  9. sorry i haven't been posting much on this thread i've been busy building a twin scroll legacy engine for a customer so had a few late nights!! haven't seen the audi for a long time or the idiot who was driving it thank god! must admit matty you look good for 47!! hope i look as good as you at that age!
  10. doh! missed this thread but spent a quiet night in as had a few peeps over on the saturday before, 35 now and feeling old!!
  11. remember when it's on boost the system won't be active or you'd put boost pressure in to the tank and the system only works when your on a vacuum i.e over run. what are you hoping to gain from removing it?
  12. it's there to draw the fumes from the tank through and reburn them so you don't get an excess of petrol fumes building up in the tank
  13. so little power increase you will hardly notice anything you might notice a very slightly deeper sound, it will pass the emissions as well as the ppp kit on early cars removed this cat altogether as it's only a half cat. it doesn't take up the full size of the chamber it sits in
  14. 0 is to thin dealers were given a bullitin about it when it came out
  15. colin your a star! the idiot nearly killed me and my brother on our bikes on sat! we had come down from minster and were nearly at the roundabout and were on the right hand side of our lane to go go right at the roundabout and with a car coming the other way he went round us and then had to cut in sharply in front of us to avoid the car nearly knocking us off in to the path of the cars behind us. there was a few v signs and the middle fingers exchanged so he stopped at the junction on the roundabout, i peddled like mad the last few yards to catch him and all he did was sit there laughing at us then drove off towards brize. we were going to report him for dangerous driving but we couldn't remember the no. now we got it though i think a trip to the local fuzz might be in order even if they just send someone to his house to ask questions it will be something
  16. does anyone know or seen around this area a grey audi cabriolet with the reg x4 at the start of it? we thought it was x4 fpc but that doesn't work.
  17. are these all chips or do you have to make each individual circuit?
  18. i'd be interested in that
  19. if you haven't done anything to rectify why the readings are out it will come back on at some point, it depends what type of code it is i can't remember off the top of my head but it might need to detect it twice in the same journey or just once in 2 consecutive journeys.
  20. hi iain, not to bad i'm flat out at work then plus a bit which is good, but i got to borrow the 3.6l outback last night we had on loan which made up for work keeping me there till all hours!!! then we have brought a new sti so hopefully i'll get to pdi it and bring it home one night, such a hard life sometimes!!!! hows the little one doing?
  21. december isn't it 2012 when it all ends according to them! so do you buy xmas pressies or not.......hmmm decisions decisions
  22. it's not the sensors that are faulty it's the readings the ecu is seeing are out of perimiters, it compares the af ratio readings with the o2 sensor readings and it knows because of tables it's programmed with what the efficiency of the cat is. so you speed up the flow which alters the readings i.e it's a bit less efficient and the ecu spots that and throws up a code because it thinks something is wrong. it's like having an air leak in to the exhaust between the 2 sensors that will give you the same result which on the early sti's was what happened. bearing in mind this is only on 01my onwards, if you put a high flow cat on a classic you can get away with it as it only has one sensor so theres nothing else to compare it to to monitor the emissions. subarus are getting more complicated now to the point on the new legacy the clutch biting point has to be set up on the select monitor as does the hand brake and the stroke of the clutch master cylinder, bring back the old school where you could what you like to get more power without the ecu saying you can't!!!
  23. the cel will come on for a problem relating to any sensor not just the o2 sensor or it's readings, the most likely with a high flow cat fitted is the "catalyst efficiency below threshold" but again it could be any sensor at all.
