About CLIVE280373

  1. Forstly my 07 wrx sl has standard exhaust and is quiet as a mouse. Yes i probably would upgrade to a stainless when necessary but the standard size. My car reverses just like any other, very smooth and i dont notice any tyre nois. The ride is much better than i expected. Just like many saloons i have had in the past. Very nice and solid but not too hard at all. Maybe this is the sl spec, yet cornering is a delight.
  2. And forgot to say but they are not noisy at all. Mine is totally standard 2.5wrx sl and no one could believe how quiet it was when i bought it. It when they are modified mainly and have different exhausts and dump valves fitted. You just get a nice sweet noise from the turbo on acceleration. But even that shouldnt be too noisy so avoid any that are. You barely notice them running if they are standard and running properly.
  3. Firstly they are solid and as long as you look after them and dont abuse them too much then they dont go wrong. I am 36 and pay £955 insurance, but with 2 accidents on from a previous type r which were my fault. I can not fault them at all. Its the best all round car i have ever driven. I purposely found a low mileage Hawkeye which was previously owned by Subaru UK, so that i didnt have to worry about how it had previously been driven. As for theft they have Thatcham 1 alarms and imobilisers and mine has been parked in a layby every night with no problems at all. Its not a joy riders car because its not easy to pinch. And if its nicked to order then it doesnt matter what car it is or where its kept. They will have it, so no point worrying. I have not spent a penny on mine and tyres and brakes are like new and done 9000 miles on a 07 plate. I am actually selling mine to finance a house with the girlfriend. Suggested i kept car and we didnt get a house but didnt go down too well. ah ah. I have a silver 2.5wrx sl with the leather heated seats and basically much nicer interior than the basic model and i absolutley love it. If mileage is not a big issue then buy one cos you wont regret it.
  4. I have a 07 plate 2.5 WRX SL silver with less than 10,000 on clock. But regretably i have to sell it and wondered if anyone had any ideas as to what sort of price i could hope to get private and where and how best to sell it. Had some ridiculous trade in prices from dealers. It was owned by subaru uk before me and looks new still. As it would with that kind of mileage.
  5. I am going to smooth clay bar mine. I think this will remove the contaminants on the paint and the surface rust dots and then going to re-wax it. Will let you know how it goes.
  6. Just noticed some surface rust spots on the drainage area around the outside of the boot seal and also on the roof of the car. The car has only done 5k an has been sat around at a dealers for the past 2-3 years, so i think its where water has been sat for a long time and rust has develope within the water. Anyone noticed the same problem. It wouldnt be covered by the warrenty because the rust has to start from the inside out and preety sure it is on the surface of the paintwork only. Unless anyone knows different. Any ideas on how to remove and then protect against further rust.
  7. If the car is in as good a condition as you say then being honest will help more than someone finding out by way of HPI. I may mean you have to make a slightly lower deal than you wanted so just start the price a little higher, within reason.
  8. Can anyone tell me if it is normal for the engine when warm to have a slight stutter. The revs appear stable on idle but doo drop slightly lower the longer it is left but stay visibly constant. However i can feel what is like a slight misfire through the car itself. Does not cut out or appear to be causing any problems, but this is my first impreza and i am use to a very smooth running type r. Also i have noticed the brake feel quite heavy. Again i am use to a light type r with very light and responsive brake pedal, but on the impreza the braking seems to require quite a bit more effort, as in weight put on the pedal. It stops brilliant and i have not yet noticed any ABS interuption as i use to on the type r in slippy conditions.
  9. Just got my first WRX and have a few queries. Can someone tell me if the boot lid is normal with no spring effect and only stays open if lifted all the way up.
