RE:- Induction kits The actual induction kits are not a problem Its the amount of oil they put on it to prevent water ingress in to the engine that is the problem.When i bought my K+N cone filter i plunged it into a bucket of hot water, this removes the oil from the filter then i gave it very light coating of Duck oil. I have had NO problem with MAF contamination RE:- Dump Valves The main problem fitting a aftermarket Vent to Atmosphere dump valve is the ECU has calculated the amount of air that has passed the MAF, when the factory DV operates it expels pressurised gas back into the engine. The ECU will tell the injectors to inject more fuel to keep a healthy Air Fuel Ratio going into the engine When an aftermarket DV opertates it expels the pressurised gas to the atmosphere, the problem is the ECU will still dump fuel into the combustion chamber thinking that there is pressurised air there but it isnt, it has been dumped into the atmosphere, giving a whoosh on throttle lift off The excess fuel that the ECU has injected into the engine now has to places to go, it will either explode in the exhaust manifold/turbo area giving you the popping and banging which is the best case scenario OR RUN DOWN THE CYLINDER BORES CAUSING "BOREWASH". Borewash can cause the cylinder walls to prematurely wear and it will thin your oil dramatically which can knacker the big end bearings If you do fit a VTA dumpvalve then increase the frequency of your oil changes to ensure it is not too thin The loudest VTA is the TurboXS RFL Nothing against dump valves and induction kits just let you know the tech aspect before you purchase and this is coming from somebody who has a K+N kit and NO dump valve fitted what so ever....... Talk about WINDY,Force 10 from Navorone and that was just the noise from my exhaust Highlight of the day was COULTY muffing the Noble, now no disrespect to the Noble owner{nice car mate}.
