  1. The KW's that I had on my RS were absolutely brilliant, and had been fitted secondhand, and are now on Big Neil's Terzo now, so we'll see how long they last. Teins have gone right down in my estimation, if I were going for something, it would be KW's, Bilstein or Koni (or Ohlins when 5 numbers and 2 bonus balls come up)

2 year warranty is appealling, was it V1's you had?

  2. I thought Tein were meant to be one of the best. Suppose Eibach or Bilstein won't take as long if something happens.

I'm getting feed up with my KYB's 9 months since I overhauled them and I now have play in then and started to knock. Considering Eibach coilovers now I hear Tein have problems.

  3. he said it would cost 3200 quid for a full engine rebuild

That will be the price of a full forged engine I was half the price using a 2nd hand block, it's just trying to find a decent one. Best getting one from someone getting a big build as scrappies and ebay you could be buying a dog.

I was fortunate and got Braveheart's original block.

If you do sell and buy another in the future remember don't rush in to buying a scooby there are a lots that are sold with issues and problem like you have found out. If you need advice the forum is always here to ask question or post up potential cars.

  4. That's difficult Robert. I would make a blank nut to fit the end of the hose then. You'll lose a little but not all.

    Thanks Baz,

Had thought that might be the case. If I find a good method of blanking I'll post up.

  5. Type R won't be ready and Newage the clutch is slipping. :brickwall:

So what to do..... :brickwall: Bringing Mandy's Merc C280 and may mate is heading up in his girlfriend BMW 330Ci so we are having a battle of the Germans. :P

Wouldn't mind a pax in a scooby just to get my flat4 fix. :censored:

  6. Sti pretender the blobeye with the flared rear arch molding ie 05 onwards is 114.3 pcd sleiper has a 06 Sti 114.3 pcd aswell

Sorry thought Leslie was looking for 100pcd should have read her signature at the bottom. Would only have taken me 30mins from work.

Actually never tried the front but definitely fits the rear.

  7. Does that mean if you get a problem with the tyre .The space saver that comes in the Sti will not fit over the standard brembo caliper ????

My spacesaver fits on and 06 STI (114.3pcd), sounds like someone's put the wrong spacesaver in not knowing about clearing the brembo's.

Would lend you mine but wrong pcd.

  8. Looks good, but I would suggest a lower height, maybe so the stem is flush with the bonnet height so the display part is half above the bonnet height and half below!

Going to have look at that see what suits best.

  9. Would a thing for reading music not work and if you went round some of the auction's you would probably pick them up for a pound each if your lucky

We need something a more robust as the car sits on these to stop them blowing over and getting knocked over, would hate to see someone's pride and joy scratched a stand fell, also the holder provides protection for the car sheet.

  10. Looking good Robert, you could possibly add a little dispenser tray for holding SIDC flyers so those who are interested may just make the effort and pick one up! Well done.

Yes, it's just and A4 plastic holder and you can get the same on for leaflets.

  11. Ok, been looking at ways of improving the stand for this years shows and been looking at display stand for the car details, prices seem to start at £45 so if we had 20 cars thats £900.

Had a go at making one.

Bit rough around the edges and could do with being 800mm high instead of a metre but total cost around £17.

  12. You going to fit them yourself?

I fitted a set on Saturday to the Type R, fairly straight forward. Left the height a little higher than I want to allow for settlement, will check them this weekend. Then will get the car to Hypertech for a geometry (once I service the calipers).

  13. I know with the blobeye shock's you could strip them down remove the grease and put new grease In them. This would save you buying new shock's. My mate did this on his blobeye and it worked the shock's were like new after it. Not sure if you can do it with the hawkeye though.

    Steve

I did this back in June last year and have had no problems. The springs don't damage the shocks it is purely the grease that solidifies and this causes the knock. Late model Blobeyes and Hawkeyes are the same suspension with the 114.3 PCD and 10mm wider track, from what I know you can do it with all KYB's.

    Discussion and tips.

  14. Might be worth a chat with Ian Godney of Godspeed, he gave me good advice for my R as V3's are a nightmare to upgrade.

In theory you'd need a fitting kit for the calipers to fit to the backplate and don't know if the discs would be suitable being slightly smaller. As other have said you'd need some serious kit for the front or use a bais control if you can't get something big enough.
