!!!!!!!! the reginal director/manager whatever he is told rotheram manager to pay for the stuff if i wanted it done. i said what gaurante do i have that when i get the work done on fixing the tappets that i wont get in the ca and 5miles down the road the car isnt going to muck up, the regional guy spoke to nobles and discussed this with them and said asked what wld needed to be done to make sure there is the slimest posibility of anything further going wrong with the car after the tappets are replaced. nobles reply was apparently replace lots of engine parts and their work is gauranted for 12months except usual wera and tear , so now the car is geting a complete engine strip and parts done- - new tappets ( the original job that rotheram refused to pay for £1200 job) -new timing belt -new cam belt - new valves - new head gasket -new spark plugs me thinks he said -oil change -liquid change .... so i said i was happy for them to do the work and if something else does go wrong we will discuss that in teh future and see about it getting fixed . so add all those new parts to the new wiring harness and wiring loom that has been fittted and i think i mite have made the right choice to get the work done rather than still take the cash.. what do you folks think.? also nobles said as their strip engine out they will check other parts incase something else pops up.

your right in me wanting a nice clean sti , 2001 ish onwards , aslong as it has the big spoiler on the back , and prefer them with the big scoop on the bonnet as opposed to the turbos with the smaller bonet scoops , other than that if its blue prefered colour and bonus if it has the gold alloys . just finding one in budget is the thing,
-
aye know to avoid them as a dealership and i thot arnold clarck was bad lol, thought seeing how i paid for the extra 2year warrenty then it might have came under that but them takin the cost cause they sold it like that but gues they dont realy check motors over when they get them, its just a case of get them out the door asap and hope nowt goes wrong , now the hunt will be on as soon as i get the cash in the account , tough to find a sti wi the cash il get back , or even a wrx wi the sti body kit on it , but not lookin for anythin wi mods so much just a plain scoobaru will do me fine ,
-
very nice exactly what im lookin for

soz havent been as much internets been down had to use mates yesterday neway... their takin the peeeeasshhhh now !!!!!!!! michael bolton - dealer principal/manager at evans halshaw citreon rotheram where i got the car phonedsaid they cant get the work done as a warrenty job from subaru as it had been modded obviously i knew that neway. unless nobles could come down in the price to fix it £1200 they will buy back from me , at the price i bought it, including the £348 i paid of an extended 2year warrenty , they will give me back the £90 i paid for the tyre to be put on it , (THIS IS THE FUNNY BIT NOW ) - They WILL NOT pay for the 2months insurance ive been paying for the car to sit at the back of their dealership up here waiting to get fixed, -they WILL NOT pay the £60 admin fee my inusrance charged me to change the details from my hyundia to the subaru - they WILL NOT pay for the two qauter tanks of petrol i put in it that have been used, qauter tank in it when they first got it and gave back with empty light on and when it was supposedly fixed i put another qauter tank in before the engine management light back on and staright back into the garage 20mins after i got it. - they will not pay the 2months higher purchase i took out with the bank to help me buy the car aswel as my part exchange . he said anything ive paid for and put on the car or had done to the car they will cover but anything else they wont pay for .and will phone on monday to give arrange a time for me to get my stuff from the car and a date to hand back the courtesy car back to the garage up here. i also now have a full set of subaru world rally decals that i bought ready to go on the car when i got it back that are still sittin in the box , so basicly come monday i will have just under £7k which i paid for the car after partexchange , i will be out of pocket for 2months insurance, admin fee, higher purchase payments and a half tank of petrol, i will also be carless now , and still have to get to work , my local citizens advice is closed and my legal advice place is shut over the weekend until monday morning, he only decent thing wi evans halshaw is paul the service advisor up here at seafield said i shld get straight on the phone to citizens advice and that michael bolton guy is takin the piss , and he feels gutted for me and he would be raginng if it was him, i know its not much but atleast he agrees the guys takin the piss tho .

ok got the call today , guy from down south is off sick , michael bolton guy , but told will get a call tomorow , apparently their going to keep the scooobaru because of high repair costs and try to sort me out with another car, but unless its a scoob wrx sti , or a wrx with a sti body kit then im not intrested , will see if they will give me any compensation or pay back all the stuff ive been paying for the past cpl months insurance ,fuel ive had in it etc etc
-
CHEERS GAV GOOD TO KNOW. also appreciate the offer too, will be in touch with whoever and what ever would be closer, if i get the cash back. still not had a call from the dealer manager down south and even tried phoning the dealer manager down there but phones always engaged need to know whats happening asap because my insurance is due on friday , and i dnt wana pay £668 for a years insurance and get told their not gona be fixing it, remind me never to buy fi evans halshaw again... yeah dealer side gives me peice of mind unless their evans halshaw but prices are higher , and theres some nice private ones out there that are reasonabley priced but no safety net of a warrenty or dealership cover....

which one gav....? anything im looking for has to be around the £7k range , , but still waiting to see what happens with mine if itl be fixed or not , which is the prefered option , but if it doesnt get fixed then im thinking i shld get about £7k back and hoping for some compo ,and a reinbursement of the 2months insurance that ive been paying for the car to sit at the back of evans halshaw or in a garage, also thinking of goign to citizens advice or phoning to see if they think id be able to get some comp in any way sort of form for the way ive been treated and sold a car the way it is that ive not had any use out of. so im just browsing what used ones are out there to keep my options open ,would also prefer to go wi a dealer atleast i got a bit of cover if sumthin goes wrong, but private sellers is where the better prices are but i dnt know too much mechanicly of what too look for if im going to look at one so dont want to get stung and have to pay heavily down the line for it to get fixed , but spacemans offer to help and go along if it wasnt to far out was amazing , and apreciated , everyone on here so helpful even to strangers like me, will keep everyone updated wi whats happening , if im geting it fixed and if il have it back in time for next tue edin meet or next sat classic show at stirling where i had my name down aswel ,
-
this is the short list of what ive found so far and what i mite be able to affoard , obviously all depending if mines gets fixed http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1711407.htm http://forums.sidc.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=149305 (depnding on compensation if any , and what savings i might have ) http://forums.sidc.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=142002 http://forums.sidc.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=147656 http://iangrievesubaru.co.uk/vehicles/used - blue wrx £8995 51,170 miles

apreciate the offer spaceman, havent got shot of mine yet , still waiting to hear if their writing it of and giving me my full cash back + some compensation or if their gona go ahead and fix it , still waiting on a phonecall today tho .
-
dont realy have anyone that knows alot about cars , just stuff ive learned myself which isnt much , i just learned from experience with cars ive had before , and thats usualy sounds i hear , as for looking into a bonnet and looking at an engine, and going hmm that doesnt look right or that looks damaged, im not that good,
-
yeah service advisor from porty thinks the same , he said he doubts they will want to go ahead and pay for the work, not knowing what else could be wrong , and that the rotheram dealership even phoned nobles themselves to see what they think . will be a bit pissd if they do, have to say though the one that ggmac has sudgested in stirling looks good too, and in my price range if i do get a refund, only thing is the 4 previous owners, and i wont be protected if the car goes tits up when i get it, id have to pay for everything mmyself and thats money i dont have ,
-
cheers gmac, thats a good looking scoob , and thanks for the info spaceman , few people have now said that about not buying from them.. update of the car in the garage - the tappets on engine are not working properly and nobles said £1200 to fix, evans halshaw in portobello is waiting for authorisation from rotheram evanshalshaw to get the work done, having trouble getting the dealership manager at moment, but not to sure if he will ok the work because im thinking theyve already made a prety hefty loss on the car with parts and labour fixing it, if they do get the go ahead i dunno how long it will take to get the parts and fix it, so dunno if i will make the meet on the 29th or the classic car show at bridge of allen on the 4th , but im hoping i will, im peed of at missing out on all these events , and im choking to get to my very first event .

waiting on phonecall from nobles on what they think , their gona have somebody working through weekend and a few hours on monday checking it over , just incase i do hand it back , ive been shopping around for a new one , saw this wondered if any of you recognise it or have any input. looks nice enough, , and if you see the pic of the inside the car someones put the gauges in on the dash board, tho to be honest im not too fussed if they are there or not , looks in decent knick too for the price but should i be wary ??????? l http://caldermotor.co.uk/cgi-bin/details.pl?v_vin=GK02TZT just no to sure incase i do give mine back and get the cash and go for this as i dont wana get stung again with something that looks good but is a shed and dnt wana be paying a fortune on geting things seen to or fixed that i cant affoard especialy when any spare cash i have would be going to pay for this , and atleast with the shed that i have the now evans halshaw are paying for all the new parts , fixes and labour so its not costing me anything , but with that itd be out of my own pocket.anything i shld look out for when buying? it seems to be modded but not sure what i should or shouldnt check if i go to see it /buy it , but its got everything i want for around teh £7k mark wrx sti type uk 2002/2003 proper bodykit , though not to fussed about mods, and it has the gold alloys and proper sti spoiler and boonet scoop size, and its in blue which is what i also want ,
-
cheers andy , apreciate the offer like, waiting to see what they say about it, if its worth while getting the repairs done or just leaving it, they were meant to phone evans halshaw the day but they didnt as paul from evans halshaw said , so wating on a phonecall tomorow to see what happens, he usualy phones the missus but dunno if shel be to happy cause ive just dropped her off up town and she likes a lie in after a drink lol but already started looking for another scoob just incase its not fixable, babs wants to get sumthing sensible astra, fiesta, corsa but i said i want the scoob , struggling to find anything tho in the price range , especialy in scotland ,seem to be alot cheeper down south . except from manse veihicle managemeant in fife, but alot of their stuff is jap imoprt from what i could see. will let you know though what happens and if im just tellin them to keep it or not, dont want to because ive always wanted a scoob since i was 16, but also dont want it playing at the back of my mind that theres another dodgy mod been done somewhere and taken out that hasnt registered a fault yet or broke and that im gona pay for it bigstyle further down the line .
