st3ph3n Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 Possibly different price for the different cars. Classic and new age.
scoobymark Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 I think hypertec will fit it for free if you buy it from them. that is correct, hypertech will fit for free if you buy from them so well worth checking out there price, even if slightly more expensive at least it will be fitted hassle free!
thewelsho Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 Sorry to be an ignoramous, but what is involved with the ALK? Does it make that much of a difference? I already have the alignment done after getting Teins and droplinks fitted, so if i fit the ALK bits, does this mean the alignment needs redone? Cheers!
GaryD Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 Yeah you will need your alignment redone if you fit a ALK
thewelsho Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 Yeah you will need your alignment redone if you fit a ALKOh well, I guess that adds to the cost then.
cusco kid Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 hi m8 the anti lift kit gives 0.5 degrees more caster stops lift and cancells out the dreaded understeer, by increasing the caster, your car will not suffer from camber changes in road surface(pulling to left) the steering becomes more positive, feels lighter. to answer the Q about anti lift kit there are many types of this kit classic is the cheepest ,newage is dearer. when modifying a subaru you should always start at the rear first .the rear dictates how the car will handle by altering roll centre and stiffness ratio also alloy d/links allow the arbs to transmit the torsion into the suspension your car will drive flatter through bends giving you a better feel when pushing it on a bit regards geo

Yes you will Jon but obviously you are paying too much for alignment[]
thewelsho Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 Geo: Cheers mate, that's quite an explanation! Do you supply and fit the goods and do the geometry as well? Peter: I got the geometry done at Hypertech when I got my Teins fitted, so I can't mind much it cost, probably not that much.
st3ph3n Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 It's only about £40-50 John. Duncan does the Whiteline ALK too, might even still have the free fitting offer on. I'm still thinking about that and the ARBs as the FINAL FINAL FINAL stage of my project. Oh except three other things which have been hinted at on a couple of occasions. One of which is wheels which would mean breaking the bank as replicas are not for me. The other two of which will maybe see the light of day at some point []

One of which is wheels which would mean breaking the bank as replicas are not for me. The other two of which will maybe see the light of day at some point [] Just called Hypertech and booked in for Monday for ALK and braided hoses. I figured that I'd uprate the pads and disks when the old ones are shot, no point in spending money on replacing stuff that still has life in it. Wouldn't mind a set of proper wheels myself to be honest as I'm not mad-keen on the replicas that I got. I mean, they are ok and they look much better than the standard wheels, but still... Likewise, have a list of stuff that I want to do as well, but I'm moving hoose in a few weeks to a double mortgage, so other stuff will have to wait. Just do a bit at a time. Duncan was telling me that the ALK is one of the better mods that can be done for the car, so I'm looking forward to testing it out at the next KH track day. Totally hooked on that now!
st3ph3n Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 Good man. Let me know what you think as I could be tempted to book for the ALK too. Got some overtime this weekend so might need to use up some of the profits.
Nelsdir Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 Got the front and rear alloy d/links, rear ARB and ALK fitted by Duncan (free) a few weeks ago. Can't comment on which bits made the difference but when discussing with Dunc he said that the ALK is a must and will give a huge benefit. All I can say is that the car is transformed - turn-in is crisp, zero body roll and when planting it out of the corner it just grips and goes. The confidence it gives lets me enjoy the car a lot more. I've got the Prodrive spings as well which will help a bit but can't fault the Whiteline stuff or Dunc for the service. Neil
oobster Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 Neil - how much did that lot set you back if you don't mind me asking?
