scoobyiain Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 My workmate came to me saying his audi quattro was looking a bit old and tired and said he was thinking about getting a full re-spray. Leave it to me mate i said i will sort it out for you. I told him what i done part time and that i could restore it back to near new condition with a machine polisher. He was doubtfull so i said i would only do the bonnet and if he was not satisfied he could just get it resprayed. i have my work cut out here i think 50/50 shot Like new again Do you think he will come back to me and get the whole car done?
cupradave Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 [] what a difference, your mate will be gobsmacked fancy a trip to the Isle of Man to do my Scoob Iain?
frank c Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 I think he might be speechless Iain. Minted. You should have left one side of the car dirty and polished up the other.[] would have been a right laugh. []
Alan-G Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Yup. The 50/50 shot is astonishing. But those wheels [+o(] Being a Jeweller, people don't realise how scrathed their rings are until I polish them. Polishing a ring takes about 5 minutes. The key to the customer being visibly stunned when I give them their ring back like New is the fact that the scratch build up is sooo sloooow that they dont even notice it. Then they are amazed when it's like the day they bought it ! That Audi will be like new when finished Iain. How old is it ?
scoobyiain Posted May 2, 2007 Author Posted May 2, 2007 I was tempted, very tempted infact to just leave it 50/50 []
mazheriqbal_mohammed Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Flipping heck mate that is a complete world of difference, i am pretty gobsmacked just looking at it! [] I know who to call when i want some touching up done to my scooby!! In fact my other halves paint work on her Nissan Micra is looking a bit dull like, the audi, and i tried the Meguires treatment but never got anywhere near the results you have there. So was that all just from a mechanical polisher and some rubbing compound? Please do tell []
thewelsho Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Jeezo! Shoud have left it 50/50 then the imapce woudlhave been more apparent. Great job!
scoobyiain Posted May 2, 2007 Author Posted May 2, 2007 Thanx for comments everyone. he was more than pleased with the results and will be getting a full detail soon. I used menzerna intensive polish with a german applicator pad by hand then 2 coats of autoglm srp, sealed with megs#21 and nattys wax. Could have got better results with machine polisher but he was not paying me so just done everything with elbow grease.
euan_r Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 amazing results. u cant do anything with rust though can you? []
the blue dragon Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 NIice result mate [H] i get quite a few of these over the year, and get similair results. the customers are usually gobsmacked when they see what you can do!! keep up the good work [Y] all the best Iain
boris b Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Crivens Help Ma Boab....................That is braw mate.[H]
gus the bus Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 fack me what a transformation[] Iain you aint free next Monday to treat a classic Impreza are you?[] getting it back tomorrow night[]
monkip1 Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 You have done a top dog job there. The results look ashtonishing, i think the 50/50 impact factor would have been awsum. You could have left the other side waited till your mate seen the results, and charged him to do the other half [] Monki.
dougster Posted May 4, 2007 Posted May 4, 2007 Cheers Iain. Teflon for the underneath only. Let's OFF ROAD!! []
Bluebotle Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 Amazing results, looks like it's been painted hehe. I bet your arms are aching now aren't they!
Alan-G Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 Right or left arm ? Kidding only Iain Best left alone .. []
