Remap >> "POPPED" down to Andy Forrest's today

Was down at Dr. Forrest surgery today for my 3rd ( a final ? [:P]) remap ......

Roads were bone dry and the air temps were low with exceptionally quiet roads

The car has been transformed into something I am almost scared of now.....

Making 305 bhp & 300 ft. lbs torque and 1.0 bar boost @ 2800 revs ( 1.3 bar by 2950 revs).

I will do my usual Dastek Dyno benchmarking soon for curves comparisons with the previous remaps

Almost exactly the same power and torque than an STi8 with PPP but in a lighter car with

a 5 speed box. ( http://www.prodrive.com/up/03MY%20STi%20PPP.pdf)

I was worried about the turbo being laggy before I got my remap but the fact it that it's more torquey

off boost than with the TD04 fully compensates. The VF35 is on full boost before 3000rpm and on song only 500 rpm later than the TD04.

Where the TD04 went to sleep the VF35 kicks off. At 4000 revs it surges right up to the limiter. 3rd gear is pure shax ...

And then the party piece. Andy enabled the disabled the fuel cut overrun ( or whatever it was called) in the Ecutek software

to let me see ( or should I say hear !) what it was like. Farkin' hall.............sounds just like anti-lag when you lift off ( with a hot exhaust). We were teetering like a couple of schoolboys after a quick sprint and the inevitable pop-bang routine. We are not just talking about the odd random pop - these are full on, guaranteed, on demand and numerous. Sadly I opted to have it disabled as the novelty would have worn off and it was just a bit too frequent. Ecutek really should have the functionality switchable via the aircon button or something. Then their license sales would go nuts

So all in all, the car is running sweet and I am well chuffed. Canny wait to see how she performs at the Ring.

A HUGE thanks go to Andy and Wuz for their combined wizardry ........[Y][<:o)]

Engine Mods for info :-

IHI VF35 turbo  ( ported to deter boost creep [8-|])

Walbro fuel pump 255

TSL WRC Sportscat

Decatted up-pipe

Straight through 2.5" pipework

ScoobySport BB

K&N Panel filter

Samco intercoolerhoses

Recirc DV

Nailing it outta the Forth Road bridge toll was a otal gas [:o]

Thanks to all you lot too for generally being a bad influence. Thanks to you jokers I have gone from  215 to 230 to 250 to 305 bhp.

glad you got it sorted cal, 305 BHP with 300 torque isna to be snuffed at [H][H], im getting seriously hacked off watching all your cars getting sorted while nothing happens with mine [:P]

Nice one El Shandero, glad to hear you opted to pop in the VF35.  Looks like the Jones will be aiming to keep up with you[:P]

Did you fit the injectors?

Looking forward to seeing the black beast - are you down this weekend?

I know what you mean with the pops and bangs, it would be great if they could fit it to a switch,im going back up to get Andy to dissable it as the wife wont go near the car with all that noise,[:P]

If I had thought about it I should have gone for :-

fast map

fast map + over-run popping

instead of :-

0.5 bar economy map

fast map

Nae sure if that is "do-able" though from an Ecutek perspective. I think it's either on or off. Andy might drop in an fill us in. I would love that funtcion on demand though

But having the economy map is a bonus. Man it was hard work not been able to stretch the cars legs. I stayed off boost from the minute the turbo was fitted until the session with Andy. Sheer self discipline ........

Nice results there, when you going to put in on the 1/4 mile?

I have been debating this as my existing time  ( in the SIDC thread) is chronic and hails from when I had 250 bhp [:$]

As gay as it sounds I dont like the abuse that Q'miling gives the car. You car is pretty cold and then you subject it to

a full launch. I'm @ 62k miles now and my clutch and gear box are running perfectly. I can't help feeling they might

go pear shaped on the strip..................but never say never, I reckon I could get a pretty decent time now [<:P)]

Yeah............mine is still original. Gearbox and clutch are exceptionally sweetly but that's becuase I am ( probably unecessarily) paranoid about them going pop so tend to look after them...

Dont get me wrong..........you cannot beat the adrenaline rush of dragging but the subsequent guilt was too much to bear !
