Front mount? An STi TMIC is good for over 400bhp so a FM is overkill for the sort of moderate upgrades that Neil is suggesting. Andy.F suggested my getting one when I got my car mapped on the standard WRX TMIC, so I did. I went back to him for some tweeks and the there was practially no change in power outputs with the STi TMIC. The only reason to uprate your intercooler is for safety reasons, it is a support mod as opposed to a power mod.
Might I also be correct in saying that due to the longer pipe-runs with a FMIC, more lag is introduced.
Not sure what age Neils car is but if it is an early classic then it will have the slanted top mount. Replacing this with the newage intercooler is quite a big job. When i was modding mines i spoke to Andy and he said normally the top mount is the way to go but on the early cars the front mount is the best option. As far as the lag goes well i am more than happy with how mines performs with the front mount.

Neil the intercooler upgrade is a good thing as part of other mods ( getting a remap ), on its on you wont see too much improvement. I have an intercooler spray set up you could have if you want it. Since i fitted my front mount it isnt used anymore but again i am not sure how much benefit it would actually give you.

I wouldnt buy a jaw warehouse turbo. Do a search over on soobynet , i am sure there have been a few peole who have bought them and when they get the cars mapped they dont make the power expected. i am sure Andy Forrest even posted up to say a few things about them. Some of the turbos make good power and some dont ( poor Quality control).

getting off the subject of the greatman himself and onto faceless corperations
could prodrive not be one of them they charge for work that can and is done the same for same power outputs by others who are cheaper
so buy buying a dawes device or resistor boost remover chip (superchip)you are ripping of prodrive
so sony or home copy cd or ppp or cheap chip its still classed as ripping someone off and illegal

Cal i cant help with the dccd bit but my insurance on the 555 running 300/300 is down to 350 quid. The mileage is limited to 3000 miles.

I thought the O2 sensor was in the downpipe. What sensor is on the downpipe then?
Is it not the EGT probe, i am sure thats what my cel fix was for when i had the full decat.

I think i am right in saying that you wont have problems replacing the up pipe, its when you decat the down pipe that you get the cel light coming on but there is a fix for that.

Remember when fitting the sti intercooler that to get the full benefit you will also need to replace the scoop undertray and rubber seal that sits round the edges of the intercooler.
