  1. Cal, I can make your decision slightly easier by saying that there is no way in this world my car will be leaving it's garage for the price you've offered me. It looks like the best idea for you is to stick with a scooby wagon.
  2. HI Frank. I've had T1R's on my last two cars and T1S's before that. I just can't see past them. Great wear, great grip, specifically in the wet (Which we seem to get a lot of!) and pretty low road noise. For the money, can't think of a better tyre for fast road use. HTH.[H]
  3. Are you sure your fronts are legal? I've been doing a bit of reading on this lately for my new motor and I'm pretty sure that you're not allowed to retrofit any grade of tint to your front side windows after a certain date. Cars that had the tint fitted prior to said date (Can't remember the exact date) can be no darker than 35%, but now no tint can be fitted. I'm sure I've read this on a couple of scottish tinting websites. I could be wrong but it'd be worth checking out....
  4. I hate using the word "detailer". It's such an Americanism. However, if you're after a decent job, I can wholeheartedly recommend these guys. The quallity of worksmanship is incredible and the guys are as knowledgeable as anyone in the business. I've known Mike for many years and he's done my car. These guys are detailing cars for the likes of Rioprestige. Just check out their site and see the proof of quality. Please don't deem this as an advertisement. It's purely a testiment to the company as there are to so many other companies on here. If you want a top drawer job done, tell them I sent you and see what they can do for you. As a side note, they frequently travel the country so no matter where you're stationed they'll be able to get to you. (Andy Forrest stylee!) www.extremedetail.co.uk Extreme praise complete![Y]
  5. I didn't realise we were stilll in 1995... Confused. [:^)] Here's me thinking it was 2007...
  6. Agree with Brian.... Alyn at asperformance sorted me out quickly and for a really good price. [y]
  7. Hi Dave, Yeah, it's a local sale mate. My buddy in Culloden went for it and I've told him what a friendly bunch you all are so I'm sure he'll make the effort to pop along and see you all if he's not working. The new sale hasn't been completed yet but IF all goes to plan, it will be four wheel drive and have a turbo... [:-*] And a happy new year to you too!
  8. I got a borg and beck one for my old STi that was pushing out over 300bhp and it seemed to handle the job okay. Bu66ered if I can remember any part numbers though! It was a cheapie fix. Only cost around 150 for clutch and 100 for fitting.
  9. Well, the scooby has been up for sale for a few months now but no longer. A good friend of mine has decided to splash the cash and take ownership. He's getting a good car and I'll be sad to see it go but onwards and upwards as they say. I've passed on information on Scottish Scoobies to him so hopefully he'll be along to say hello before too long. Haven't actually parted company with the steed yet. He'll be picking it up towards the end of next week but I'm offshore on Saturday morning so I only have a couple of days left to enjoy it! I'll pop along to the next meet when I'm home to reveal my new motor. Until then, thanks for the memories! []
  10. I agree, it's not a lot of money that you're asking if the car is mint. Mine's a 52 plate and I'm asking £12,600.... and it's not an STi. I've had quite a bit of interest too so Russ to imply that Dave's asking too much is wrong in my opinion. If the car is worth the money, someone will pay for it. Good luck with the sale Dave.[Y]
  11. Thanks gents. Looks like a bung is the way to go! My neighbours are eternally grateful to you all![Y][]
  12. Right, I have a pretty loud exhaust setup on the car (As I'm sure most of the locals will testify to!) I'm not in the slightest mechanically minded and all the mods were done before I got the car. I want to get the car sounding quieter without losing any/much of the power. What are my options and what are they likely to cost? Harcd to quantify without knowing exactly what setup I have! What should I be looking for that would indicate what cats are/are not in place etc? I know I have tubular headers and I'm sure it's de-catted but I don't know which cat or even how many are on the bugeye!! (Really showing my lack of knowledge here!) I don't really want to lose the back box because it looks just right. So my questions are these: What factors affect the noise level of my exhaust? What options do I have to make it quieter without breaking the bank? Will I need a remap after the exhaust is changed and what would the adverse affects be if the car wasn't remapped? (Car is a bugeye WRX running 327bhp so has a few mods) Can anyone recommend a system that sounds nice but not cringeworthy? Does anyone want a REALLY loud exhaust at a reasonable price?????????? Thoughts appreciated....
  13. In support of Ally and the other central members, I had a post in the general section about a possible Highland Santa Cruise. The amount of support we were offered from "down south" was fantastic. So I have to say that I disagree with your suggestion that the members North of Perth are discriminated against. "We up north are doing a wee charity day a week on Sunday, All be it on a far smaller scale, has it been recognised?" If you want it recognised, MAKE it recognised mate. Did you ask for it to be made sticky? Were any of the moderators even aware of the post? IMHO, us northerners are treated as well as we would expect to be treated and are made more than welcome. Now, time for me to [:#]
  14. The general concensus seems to be that Alyn at ASPerformance is the man to get yer brakes from. The price below is for a 2002 WRX but I imagine STi is similar DBA 9 groove discs are around £170 the pair. Mintex M1144's are £90 or DS2500's are £130ish I think. I just ordered some new discs, pads and goodridge hoses and they were at the house within a week. Good service like. Got the brother in law to fit them as I'm offshore so they should be fully run in by the time I get home. Can't wait![Y]
