We've been approached by the Autosport International Show to see if we would like a stand at this years show in the Birmingham NEC, they are offering a stand and entry to all members with cars on the stand.
Phil has been kind enough to volunteer to deliver the SIDC trailer so all we need is the cars. We attended this show 2 years ago and it was a great success.
Autosport are looking for good and varied examples of our cars, if we have a full stand we'd also be looking for volunteers to represent the SIDC. As this is a 4 day show the cars will need to be at the NEC for Wednesday night (12th January) through to Sunday evening (16th January). We are discussing with Autosport on the possibility of getting the cars clean so they look there best for the show, I will have more on this tomorrow once I talk to them and the times/details for entry.
The show has:-
The Fifth Gear Live Arena
The F1 Grid
Stars of Motorsport
Autosport central stage
Rally Display
McLaren Showcase
and loads more. http://www.autosport...nal.com/public/
Please add your names to the list so we can inform Autosport of the numbers.

Thanks to everyone who came along today all the cars looked great. Big thanks to Graeme for the stickers and fitting them all.
Unfortunely the hospital was unable to provide staff for the us to visit a ward but they were overwhelmed with the generousity the club show donating all the presents.
You'll be able to see the full write-up in True Grip, if anyone has good photos send me a copy and we'll get some included in the article.
It only leaves me to say thaks to everyone who has contributed to this years Santa Cruise.
Oh... and thanks for the tinsel attack. :biggrinsanta: Lets see the photo :waving-santa:.

Get your trunks on man.
So how many raffle tickets will I put you down for. :biggrinsanta:

The upside is I drove home on deserted roads on Monday.
-
Nice to have a volunteer to take over from Dale, the RO's forum is a lot suggestions for the future of the club.
-
Friday 10th December 3pm will be the last time for tickets via Paypal, as I won't be back online after that before the meet.
-
The thread was locked to stop any more silly in-fighting, we don't need this if we want to re-build the club.
As for locked threads the Committee has lock threads in the past.
-
I think this topic has gone on long enough, this could drag on and on. I'm going to lock the this so we have no more disagreements, fallouts, apologise, kissing and making up.
Lets move on and all work together as one big happy Subaru Community.
-
Things are in hand, we will be addressing fees, member packs and benefits.
Also the club if for members they should know how it is being run and what the money is spent on.
Well said Wilky, once we know where we're going we can look at trying to get other clubs affiliated with SIDC.
-
Splitting SIDC wouldn't benefit anyone, we have a great club and forum and the future is to build on that.
As for the Scooby Ball the first Scottish one was held this year and it was a great success, hopefully we can revive interest in the club and will be able to host the southern Scooby Ball again.
I don't see a reason why SIDC would stop attending events like Japfest or Rallyday, each region will still have the same equipment they had before if not more. Promoting the club as much as possible can only benefit the club so it wouldn't be in the clubs interest not to attend.
-
Have to agree Stu, Phil has done an outstanding jobs over the years. Thanks for all the hard work.
What he doesn't know is in volunteering for Events Organiser is we're expecting him to have the high heels and mini skirt on for all the shows and pose provocatively on the bonnet for photos.
-
Sorry you feel like that Karyn and need to post on the open forum, the simple fact is the majority of committee positions were taken by Scottish members was due to the lack of volunteers from England & Wales. The most active section is Scotland, based on Andy's figures.
As for shows and events I will be fully supporting Phil and JohnS to continue SIDC's attending as many shows as possible. Once we know the financial standing of the club we will be looking at improving stands and equipment and budgeting for replacing equipment once it passed it's best.
I'm sure Dale and Glyn are well aware of the amount of work they are taking on with the role of Membership Secretary as was discussed on the RO's Forum, they are of the opinion that between them they can make the role work. On the committee voting one member one vote will be the rule.
The new committee members aim to build on the reputation SIDC has and make it a bigger and better club.
-
What the hell was I think, I must be mad.
Well that's it offical I'm now the Chairman and can moderate you as I see fit.
Dunk is right although we have 700 odd members we have very few active. Membership wise Karyn was getting 30-40 per month, there are lifetime members that account for the rest.
Certainly the Scottish RO's have some good ideas for the club. We will be working hard to get a better understanding of the current position the club is in and seeing what we can implement to make it better.
We will all be working hard over the coming months and will be updating members on any news.
-
Thanks for the welcome Stu, obviously with lots of new committee members it will take a bit to find our feet but we will be working hard to make the club bigger and better.
