Thats a lovely sti. Dont sell it if you can! Import it if thats feasible, no idea costs involved, maybe not a viable option for you. How long you over here for, cant you just keep the car in storage? Try the specialist insurance companies, sure they could get you sorted cheaper than confused.com style searches. Good luck.

Cheers James. I have found a few threads searching here and s.net last nite. Seems not too difficult a job to do. May have an attempt this w/end. Was going to change the sidelights as they dont match the main lights, so I understand the lights need to come out anyway for that job, so may as well do it at the same time. Yeah 'er indoors says nope to spending £300+ on lights lol. Will post up the progress.

I agree. I did read up on this briefly long time ago but will need to refresh by reading up on it. IIRC its the putting it back together thats the hard part. Yep, have changed the repeaters and reflectors myself ( with advice from Wulsey, cheers ) but thats it. Was chuffed doing that as I have 2 left hands.

Haha..cool. So detangoing is this something I should try myself or have someone who knows what they are doing do it? Never done it. Any volunteers if I dont feel confident in trying this myself???

I want to give my headlights a different look than standard. I have received my orders that jdm or sti headlights are a no-no so thinking about some other options and wanting some input from the members. So I think I have de-tangoing, or some sort of smoked laminate effect, or see the pic below which looks like the inside of a standard wrx headlight has been modified black. I am aware of heating the lights up to detango, but is this really tricky or advisable? Has anyone used these laminate type smoked thingys, are they crap, legal? Or does anyone know how to get the effect in the pic below? Failing that if you have a spare set of jdm/sti bug headlights you dont want fling them my way lol Cheers Mark.

Hello. Im not mechanically minded myself and others will have more knowledge but... 1 - when the turbo kicks in it usually does 'whine' as it spools up. I have the resonator box removed from my wing and yes you very much can hear the turbo spool up, maybe its just the turbo. 2 and 3 - dont know about these, but if your car is going in on the 30th then get these issues checked out then. They can take it for a road test, see what the car does. Hopefully they turn out to be not much to worry about. Has the car been modded? Prob important to check this out. Good luck

I am wanting to find a sti7 scoop to replace my wrx scoop, really just for the look. Im currently stage 1 Andy F for my wrx but reckon stage 2 would be somewhere I want to go. An uprated tmic isnt mentioned at stage 2 but i think im aware of the added benefit. Now if I was to fit an sti tmic do you then need to have an sti scoop with sti undertray or not? Been offered a scoop with undertray but if Im not going to be fitting an sti tmic then doesnt seem much point in needing the undertray, or is there? Any thoughts, thanks

Hi Richie I had a look before on ebay, wasnt sure what to make of what was on offer there. Andy F stage 2 for wrx mentions having this mod, doesnt mention changing the tmic to a better/sti one though.

Where would I get one of these 'Uprated turbo to intercooler 'Y' pipe' thingys? What do they do and why do they need to be uprated? Any advice thanks.

andy f told me if you are removing cats then it really should be remap time

what size are the rims? Prob does need lowered to suit those rims, then colour code your side sills. that will look better, but thats just me. cheers
