Any preferred favourites as upgrades for the old GDA08 WRX stock turbo and waste-gate? All OEM ecu etc at the moment - just wondered what others had tried and tested? Thanks in advance.

Best Wheel Size & Offset For My02 Wrx On Teins?
flat4phil replied to flat4phil's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Alrighty Mr Smillie? Yup the Inovit range in 5x100 fitment and ET45, seems 7½" wide. Some good deals on the usual choices of Tarmac and Redline. I really wanted to aim for the wider stance, hence thinking 8" with the correct offset. Some interesting examples popping up here - @Scooby222 - Any pics of the aforementioned 8½" rims fitted? Love to go some for the wheel choice you fellas with 5x114 have. Still have to stick with the older fitment for now. -
Hi all, It's the usual newbie question on tarty things. 2002 WRX with Tein coil overs, any recommendations for wheel offset and width to clear inside and arch? Looking at 18's so would I be limited to 7½" width, say offset ET45, or can I stretch to 8" wide perhaps with 215's? Thanks in advance.

Who on earth - well up here anyway, has this beast up for sale? No pics just and advert entry. Interesting engine spec.

Whats all this then, Subaru going hatchback for the Impreza?
-
Have had of these fitted to the wife's lowly 1.6 Civic Sport for over 2 years now, and helps with the emissions/ 'lean the burn' - which can allow you to advance your tickover - but little else. Certainly not going to 'melt the engine' (-quote from a former Cavalier owner) and would help bigger cc/ older cars that are struggling with emissions at MOT time. Have never been tempted to attach it though to the Impreza.

Do any of you run part-time businesses?
flat4phil replied to steve_nairn_sti's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Steve, As already stated it is made very easy to start trading - as far as the Inland Revenue are concerned, so nothing more than a generic form to complete to kick off and then once a financial year - the old tax return - which again you won't be able to complete half of. Just make sure you are tidy with your receipts and show remittance advices for all that you pay for. Helps too if you provide customers with an invoice - all a piece of cake as you're into computers. Stationery and web sites/ hosts are cheap & easy to sort - many on the SIDC do this for a living too so no end of contacts. I'd say go for it - but be prepared that some folk are out there to get something for nothing and spotting them is difficult as you will feel obliged to carry out work for them. Try and get items delivered to you, that way people commit to you and you can repair/ upgrade/ what-ever in the comfort of your own home. Oh and get an anti-static wrist band and a direct link to the local Police child-porn hot line - just in case. -
Ciaran, if you want the best available Impreza models around with £1000's spent on them - then keep your focus on the for sale section. Never seen so many ace examples of classics and new age being sold for insultingly low prices. Go outside the forum and the real world catches you up and will not get the same quality or quantity. I know of a Type R in white with all the usual good history, condition, etc., and the dealer wants £10k - been on his books for several months now. P1's are great but at a price - so stick with what ever floats your boat age wise. Great new age cars coming up on the forum every week all cherished. You can do loads styling wise with the 'blob' eyed front end too if that worries you.

Liam will have access to a variety of standard or import bits, you shouldn't have too many problems with Glenburgie. The guys there know what they are doing - may cost a likkle - but what doesn't these days?

Looking for confirmation before I blurt out on another forum on the subject of Rolling Road runs. I understood that the correct procedure requires the tyre pressure to be increased (as noted on the printout) - just wondered with so many on here with experience of dyno's and RR's if this is considered good practice - as so far, I appear the only numpty who has taken any note of this. I thought it was necessary due to the rolling resistance of the rollers?

Are you sure it's not meant to be a 'ditherer' valve for the likes of those Sunday drivers with really no where much to go?

Has Anyone heard of a company called Vehiclelink?
flat4phil replied to Edinburgh-Chris's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Chris, Don't part with any money - no matter how convincing this sounds, if you are selling a car it will sell on the trader website or locally I'm sure may take a month or two, but don't waste money on these telesales shams. You never heard of them, same with others, so where do they get these punters queuing up? When I buy a car - I don't go through an 'agency' - live and learn - but these calls keep going? -
Making your inter cooler work right, needs a new bonnet.
flat4phil replied to JohnSt's topic in Scottish Scoobies
Come on any ideas what it's going to be - I'm intrigued too? Perhaps a new type of updraft vent for wisking the hot air away, ala Evo? Or slam panel plate? I'm on the edge of my seat here! -
That's a pretty good starting block....if you know the rudimentary basis upon which electronic information is created and translated in the 'mapping' process - there is more to you than you perhaps think? Andy Forrest would be a very good person to take up your reigns.

Probably not drawing in as much hot air from the engine as with the induction cone. Also the length of the flexible collar between the filter (inlet) and the MAF unit can make a difference too - a bit like the old days when you had bell mouths on twin 40 DCOE Weber, or Dellorto carbs. Too short, or too long made a big difference to air/ fuel mixture. Just get a performance filter element to fit your air box?!

Hey hey, just had confirmation back from Simon Bower at Japerformance in Ellon - He can remap my GEM's implant [] Excellent news so I thought I'd share the info just incase others up here have the need.
-
Rab - there was a chap on (dare I say it ) ebay who advertised upgrade maps and chips sets for the earlier Classics. He sounds genuine and had a healthy 'seller ID' score: 114 (that was back in January this year). Look for s_taylor or ScoobyECU (I think that was his id on scoobynet.co.uk . Or you could try www.scoobyecu.co.uk - I know nowt about the fella or his products - but certainly he had advertised what appeared to be very well researched ecu upgrades, seemed to know his Impreza's and wasn't asking 'after market tuning-shop' money either.
-
I don't think you can. Thought you were to get an Apexi Power FC big bucks jobbie? Or maybe there is an Ecutek implant board you can install, then enjoy all the mapping you want?
-
It's a 'Steve Simpson' map that I'm running at the mo'. No real problems with the whole kit - but I don't know the map and it could well be that a tweak or two improves matters no end. Thanks for the reply though.

Any Ideas? Least Expensive Boost Control Device?

Fai 17, many thanks for the info. Obviously depending on time spent - but typically what sort of cost does this chap command? I assume Dastek don't have a GEM's wizard then?[]

Think I might snatch that off you then - would you have any info on installation too (don't want much do I?). -
FAB! That would be much appreciated, even if just to discover who, where and so on, but it would also be very useful to be able to know what map my car is running and whether it needs a tweak or three?! Thank you

Okay - thanks, I'll wait for fai17 to come along or I'll pm the man.
