  1. Got same car an yeah its a pain in the butt you have tio lift it yourself or use the key for grip ( a bad idea as it will bend as I found out)
  2. I have always used them even for first "Free service" on my Scooby they are great guys service is second to none. On different note how is the suspension what difference ahs it made and was it as I expect many thousands to have done
  3. Saw the film on monday night basically its same as all the others a bit pants and the fact its third movie chronoligcally speaking does not make sense. The guy Han who dies in Tokyo drift could have be spoken about without seeing him etc i.e. Dom (vin desil could have been back from Tokyo etc) then fiims flow in right order also lets face it drive through a tunnel like thoughs guys an your car is wrecked no getting out the other side etc but hey ho its a jolly high octain romp where yu leave reality behind. i liked the scooby an the NSX at the end ...still a rubbish film though glad tickets were free
  4. Thanks while I am interested (Instrutor rode a CBF on DA) my mechanical knowledge is about as proficent as my knowlddege of ancient Greek and as such I am always warey of a used buy etc (Iknow I Know I should really leran about that thing under the bonnet that goes vrooomm etc) Thanks again for all the comments given the question was not really a scooby related one or even a car one
  5. Thanks for the replys I think I am going to go for a Suzuki Gladius its the replacement for the SV a 650 naked twin. Still going to keep the scooby as its jst the best car ever an now that I drive it less (3500 miles only this year) every time I get in it its special. Just wish I had money to mod the scooby and buy a new bike etc hey ho lottery tickets may come in. Oh btw saw Fast an Furouse last night free preview (glad I did not pay for it) there is a Stub-eye scooby in it with half silver an black paint looks good shame the film was pants Craig
  6. Ok well its been nearly two years of love an joy with my Scooby and time for a change. However being as my bonus just about covered a bus pass this year a new car was not on the agenda. So I made a big leap (for me) and did my bike test. Been meaning to do it since I was 17 so fact I turned 30 last year was incentive to get on with it. Passed first time on the 2nd of april with just 4 minor faults. So that's what's taking the place of a new car, a new bike (assuming I can get the cash together). Decided not to sell the scooby though even though robbing B@stards at insurance company tried to up my premioum by 250% (no accidents or other calims or convictions). Was very odd suffice to say I am not with the same insuerer any more. Are there any other owners on here who also enjoy a balst on a bike an if so what do you recommedn as a first step (did DAS on a 500cc GS Suzuki) I do hope all this finacuial rubbish goes away soon as I love the scooby an really don't want to sell it but cash is much tigheter and a bike is much cheaper in terms of £'s per thrill etc Craig
  7. £570 renewed it it in Feb was £400 before Standard WRX 2007 with Tracker garaged second car Renewal was £1000 9 years no claims when I called insurance company about the quote (an I work for said company) they were unable to expalin why it had more than doubled and were basically not interested in my custom any more hence went elsewhere I question insurance as I drove 3000 miles in the scooby this yeatr had no accidents and did 37k in otehr car an had no accidents etc so its like burning £570 as I live in low crime area car is garaged has a traker etc etc p's me off
  8. I too have a 07 WRX STI with full Haywood an Scot System includiong down pipe love the sound etc so yeah i would say do it also what sort of turbo upgrade are you thinking of, this is something I have thought about but have no idea where to start as my knolwedge of engines starts an finishs with where its located.
  9. Thanks guys....now here is wher eI have to admit i know bugger all about what goes on under the engin. How would I check power steering system etc without pulling my car apart i.e. is this a simple thing to check. Also as car has a remap an haywood an scoot system on it I can't take it to subaru main dealer as i am sure they would say warrenty was void (though how this would affect the power steering after 12 months since I had work done who knows)
  10. Hi guys just got the car out of the garage after 2 weeks and noticed steering was very heavy mainly when turning left. Car is a 2007 WRX only 12.5K on the clock an serviced every year in last 12 months only done 3000 miles in it so was surprised the car just sitting there would havea fault. any suggestions before I take it to the garage an get fleeced thanks Craig
  11. I agree in part with some of ARM's posts and that is Subaru tried to change there brand identity going for the hatch back market. No Scoobs were great lookers like say an Alfa Bera is or a DB7 or even an old Mazda MX 5 but they did stand out which was part of the appeal when I bought my Hawkeye in 07. Credit crumch reciession etc is affecting car sales an the question is, given the same funds would you buy a focus (say a 1.6 with average spec) or a Impreza no turbo with heavy AWD and similar looks......... Answer really is glaring Subaru made great performance cars and very average regular cars, take away the turbo an what have you got a heavy car with a AWD function you just don't need. Rather than make the hatch back in 08 if thats what they wanted to do they might have thought about a new name with the impreza either dying off or being a seperate model line i.e. like merc who share parts an platforms across the range. Lets be honest when times are tough you switch to that which is cheap an a known quantity not the new kid on the block that does no better than its rivals
  12. Sorry to hear about your job loss etc I think its just a sign of the times nots just banks that are getting kicked after all it was banks lendiong to everyone (that includes Ford Subaru GM etc) that allowed so much to be done by so many sadly the many could not pay back an the banks saw the cupbaords were now bare. Ford an Citron are according to SKY going to announce withdrawal also so thats that no need for a Focus RS (whats the best that they make 2 production runs then cut it) No more Seat Cupra R's and well who needs a 380S when no rally team oh an Aston selling big chunk (aston owned by Pro dirve an Kuwait investment authority) GM an Chrysler out of cash (not sure what good cars the later makes) Hmmmm what motorsport will be left Audi at Leman maybe
  13. makes you wonder if there is no WRC team then do they need to sell a 4wd turbo model either Sad day indeed they already made the saloon a hatch an no looks like that hatch will be the final hatchet in an icon Still I would rather scooby pull out of rallying for a few years keep above water then come back than go under completly
  14. So sad for the chip shop owner an owner of the car an well as has been mentioned the families of the 4 who died (if it was your kids even if they were theiving scum bags you would be devistated) but other than that I agree while its a waste of life they only have them sleves to blame, I wonder if the last screams were as loud as the laughter that no doubt accompanied the beging of the night when the stole someones pride an joy. I recall a documentry about punishment beatings in northan Irland where one chap had been nauiled to a fence for repatedly stealing cars (this was after being kneecapped the first time 6 months before) All he said was what have I done to deserve this........perhaps he should have phoned a friend bottom line you break the law then get hurt or killed well tough sh!t good riddens to the little C@nts
  15. lol lol good news hmm well duty has been increased to off set the fall in Vat but wait...... fule prices like equitys are constantly changing winter sees oil price rise so....here's the real funny bit Fule goes up Vat as a proportion goes up and even if demand is down duty is fixed so lets all thank the goverment for selling us down the river and lets face it who ever gets in next time is going to push road tax up an up but don't worry state scrounging work dodging f'ck wits will recive more to help them pay for beer an fags and we can all watch our scoobys sit in the garage an rot from lack of use Thanks for nothing Alister you an GB can go take a flying jump ok rant over lol
  16. Am I the only person who has ever wanted to do this I have had a look on the weeb to answer my own question and there are a number of options I liked what I saw at Sccoby clinic but its miles from where I live. Basically I want to know if anyone else has done this and if they liked the end result Or should I just give up and consigne such thoughts to room 101 along with underbody light kits, 3 spoke alloys and burberry seat covers lol
  17. Hi all, quick question I have a 2007 WRX and have an STI style rear spolier but would also like the roof vain one to. Does anyine know where I can get one and get it fitted to. Ideally I want the real thing rarther than a look a like. Thanks Craig
  18. Mate when i was 17 I wanted a Golf Gti (no chance of insurance). I ended up with a 1.0 Fiesta C reg lol and I still scuffed it etc in the first year. My advice like all others is simple get a cheap knock about car to learn in for a few years enjoy the freedom of driving get som NCB and then think about a scooby. Oh an on a sadly darker note the few people I do know who hat quick cars at 17, 4 of them in an XR3i were killed before they reached 18. Driving is lots of fun speeding like a t**t is just heart breaking.
  19. 29 got it when i was 28 and to all thoese lucky f'cks where are under 25 at that age I was in Uni some most poweful transport I got in was the Train lol
  20. lol lol lol lol lol what a bunch of Chav's funny all the haters out there make me love the scooby even more and i am sorry but there is no way some frnech front wheel drive sh!t box driven by the same driver on same track is never going to keep up with a classis lol still loved the "206180's are mint" comment lol what a c@ck who I would bet £100 is not old enough to drive
  21. Oh I would agree I love my 07 because in a way its ugly to the point that its cool unlike say a 350z that is supposed to look cool and sexy. I guess when end of year rolls round (not long now) and if I do get a half decent bonus then I will have to test drive the 08 and make an informed choice then...still even if it is dynamically the dogs bits you have to admit it does look a bit like a focus ;-)
  22. Thats basically my point. I think 30K for a car or anything other than a house is a huge sum of money and sadly as I am not a footballer or sum such media lovey and therefore live in the real world 30k is a huge chunck of moeny out the door. So I am not sure I can justify it on a hatch back etc if I am not 100% happy. Also other major hurdel is the Mrs who will not buy a used car (don't ask she pays 50% so she get her way on this one). I think reality is if i want a scooby again it will be closer to the 10k mark and i will have to buy it on my own. Still i love the blob eye so maybe in 6 months i will be able to pick up a nice used one within smaller budget and the Mrs will then get a coal powered run about with 3 years warrenty and massive dealer mark up lol
  23. Well it's almost 18 months of Scooby ownership and I have loved every minute of it (even the two trips to my place by scuff an chips to repair parking erros lol). My car is fab runs better than anything I have owned before and puts a huge grin on my face. but.... as its coming up to the end of the year and I am trying to put the pennies aside for a new car (read waiting for bonus and holding breath). I want another scooby but I don't want an 08 hatch back much like when I bought current car (07 WRX Hawkeye) I did not want a focus ST or a Golf Gti or the new type R (had the old one). So what am I to do the other half loves the look of the New EVO in white and I agree to but its not a scoob. Has anyone bought the new 08 and found that as a weekend driver it inspiers the same love an big grin factor of the older models? Option 2 is sell current car by nice new shiny car that runs on Derv or Coal etc and then buy a classic either way i want a car that lives in the garage 25 out of 30 days in the month but on thoes 5 days makes the out lay all worh while.
  24. ok breath back now...... £40K spent lol on what making a Classic produce 280BHP and look like a day glow lump of snot End of day I like the idea of modding your car and one man's work of art is anothers nightmare if i had £40K to spend though it would be on a Type 25 not on adding more exhausts and a Stero that would to quote the add "Smash the pavement" lol Each to his own i guess
  25. I work for an investment bank in canary wharf but you will excuse me if I don't wish to say which. Deal works like this they promise to beat all quotes by at least £30 which is not a lot but my other half also works in insurance so the discount was on top of what she could get for us. Hence £350 a year. To put it in perspective the Corsa we drive costs £170 a year fully comp too. Best quote we had without discount was about £700
