  1. CooL! Might be heading up to INV tomorrow so will give the tesco Rocket Fuel a go.. Especialyl for the price! P.s. bbigman2000, could be wrong but I think I followed you for 1/2 mile coming out of elgin tonight at aroudn 7:50pm or thereabouts. Was certainly a nice WR1 took off infront of me []
  2. Looking forward to this.. But what I'd really like is a decent physics engine and not the console style arcade handling where just about anything goes. Earlier CMRally games were most playable, recent ones although nice, lack realistic handling IMHO.. But then how shoudl I know I don't go rallying [:'(] Recent cars have felt too light and dont feel that they turn at the front wheels if that makes sense.. Thei've clearly spent time on DIRT so got me fingers and toes crossed. If it's really good I may even buy one of those new Logitech G25 wheels []
  3. ... Typical evo... they cant win without cheating [] I believe it's from this film The Legend of speed http://www.lovehkfilm.com/reviews_2/legend_of_speed.htm Strong similarities to the recent Need For Speed games in that video footage..
  4. Replied [] & for anyone else who wants it the POI locations for shell stations on satnav you can download it here: http://www.scouk.net/shell_poi.zip
  5. If you've got sat nav I've got a list of shell stations on my TomTom Mobile I can send you the POI file if you like? But yeah, Inverness is about as far north as V-Power goes..
  6. Hey swifty! Did think about glengurbie as another alternative.. Actually started running the car on the raod again today as my alternative form of transport runs out of MOT tomorrow. And just arrived home tonight to find that the tracking on my openport cable says it's arrived in the UK (a week after it left the US) and goind through customs so Woohoo! Shouldn't be long now.. Car seems to be running fine, no silly knocks, lack of power so at a guess if anything it's possibly runnign a bit rich but hopefulyl I'll soom find out. I tell you one thing I've noticed after running around in a Peugot 306 and a Rover 214 cabriolet [] the past week going back to the scooby, makes you realise how well built the impreza really is. Everything just feels no tight and solid cant wait to get rid of that damn light []
  7. Cheers steve! If the cable doesn't arrive by the end of the week I may try that.. Just went out for a wee trip to forres and back to see if I can diagnose anything the old fashioned way (dodgy sounds, lack of boost, stuttering e.t.c.) and found nothing.. all appears well, apart from the CEL light still being on.. I'm going to try and get the wheel alignment booked at GT Tyres this weekend so may make an extended trip through to INV if their open.. In fact need to get some plastic plugs for the bumper /wheel arch so may take a trip along to Aird Motors too.. []
  8. Hey guys/gals, Need a semi-urgent favour. As I reported last week I've got the dreded CEL light on my WRX dash. Ordered a Openport cable from tactrix.com early last week in the hope it would arrive in good time so I can diagnose the problem myself without having a garage charge me £££'s just to tell me that some random sensor needs cleaning. Unfortunately my cable seems to have gotten lost somewhere over the atlantic and I'm still left with a car which I dont really want to use until I find out what the problem is. to make matters worse I'm supposed to be driving down to my bruvs in 2 weeks time (600 odd miles away) and need the car in good working condition for then and it's not looking likely. [] So after that we bit of background if anyone in the area has a suitable cable that they can let me borrow for a few days just to check things over it woudl be really appreciated! Thanks in advance,
  9. Cheers for the replies! Got a couple of spare cars in the drive I can use at the moment so I'll maybe run about in one of them for the next few days. Ordered one of those diagnostic Openport cables just now so hopefully wont take long to arrive I believe that in conunction with some fancy software on the laptop will report fault codes for me. [] Was tempted to buy this before, but now I've got a reason.. My amatureish guess would be dodgy sensor kicking up hell as it seems to run fine and not in any sort of "safe mode".. Did a search on SNet and found the restart fix of starting the car 5 times and the CEL sometimes disappears.. didn't work. maybe it's needs the 12.. Other thing is it was really wet on the roads, maybe some moisture has got somewhere it shouldn't.. Will check again in the morning once things dry off a bit. The Bugeye's "should" run fine with the center cat removed by not lighting up the CEL, changing down pipes and up-pipes seems to throw it though. Not somethign I've done.. yet [] Splitter - My dad's having a go at repairing it.. He's done the odd repair over the years on bits' of body work falling apart on vehicles, so I have faith. It's back in one piece, just needs some fillers for the holes and scratches, then a new coat of paint [] Not sure if it will be going back on again though.. Got Prodrive springs put on (along with replacement OEM rear dampers, expensive month!) and the car is running pretty low, with the splitter on it's obviously even lower at the front. Interestingly, did a comparison with my bro's RB320 and even with the splitter on mine with the springs it's still slightly higher at the front than the RB...
  10. Hey guys, Need some advice.. Just about a mile from home tonight the CEL light on the dash came on (2001 Bugeye WRX). Not sure why.. Car seems fine was a nice lesurely drive home nothing racey. Sadly the light comes back on after stopping the car and restarting. Doesn';t flash just contantly on from the point of switchign on the ignition. Any suggestions as to what to do about it? I dont have a Diagnostic system myself so cant check out any fault codes (was thinking of buying one just the other day [*-)]). Is there any easy way to find out what the fault is? (I'm guessing no, not without the appropriate equipment Car had a center decat put in over a month ago along with a new WRSport backbox but everything has been running fine.. Just this damn light came on tonight all of a sudden. Dont really want to drive it until I get to the bottom of the problem.. Thanks in advance for any help, appreciated...
  11. 107.9p in Elgin.
  12. Geez!! Just goes to show that no matter how stupid you feel.. There's always someone, somewhere willing to go that extra bit further []
  13. Ouch!!! That depends... On how strict the rules are... I fitted a ebay splitter onto my bugeye just 20 mins before the recent elgin meet, then a hour or so later, It came off at circa 60mph and broke in three! yeah I know I'm stupid and should have made sure it was more secure, but you live and learn.. Fotunately only harm done was to the splitter..
  14. Hey guys/gals, Just got a set of prodrive springs fitted to my bugeye WRX today and discovered that my passenger side rear damper is on the way out and needs a replacement LHS?. What would be the best thing to do, I see cam skill have a replacement pair for around £140 which is probably the safest option instead of replacing just the one side. Anywhere I can get some cheaper? Or maybe pick up a single damper in good condition. Also I havent got the geometry set-up yet but would it be best to wait until after the new damper(s) is fitted before getting this done or would it not have any affect replacing a rear damper as geometry "should" be the same..? One further thing, [] anyone got a copy of the Prodrive and/or GroupN fast road geometry settings that I can to get my WRX set-up nicely? Thanks,
  15. *drool* I gotta get myself a machine polisher!! ( & some dry weather) I thought it looked great in the first couple of photos... WoW! [] Nice work!
  16. In fairness. (not to turn back on my previous comments) But I agree that educating drivers from an early age is key. If you going to advertsise the problems with dangerous/careless driving then yes I believe it does need hard hitting ads like those above. Perhaps even more realistic! Now with the issues of speed. I cant remember the exact statistic but I think it is something like over 80% of accidents which are a cause of death or injury take place within the legal speed limit!! [] Speed is an issue yes. But that's only because lack of skill and downright common sense don't exist to completment it. The 60MPH limit is a max not a target which is what I beleive what many school of motoring places are encouraging, not happy with that.. Just because the limit is 60 doesn't mean that the road is suitable for that, not every corner is safe at 60 not ever car is safe at 60 and certainly not every driver is safe at 60.... What is seen and heard of all to often is young drivers getting egged on by yer mates to go as fast as you can and seek out the thrill off getting the car drifting on bends at 80 odd MPH.. All very well if your a racing driver on a track, but the roads around us are much narrower, and have no safety margin of tyrewalls and gravel traps to slow you down. You go off you hit a tree or another road user. All for what. A quick thrill! Nah not for me i'm afraid. Education is the key. No direct offence intended here, but young drivers (under 25's) are at serious risk especially when they get behind the wheel of a high power car. Ok the car is probably more capable than their 1.4 saxo but do they have the skill to handle the extra speed and perfomance.. Probably not, despite thinking they do! In saying that What's the first thing most young drivers do when they get behind the wheel? Yep let see how fast 100mph is.. God knows even I did that, and it scared the poopie out of me once I discovered how long it takes to slow down from that speed.. In this case the scare treatment works.. You realise your being very silly. But this can have the opposite affect. If you live to tell the tale you'll probably do it again to get that buzz, (bit like drig addiction, never the same again). I'm a member of the IAM (Institute of Advanced Motorists) and finally even they are starting to see sense. Dont get me wrong the IAM course is a bloomin good idea and I honestly believe every driver should be forced to take it. And if any of you guys haven't I suggest you do.. Pay £30 (or whatever it is) a year after you passed the test but you save lots on car insurance. I save over £100 just because I'm a member of the IAM. OK so not only do you save money, but you also boost you driving skill by a huge amount. Observation is the main focus point and knowing how to use observation while driving.. What the IAM are in the process of dogn right now are putting together a young driver network consisting of under 30's who are already IAM members and creating a younger version of the IAM as many member are.. erm... older, but the main target should be on younger drivers and that's what they hope to target, by getting young drivers speaking to other young drivers.. Their more likely to listen that way.. Ok rant over... Speed is not the sole issue with road safety, drivers mentality to driving is what the problem is that needs to change.. I honestly believe they should do away with the mobile speed cameras (gatso's are probably worthwhile in genuine blackspot areas) and concentrate on educating drivers at the side of the road instead of writing them a ticket.. Something has gotta be done!!! ok, i'm really done now.. honest.... Note: The comments above are my own opinions, and I mention "young drivers" in the general sense. Not all young drivers are careless and dangerous, some are very good drivers.. Just thought I'd mention that before I get flamed [6]
  17. Absolutely!!!! The message clearly isn't getting through to drivers in this country!!! More adverts less speed cameras [6]
  18. LOL! I would believe me.. but he lives in Southampton.. If he ever comes up with it I have to drag him along to a meet. Driving down there next month to drool over it for a couple of weeks.. BTW - 2 days after he got it it had to be returned to garage.. Fuel Leak.. Apparently Dodgy gasket on the fuel sender Clicky to RB320oc [:$]
  19. Here's one! eBay Clicky If I had the money I'd have the RB320.. No question of it.. Next woudl be a Spec D, then boot up the internals to RB spec.. 3rd choise woudl be a full blown STi, then PPP it and stick just about every other Prodrive option on it.. There by making it as good as the RB, at which point you'd spend more than the RB320.. So that's a [Y] from me for the RB320. (Well that and my bruv picked his one up a couple weeks ago *drool* )
  20. Thanks for the confirmation... Didn't know that...
  21. Keith @ 101.9 today [:'(]
  22. Yep that's the leccy mirror switch.. For those that havent spotted it, looks like STi console dash with rev counter in the middle? Not sure if that was on My03 WRX's or not.. Think they still left the rev counter at the RHS at that point. Would still say WRX as I fancy making that change myself if I find a doner STI dash... []
  23. Hmnn... Going for a stab in the dark here.. Was gonna say Engine from a Porsche Carrera GT.. But I'll change that to say: V10 from a F1 car. One of Michael Schumachers V10's Ferrari's from last year?
  24. That sounds promising.. thanks! Sure I have the prodrive settings stored somewhere.. Will have to dig them out again.. (mind you they probably come with the springs)
  25. Poop! Would you recommend that place in macduff? Not too far to travel from where I am....
