Deputy Dawg says No Problemo Turning up at future meets over the dark months is a good idea in case the vote says run, even a run doon the water would be acceptable. Partial to the wee bit of tarmac just after the turning for the bridge for testing purposes .....but if it is teeming down then a social gathering talking keech would be equally acceptable. Fortunate our meeting point has V-Power on tap so either option is feasible

Feck them Russell The proof is always in the pudding and your RA is an awesome bit of Jam Roly Poly. Come back bigger and stronger and take all your customers cars to a new level the detractors can only dream of ps It is a nice feeling when AndyF says that you have done a good job prepping a car for him to map

As said before check the hoses between the turbo and manifold as well MAF is also a suspect, so give it a clean with Brake Cleaner Check the pipes around the boost solenoid

Air Fuel Ratio...Reading on R.R to high ?
the squiggle replied to _jac_'s topic in Scottish Scoobies
For a normally aspirated car the ideal AFR is 14 - 1 to give the maximum power, so yes looking at your graph i would say there is a small problem located within the Mass Air Flow meter or the Lambda sensor -
Now that is a torque curve to be proud of, normally i can look at a torque graph and advise people to thier best shift up point to get the best acceleration out of the car. In this case the best advise is to drive it like you stole it, you crazy horse Keep up the good work boss

I also like the way your car jump 300hp in such a short space of time

Air Fuel Ratio...Reading on R.R to high ?
the squiggle replied to _jac_'s topic in Scottish Scoobies
Thats the target area for your car, you crazy horse. With regards to the other peoples readings being a bit off, there could well be an issue with the sensor used to obtain the AFR because too many cars had an issue with AFR for it to be coincedence. Looking at Playsatan's graph for the first run, the AFR drops into the 12.5 region after 5000rpm but on the second run it holds a flat 11.5 after 5000rpm. If this was a direct corelation to the power produced then he would have seen more power on the first run due to the leaner AFR but the first and second run were pretty consistent. This would point, IMHO, to an issue with the wideband sensor not being consistent. With the amount of cars running leaner than safe AFR i am surprised there is not a pile of Subarus and the end of the Industrial Estate with melted pistons. As Craigwrx said, too many for it to be coincedence I should have put mine on the rollers as i know the AFR of my car under load, mapped to 11.2 and 11.2 is what appears on the AFR meter. This was checked after extensive testing with STI_Bandit on the main road.............which was fun Safe AFR for a turbo car is about the 11 - 1 region when the car is holding boost -
Should have strapped the camera to my head with gaffa tape when i was out driving the crazy revving torque mobile. That event will stay with me for a very long time and my signature now reflects this experience

Colin, it looks like your power and torque graph are the wrong way round. Never seen a power band like that before or a torque curve so peaky, 5000 rpm is sure gonna hit like a fecking steam train. 30bhp loss through the transmission is very low for a 4wd car indeed

Peters car hit a boost spike of 1.4bar and then settled at 1.2 bar for the rest of the rev range. So i reckon he got damn good power and torque for only 1.2bar, i have driven Peters car on the road and it certainly hits 1.7bar without any problem. "Where did the figure of 1.4 come from? 321 torque seems OK for that sort of boost but still around 20G territory." Dastek has new software that breaks down the graph into 4 parts. AFR Boost Power Torque Gerry commented that if a car failed to meet target boost on the rollers he could adjust the ramp rate and this would help the car meet target boost. If the turbo had hit target boost then more power/torque would have been developed but Gerry was not aware of what the car was mapped to so ran the car on the rollers like every other car. Next time Gerry will be informed of the cars parameters and the car will be rolling roaded accordingly. I do agree that if max boost had been reached then it would still be in 20g territory, which is no bad thing
