tried the runkeeper on the trial day and it seems ok to me if a little power hungry and i find it quite interesting when you log on on line and it shows you the elevation and speed and the map of where you went. all in i think it's quite a good app just got to get a dahon biologic iphone mount now so i can see the iphone when i'm on the move!

it was all built up in the shop but i spose they could have come off the bike and fitted in the shop, not sure why it says rotation on it though
-
right then all you experts whats this for? it came with the bike but they didn't tell me
-
i know lol i think you do for going up the hill so not to lose to much energy then release it for the fun bit!! has anyone tried these drinks and bars you can get that release energy do they work? also any gain from using proper bike shoes?
-
i've got an iphone so i'll check that out! know what you mean about the bobbing on a full sussy bike the first one i owned used to do it something chronic but the trek can lock out the rear suspension if needed and it's geometry is supposed to eliminate the bob as well so hopefully it won't make me sea sick but only a test ride will prove that i spose
-
picked it coz it was subaru blue!!

just decided on the same thing as living in carterton and working in hailey it seems an expensive luxury to own a car that sits out the back of the workshop all day so have put down a deposit on a trek fuel ex5 from giles in town so now all i got to do is wait for it to arrive in the country which should be april the 5th i can't wait!!

are these all chips or do you have to make each individual circuit?
-
i'd be interested in that

Hawkeye Sti Overheating Or Sound About Right ?
mark1234 replied to STI Mav's topic in General Subaru Discussion
no one checks for bubbles -
if you haven't done anything to rectify why the readings are out it will come back on at some point, it depends what type of code it is i can't remember off the top of my head but it might need to detect it twice in the same journey or just once in 2 consecutive journeys.

hi iain, not to bad i'm flat out at work then plus a bit which is good, but i got to borrow the 3.6l outback last night we had on loan which made up for work keeping me there till all hours!!! then we have brought a new sti so hopefully i'll get to pdi it and bring it home one night, such a hard life sometimes!!!! hows the little one doing?

december isn't it 2012 when it all ends according to them! so do you buy xmas pressies or not.......hmmm decisions decisions

it's not the sensors that are faulty it's the readings the ecu is seeing are out of perimiters, it compares the af ratio readings with the o2 sensor readings and it knows because of tables it's programmed with what the efficiency of the cat is. so you speed up the flow which alters the readings i.e it's a bit less efficient and the ecu spots that and throws up a code because it thinks something is wrong. it's like having an air leak in to the exhaust between the 2 sensors that will give you the same result which on the early sti's was what happened. bearing in mind this is only on 01my onwards, if you put a high flow cat on a classic you can get away with it as it only has one sensor so theres nothing else to compare it to to monitor the emissions. subarus are getting more complicated now to the point on the new legacy the clutch biting point has to be set up on the select monitor as does the hand brake and the stroke of the clutch master cylinder, bring back the old school where you could what you like to get more power without the ecu saying you can't!!!

the cel will come on for a problem relating to any sensor not just the o2 sensor or it's readings, the most likely with a high flow cat fitted is the "catalyst efficiency below threshold" but again it could be any sensor at all.

check for bubbles i've already done headgaskets on hawkeyes for overheating -

can you at any point especially after a good hard drive see bubbles in the expansion bottle? -
have you traced the pipes back from the tee piece? where do they go to? also check that braided bit where it joins the manifold isn't cracked in side and sucking air through the braiding
-
hunting on idle is a sign the air flow meter is on the way out, might be worth getting it on a select monitor and seeing what it's doing

Hesitation On Throttle Lumpy In Low Revs
mark1234 replied to rooster's topic in General Subaru Discussion
only from about 01 onwards so bugeyes were the first to have 2 sensors in the exhaust, the first is the ayf sensor which controls the mixture and the second is the o2 which monitors the state of the cat. i think people get confused when they see 2 sensors in the exhaust they automatically think it's 2 o2 sensors but on the imports it's a temp and o2 sensor whilst on the uk classics they only have 1 o2 sensor. iain is yours a later reg car then the op's car? if yours is braided and so is that one then i think subaru changed the plug on the later models, we really need someone with an unmodified early import who can have a look for us! -

yep get that boost gauge off the map line it will cause you all sorts of issues, the braided wire looks like the cable that comes from the exhaust temp sensor, on an import this is at the bottom of the downpipe and uk specs don't have this sensor and i think from memory it goes to that round plug. i don't think imports have a sensor in the top where yours is it sounds like someone has fitted a uk spec downpipe and they should of just blanked the top hole off but i think they have put the cable from the temp sensor to it thinking it was the same sensor and it isn't. the imports have an o2 sensor on the front corner of the exhaust on the drivers side with a square 4 pin plug just below the coolant reservoir. most people fit this type of downpipe and don't worry about the temp sensor so check you have a sensor in the front corner of the exhaust, if you have then that is your o2 sensor and the one in the top of the down pipe should only be used as a bung so make sure it's not connected to anything. -
you pushed the pistons back in the caliper which raised the brake fluid level putting the light out
