About JPE

  1. I'm going to sin, but: Didn't Mitsubishi knock five grand off the list price of the Evo X? I think it starts at £25k for the entry-level 300hp model now. I'd love to go back to a Scooby one day- but I wouldn't pay that amount of money when an Evo is 8 grand cheaper.
  2. Out of curiosity which type-r are you looking at? The new shape or old?
  3. After 3 years I'll be parting from my WRX next week, to take a new "60" plate car. I'm too embarassed to say what it is, so I'll just link to a pic ;o Owning the Scooby has been ace- with no regrets, other than the theft. A fantastic, bullet-proof car that was always a joy to drive. No other car in this price range can hit 0-60 in under 6s! I'd like to say a big thank you to the members of SIDC- an invaluable source of info and some great discussions. You guys certainly know your stuff! Who knows, maybe one day I can come back to Scooby ownership!
  4. I've considered selling my 04 WRX with 64k miles, prices I've been offered from garages are £5,250-£5,500. The saloon comes in 3 guises, AFAIK: GX- lacks the bonnet scoop and- I think- the turbo. 0-60 in 10s, fairly slow. WRX- the base level performance Scooby. I have one and love it. Punchy but also comfortable. STi- goes like the clappers. Some styling additions, but mostly under-the-bonnet improvements over the WRX. The highest insurance group, mind. 2003-2005 £245 for 12 months. The hawkeyes and hatchbacks are £200 more, as they're after 2006 (there's a cap for cars registered before then, which the blobeye falls into) Nothing special, in my experience. Check the usual stuff- listen to the engine when cold, check the oil, get a HPI record etc... Squeeky seatbelts are the most annoying thing but it's normal!!
  5. My 04 WRX does it, also despite laser wheel alignment.
  6. Let us know what you go with Gary- I'm in the same boat as you. Have been considering scoobyworld's spoiler as I might get some other things from them.
  7. Anyone else read the seller's description of the car and come away feeling stupid?
  8. Got a quiet Bailey's one. You can tell yourself they reduce turbo lag, if it helps. I do.
  9. Anyone know if this affects WRX hatchbacks with the PPP?
  10. Damn! Haven't gone to the effort of phoning Adrian Flux, but confused.com tells me the exhaust alone bumps the premium from £550 to £1050. Thanks for the info, anyhow.
  11. After finding Subaru are offering a free PPP on the WRXs I'm looking at the hatchbacks (again...) and was wondering if the exhaust and remap should be declared as "modified" when getting an insurnace quote? Cheers.
  12. Gah! I'm cleaning Scoob on my drive from the googlemap picture!
  13. This is an almight conundrum. On the one hand- it looks ****. On the other hand- it looks like the Batmobile and the Batmobile can't be ****?!
  14. 6 years of stone chips- and a pheasant who played chicken (and lost)- is really starting to hinder my Scoob's front end, to the point where I'm looking at getting the bonnet and front bumper repsrayed. Can anyone recommend a good body shop? I had a look at one yesterday, was a run down building in a dilapidated industrial estate and the guy wanted £550 which seemed OTT. Cheers!
