Sitting working my rear end off, wondering when I can next take a holiday and I had a thought ! Now this is very often a dangerous moment for me but hey ho I'll blurt it out and see what pelters I get for it !!?

I got for my Xmas a supercars calendar (don't laugh, from family member who knows I like my cars..very nice Lambo this month) and got me thinking. Has Scottish Scoobies ever put together a calendar and offered it for sale to the folks on here - aim of the profits obviously going to charity ?

It is just with the ever growing list of events coming up and the increasing number of folks with their fancy cameras just a thought about getting group pics of the cars at various events/meets and putting something like this together.

It is at this point I let myself down slightly and say it was just the thought from myself. With the recent arrival of my baby daughter, being completely snowed with work and soon to have the second hand op I couldn't manage the time to even dream of doing the finished article justice !! Just perhaps there is someone else who'd be interested and/or has good contacts for completing such a thing ??

If it is a rediculous idea go easy on me !! :wub:

I think its a good idea and ive heard that quite a few members on here are good photographers!!

Im sure we all know which car will be on the front cover eh Grant! lol :wub:

Great idea and a lot easier than it sounds. Just start a list, ask who wants to be in the Calendar then sort out the photoshoots, plenty budding David Bailey's around here who i'm sure would be more than willing to do their bit ! Guess the biggest problem would getting a designer and printer but I could easy help out in that department in some way if need be.

We (Aberdeen Scoobies) have done one for the past 2 years and have shifted over 200 copies between them raising almost 2K, that's just selling them up here, i'd imagine an SIDC one could shift some really good quantities.

I'd be happy to help out taking photos in the lothians and surrounding areas.

p.s. I also do graphic design. Designed the McRae gathering banner as an example. I could also get some prices together for printing.

I spoke to Phil about this idea briefly as I started up a wee side project called carclubcalendars.com as I have done the FTOOC one for 6 years now. My company are a magazine publishers but we also own a printing firm now so I did a deal with my boss and get good rates.

The calendars are proper wire-o bound ones and always go down well with the FTO OC guys (we send them as part of their membership fee - we print 2000 of them). Most have even said they would happily buy a calendar of this quality and we ended up printing more the last few years to sell (one for work and one for home lol!) FTO OC have a competition and the committee choose a selection of pics which then end up in the calendar, we also put a best of the rest on the back cover too :wub:

We print calendars for Wiseman's and Ethicon and the like.

I'd be happy to speak to anyone wanting to do this as we have some great photographers on the forum.

btw - we also did a calendar for Cancer Research which was some of the girlfriends on the guys in the club, posing with FTOs which was sold and indeed sold out! I said we should do a general one with some great showcars from some of our development companies like Norris Dev. and Graham Goode etc.

so the plan is... :wub:

Do we find 12 of the sexiest scoobies on here and get decent shots of them (making sure that all ages are covered)?

Do we pay for a company to design the calendar, or have it done to a very high standard for free?

Do we take orders/payments in advance then have a batch of calendars printed?

Do we just cover Scotland or make it nationwide? This could prove difficult unless there's photographers available wherever needed.

Any other ideas?

I think it might be an idea to have a poll of some sorts to see what cars are used. Like you say at least one of each shape should be included. I think it would be mad to pay somebody when we have such quality photographers on here. We should also stick to Scotland to keep it as easy as possible.

Did a calander before for a club, good idea to raise funds for charities and who doesnt want a scoob on the wall!

how about one of each special edition? series mcrae,catyluna, rb5 etc?

There's only 12 months in a year, it could go on forever. But we, as a club, need to decide on what should be featured on it. A poll seems like a good idea.

Members post shots of their cars, a poll is made from the shots, and the members (oops, my membership has lapsed) decide on the final 12.

edited to add, don't want to hi-jack this idea C_WRX, just knocking some ideas about :wub:
