Might have been me Rich.
Happened to me on the newage couple of years ago, jammed the steering as I turned left. Wasn't going fast but still got the heart racing.

Yes, I have one I'll bring it tomorrow.

Might be a silly question have you checked the wires into the connector for the ecu and sensor. If a bypass was run it would be tied in after coming out the connectors. If everything has been replaced and Andy and Steve can't see anything i might be something really simple.
Just thinking back to a starting problem that Richie had in his Type R when he had an intermitant starting problem, tried everything to solve the problem (ecu swap, starter, etc) until he found a tiny break in a wire in the connector to the ecu.
Hope you get it sorted.

The second one is the same one I have in the Type R and it works fine.

I have mine fully open make life more interesting.
You'll get use to the Type R it's just a bit different form most things you'll ever drive.

Hi & welcome.
I work with your mate Grant, he mentioned today you'd joined the forum.

I'd take it in yourself and get someone to come out on a test drive with you to hear the noise. It is a well known problems and plenty people on here including me have been back to Ian Grieve to get them fixed.

It isnt really, the times are often close but points wise its not close at all, I cant mathematically catch Jim for the Scottish Class so have already relinquished that, but cant see anyone catching me for 2nd. The lowlands isnt that close points wise either.
Sorry meant times, with different cars, power, setup and tyres. Hopefully I'll get along as a spectator to a couple of events, never know I might get the bug and want to join in.

Enjoying this thread Arch, amazing how close the class is.

We should be back to fund your project next month now the Glasgow runs have finished.

Robert, you are down for the kirkentilloch canal festival on the same day
Doh, was thinking it was September. Will be in Kirkie on the 29th.

I fancy this will try to make it if not on holiday.

Not sure about price Ally there is a mint UK turbo on Autotrader 41.5k on the clock for £2750. I think try around the £3k mark as yours is a good example with sensible mods and we know it hasn't been thrashed.
Try the usual places pistonheads, Snet, Autotrader for selling.
I know of someone looking to buy spending 2-3k (well his wife says the lower the better, I'm trying to convince him otherwise) so will let him know about yours.

Have you tried Alloy Mania/Motorsound at Battlefield, Alan can usually source most alloys.

The anti-corrosion warranty is only valid if you have had the body warranty checks done and they were about £150 a time. Think they have to be done every 2 years.
Look for the book to be stamped for this.

Funny used Halley for my Astra and they were shocking took my Subaru Sport there and they hadn't a clue. Where as Eaglesham have always been more than helpful and their parts department were spot on.
Everyone will have different opinion and experience though.

Is now on our list of dealer in True Grip.

Once the car is up and running I will be taking it slow and steady
Didn't think you new those words.

Good to hear the car will be back on the road, if your missing the banter you could always pop along to the Wheel meet on Sunday.
Just seen your name on the list.
Will see you there.

Just checking have a spare for a 97 STI but yours is different. Have you tried Scottish Subarus they carry quite a lot of used parts.
I got one from nengun auctions cheap think I was about £25 delivered, only thing was it took about 2 weeks.

Cheers for the offer Mark, Terzo Neil has come to the rescue. Want to get it sorted for Thursdays Run.

Not bad, was going to come over and talk to you and Lesley at the Wheel meet but never got a chance.
Ian Greive gave me the option of getting them replaced or removed, having it happen once I opted to get them removed, temp wise I was told it wouldn't make a massive difference to underbonnet temperatures so never wrapped the up-pipe. Might be worth it when going down the modding route but as my car is only PPP I didn't bother.
They did a geometry setup to check steering was alright. Wasn't until I took the car to Kenny Brown's in Hillington a while later that I found out I have a very slight curve in the rack (had to force the steering to make the turn), doesn't affect the car at all just has to be factored in when the setup is done.
