About t1rone

  1. I'd go for an after burner vortex, nice burble and look fantastic. I paid over 200 quid for mine (new) a few months back and there is someone selling a used one in the for sale section which looks a good deal mate!
  2. Any body on here installed the laser deflectors in their bonnets as theyre supposed to be 100% guaranteed to deflect laser guns off your car. Thinking of having it done myself but was quoted about 300 quid which is a bit steep, as has already been said the s5r seems to be a bit over sensitive!
  3. Yes thats the post I saw mate. My first thought was it was a bad idea but when I saw the photos I thought the wheels looked quite impressive on the car!
  4. Yes, someone posted photos up of their hawkeye STI which was blue with white 18 inch wheels on and it looked pretty good. Going off memory they were Inovit white alloys and it looked pretty impressive from the photos I saw!
  5. I was in the same position as you last week, my 55 plate STI's warranty was up and could extend it for 12 months for£400. I decided against it cause I've never had any reliability issues with it and if some thing did go wrong would it cost £400 to put right? The question is have you had any problems with it and if so it may be worth extending for peace of mind, but if youre like me and its been a total pleasure to own just take out the 12 months breakdown cover for £70 like me. As for more power, I read somewhere Powerstation were giving 12 months warranties for all performance packages they carry out, may be wrong and you would need to look into how extensive the warranties go but this would be total peace of mind knowing your covered for the work carried out for a further 12 months!
  6. I'd personally start with tinted rear windows, then I'd change the rear spoiler with a larger one. But to me that looks a nice and tidy scoobie and I'd look on Scoobyworld for some ideas and prices so you can put your own personal touch on your car. Bought quite a bit of stuff off scoobyworld myself and you should get some good ideas off there mate!
  7. The log book will tell you all you need to know, but my mate has a 2001 wrx with all the extras and even seasoned Subaru fanatics cant even tell its not a genuine STI. If it is a genuine STI it looks a good deal though cause its very low mileage for its year and doesnt look a bad price either! If you have the registration number give it to your insurance company cause they will tell you if its an STI or not cause it will come up as a group 17 or group 20 car!
  8. Not to sure if thats an STI to be honest with you mate, its got the low level spoiler and the STI badge isnt a standard one either. If you go round to look at it have a look at the log book to make sure its an STI but my opinion is that its a standard wrx made to look like an STI in which case it isnt worth that kind of money!
  9. These changes would put your car over 300 bhp as long as you have a suitable re-map with them. Bear in mind though you will invalidate your warranty ( or remainder of it) if you re-map your car and with it being a 270 I'm guessing you'll still have 2 years or so left. Dont want to pour cold water on your plans but this is something to consider before going ahead with the mods!
  10. De-resonated centre section and Blitz nur spec backbox should do the trick. It has done with my STI but still not as loud and burbly as a full de-cat unfortunately but still sounds pretty good!
  11. Thats scandalous. I'd have said bill me for the service then I'd have taken it elsewhere for the pads and fitted it with aftermarket ones like Mintex or EBC!
  12. Hi mate I'm 26 with a 2005 STI. I have 7 years ncb and pay £1300 parked on a driveway. If I was you I'd go for a WRX as they are group 17 as opposed to 20 and build up another 2 or 3 years ncb. We are now over 25 which is good in the eyes of insurance companies but on these cars I think they are after at least 3 years ncb. Personally I wouldnt pay that kind of money out for insurance but the WRX is also a superb motor and would be hell of a lot cheaper for you at this moment in time, hope this helps mate but it may also be worth a risk of paying the 3 grand and hoping it drops quite a bit next year (providing theres no claims)!
  13. No, the new tax changes come in from March 2001 when Y reg was in, the 51 plate didnt come in until September 2001!
  14. I think the Afterburner vortex is a good choice, either that or the blitz nur spec will sound superb!
  15. Take it to an mot friendly station, theyll get it through!
