scotsman Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Well, the time has eventually come round and I'm spending the morning with Andy F tomorrow to get my MY01 wagon remapped. Going for a duel-map set-up so I can have better economy on my business/work trips and a performance map for fun times Really looking forward to it as the bugeye has never felt anywhere near as rapid as my old classic (though that did have a John Banks Tek2.5 remap). Richard.
scoobaroo Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Bet you come back with a big grin [] Marty.
G.Mac Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 even on the full boost map you will get better fuel economy than standard, i did!, enjoy Graeme
scotsman Posted December 28, 2006 Author Posted December 28, 2006 Just back home and what a difference Sitting on the motorway in 5th and previously when I put my foot down it did nothing but now it just keeps pulling - so much better to drive and the power delivery is silky smooth through the gears. Very sweet. Richard.
gus the bus Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Nice one Richard[Y] I can see yer grin from here[] Gus[]
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 All Hail Doctor Drew ! Glad you are happy with the new mapping [H] [ap] He knowns his stuff like [8-|]
sheep Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Sounds like we have similar cars with similar set ups, the best thing i ever did was get andy to map my car and although it has the swithable map i have only used it to show my brother what it does.

Yes, I must admit that I had it on the performance map on the way home just to enjoy the car though I can see myself using the economy/reduced boost map a lot as I do around 25k miles a year work related. The 'only' thing I've now got left to change on the car is getting the pads replaced, along with a new set of rubber all round. Hopefully then the expense might stop for a few months! Richard.
sheep Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 If you hope the expense will stop, you better stop coming on here and you better chop up your credit card as well.[] Hope you enjoy your newly transformed car[Y].
scotsman Posted December 30, 2006 Author Posted December 30, 2006 Just been out for a blast round the back roads and I know I'm sounding like a stuck record but I can't believe the difference in my car - it's not only the huge amount of additional and effortless power but it's how smooth the car now is - makes me feel like I was driving a bag of nails before! Even my wife took it out today and commented on how much smoother and tuned it now feels. Richard.
RA Dunk Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 going to be seeing him myself again in the near future []
david_taylor Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 Glad you are pleased. Thought about it myself about 5 months ago, but with my milage being over 90k, to paranoid it will blow up! Andy F assured me it would be ok, but still paranoid! Could not afford a new engine! Still think about it regularly though![H]
gogsie Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 The Andy F treatment still makes me smile everytime I put the foot down although I'm trying to resist the temptation but sticking the foot down when in 5th is magic []
