  1. Check you are going to get the correct service done, an 8 year old service is very different to a 60k one ;)

If the car has been serviced to schedule, your 8 year one is an oil & filter change with the normal level checks

A 60k service is oil, air, plugs, fuel and all drivetrain oils - not the end of the world but a different service all together.

As for parts, good quality parts are available without going to the dealer. Check your service history if you have one :)

  2. truthfully now getting more info i still think this could have been handled a hell of a lot better. i know its not easy for anyone involved but some of the excuses are weak. as for the issue on members and non members. how can non members have a say or post? if thats the case why do i pay my membership. non members should be able to look only. christ if i am not logged on to the page i cant leave a s message and i am a paid member :tumbleweed:

Things that have been argued, debated and mulled over multiple times Alun, as you said 'you can't please them all'

  3. am a bit dissapointed at the turn of event of the scottish scoobies sidc page on face book. surely the point of it was to get people onto the sidc club? what better way than that page. it lets future members see what we do and the commerardery we have. why did the so called 'powers that be ' see fit to want ot shut it down. i know there is a ssidc page but there was not a lot of action on it which is why i forgot it was there and added to the new one. i am VERY disapointed at how this has been dealt with as there was no harm in the page , it got people speaking about the club, it let other see the club and it was not bringing the sidc name down in anyway. me personnaly it has tainted my veiw of the sidc club management BIG time . this kind of thing is the impression i got from the . net group and never thought i would see it on here. :hitler::angry:

Alun, I feel that they see facebook as the death of forums

the thing is like i said to phill . use it to post info that links you to the club site , ergo, bring them direct to the site. which he did . what the hell was a matter with that. and no offence to what the admins thought you cannot stop progress so surly embrace it and have a dedicated facebook page with strong links to the club. so many others doin it. or are they scared of change?...............

Few things about this FB page

The powers that be never shut it down - I personally asked Phil to remove the SIDC name from the title for several reasons:

Firstly, he didn't have permission to set it up in the first place. Phil stepped down as VC for personal reasons and to then do something like this without at least having a discussion first was wrong.

Secondly, on more than one occasion within that page there were negative remarks regarding the forum, club and/or committee - these are not acceptable if you are trying to promote the club.

Phil then chose to close it down, rather than amend the title - I see FB as an additional medium to the forum and club where events, threads etc can easily be promoted but people then begin using that medium on FB without the need to go to the club site or forum and this would detract from the need to become a user and or member of SIDC as a club/forum.

Just as you are disappointed because you thought it was a good idea, there were just as many, in fact more, who thought that it was a silly idea, i.e how many SIDC FB pages do we need?

There still is the Scottish SIDC FB page, please feel free to use that. Remember the club is not only Scottish Alun, it's national and to a lesser extent international.

I hope this answers some of your questions, and I would hope that your thread won't escalate into another slagging match about committee etc as it's simply not the case.

  4. SIDC is viewed by them as 'the older type' of owner. I'm old so I'm here.

They don't do so much on the driving side and there have been several attempts to unite for events or track days but these were shunned by various folk for various reasons.

The state of our economy has hit the type of folk who made SIDC meets large and successful - I for one cannot be ar$sed going to a car park, rubbing other folks exhausts and talking sh!te - I want to drive my car - simples! :Scottish-flag:

  5. 6 months on, 6 off - tax for six and insure for all - better to be kept inside throughout the winter it won't do it any good sitting outside - disconnect the battery - it doesn't need starting every so often and if you park it up with low fuel just brim it when you are ready to use again

  6. I just wanted to say thank you to you all who attended. It feels great to be part of this club and I was proud to see so many like minded folk have a great AGM with some light hearted banter flung in amongst the more serious parts.

Thank you to all those who travelled, some much further than others. I feel excited about forthcoming events both this year and next.

    Good times :)

  7. Just to say thank you to Gordon G1983 for coming to me yesterday to let me try a couple of parts to fix my Fozzy - MAF was the culprit, still sourcing one - very kind of you.

There was an upside to this kind gesture for all SIDC forum users too, for an hour or so he wasn't able to post shite! :rotfl:

Just kidding big guy - thank you :)
