Thanx for comments everyone. he was more than pleased with the results and will be getting a full detail soon. I used menzerna intensive polish with a german applicator pad by hand then 2 coats of autoglm srp, sealed with megs#21 and nattys wax. Could have got better results with machine polisher but he was not paying me so just done everything with elbow grease.
My workmate came to me saying his audi quattro was looking a bit old and tired and said he was thinking about getting a full re-spray. Leave it to me mate i said i will sort it out for you. I told him what i done part time and that i could restore it back to near new condition with a machine polisher. He was doubtfull so i said i would only do the bonnet and if he was not satisfied he could just get it resprayed.
i have my work cut out here i think
50/50 shot
Like new again
Do you think he will come back to me and get the whole car done?
Welcome to sidc mate, fine choice in motor and the best colour.
Graphics can be obtained from here http://www.undergroundgraphics.com/shop/default.asp but don't go for day glow as mr welsh will tell you. I have an afterburner b/box with de-cat and de-resonated centre section and it sounds the dogs danglies. Cant really tell you much else about mods i just clean cars.
Have fun.
Sorry to hear this craig, shocking news. Cant really say much about the subject as i'm so shocked. Feel for you mate and wish you my best for getting something sorted out.
Easy enough for a cnc to cut that sort of profile no problem. Have you tried just getting it refurbished? Might be cheaper that way or even buying a new one. A good company will charge around £50 an hour for using a small cnc and i think it would take around 3 hours to do. They would need to measure it all out, cut jaws to grip, get tooling, write a programme then machine it.
How much machining are we talking about here? is it the spokes needing milled or the lip of the alloy needing turned? I'm a machinist but do not have a manual lathe at my work big enough to turn an alloy and the cnc's are way too big but i could maybe reccomend a few places. Just depends what exactly is needed.
Looking absoloutly awesome now andy. Great write up there.
One critisism tho, tesco micro fibre cloths []. Get along to halfords and buy the meg's cloths much better. A recent test done by myself found that the tesco ones actually put minor scratches in the paint.
pm back with you. My workmates were giving it a good look over yest and did notice slight differences. i then sprayed the whole car with water to show them the difference in beading and they were amazed.
Have just shelled out for a complete zymol kit consisting of shampoo, cleanser, wax, pads, mits etc etc. Cant wait to get stuck in with it. going to wait until july to use it tho as all the wax thats on it just now will see me thru til then.
I have not tried it but have seen the results it gives. was on spacemans car before i detailed it. i done a beading test on his and mine and prefered the wax that was on my car (collonite 476)
Went to see a friend from detailing world on monday to try out some new waxes. Looking at buying a new one for the fast and modified show in july so got different wax on each panel of my car so let me know what you prefer.
