I don't disagree with your sentiments Craig. For the large part the events section IS very well used and long may it continue, as is the for sale section, and the new off topic section is also helping to keep everything much more tidy.

Santa cruise actually has its own forum, so really discussions about it should probably take place in there if we're being particularly pedantic about things.

Santa Cruise is obviously very important for the club and it's not just as simple as a normal event due to all the other organisation with regards to the fund raising etc. We have a lot of lurkers and irregular visitors who only check our main SS section and it's important that the Santa Cruise stuff is visible to them as they include details about hats, stickers etc. etc. as well as the event itself

So I'm saying that yes events have and will continue to be confined to the events section unless the moderation team feels the need for them to be in the general section.

Looking back to earlier in the year the Crail ultimate car club was left in general as it was important for the club to have a good presence at this.

Once said event has passed the thread will be unstickied and moved to the events section and confined to the great history of the club.

WHY is anyone moaning that the Santa Cruise stuff is in the normal section and not the Events?

Is this really worth the grief that it has caused. Plus this North/South divide is rubbish. Just people getting paranoid in my opinion!!

Its for Charity and Christmas. DROP IT!!!

Ally brought Santa Cruise in to this simple question post

No one else did and the sooner people realise that the better[|-)]

if you were not referring to the Santa Cruise stickies Craig, what posts were you referring to?

"Ally brought Santa Cruise in to this simple question post

Only because that is the subject of the posts you are referring to , and the reason why they are not in the usual 'events' section .

I use the events section on a monthly basis to intimate Glasgow meets as do all the ROs .I fully understand how to use different sections of the forum.

Some events though are annual charity events and as such deserve a 'sticky' to ensure maximum publicity and thus full support of the club.

I hope that explains it clearly enough .

Merry Christmas.

It just so happened to be at the top Ally as it was a new post [:D] i never once mentioned it as the subject

Simple question and even typed slowly some people still dont understand and took it the wrong way

"Some events though are annual charity events and as such deserve a 'sticky' to ensure maximum publicity and thus full support of the club."

Agree one hundred percent, and i am i like to think a fairly active member in those areas too. In the form of donations to prize draws, gifts of golf vouchers, all be it that one fell through, sweep stakes, etc etc. offers to assist and be a santa too.

The original post was why so many events sticky in the general forum? When we have our own events section to place them, also known as correct placing of threads

We up north are doing a wee charity day a week on Sunday, All be it on a far smaller scale, has it been recognised? Its in the events and has it been stickied to atract more attention? Eh no.

How many times, There was no ref to Santa cruise until others dragged it in.

Nuff said on the matter and let it fade away in to the bowels of the past like so many other posts made innocently questioning certain things on this forum, Rest assured if it had come from certain other am 100% sure in myself it would have been handled in a totally diff manner

No i dont agree

Its all to easy to do that and it happens all too often on here

It has been taken out of context and it has grown arms and legs for no valid reason

Let it fade away as requested

In support of Ally and the other central members, I had a post in the general section about a possible Highland Santa Cruise.  The amount of support we were offered from "down south" was fantastic. So I have to say that I disagree with your suggestion that the members North of Perth are discriminated against.

"We up north are doing a wee charity day a week on Sunday, All be it on a far smaller scale, has it been recognised?"

If you want it recognised, MAKE it recognised mate.  Did you ask for it to be made sticky?  Were any of the moderators even aware of the post?

IMHO, us northerners are treated as well as we would expect to be treated and are made more than welcome.  Now, time for me to [:#]

Santa Cruise was never intended to be taken in to the debate

Agreed and i was asked at Alford this year to look in to doing a santa cruise in Aberdeen, I was asked by 2 of the most prolific workers in aid of this fantastic charity event people i class as friends, And i have offered my services to help where i can.

It is unfortunate that Aberdeen Bikers already do a massive think in aid of this and we had to decline

I was made up when asked and i would have been prouder than proud to have done this.

I say again it was an innocent post questionong the amount of events stickied IMHO the wrong area, that was it.

The north/south divide does not exsist, I for one regularly text, pm and chat with central folks i class as friends, i class them all as friends and have helped and had many offers of help from all corners Again this is a  topic that is always taken in the wrong context and always blow up by certain people, its all in jest, just some take it to heart

Yes i posted the topic re our we get together a week on Sunday and a wee special gift all be it for one handicap lad, it has had little impact.

It will be the same old faces that will be there, the same team that pushed and pushed for the attention and support for the crail club challange, which got little to no support, and it was not until Dundee's RO JC got involved it started to gather a wee bit of interest from others. And if it were not for Jon it would have been 10 plus cars from Aberdeenshire.

The same team that meet up on a regular almost weekly basis.

Craig good point well put [y][:D]

Lets all have a big kiss and a cudle, and look forward to Xmas.

Maybe next year Dundee will do it own thing for santa cruise and the children of ninewells. [:D]

Now i hope that next year there will be full suport from the whole board for the club challange because there is some deffending to be done, as we might have ruffeld a few feathers at the last one with the SIDC clean up [:(] the rest of the clubs will come out fighting and yes we will deffend the best car club in the ****ry. [:D]

Peace out ya homos !!!

Craig, I never noticed your thread with regards to the surprise for the wee lad, hence why I never asked about stickying it. The events section requires next to no moderation, so unless an event appeals to me then I don't generally read it. As much as I think an evening in the pub with the Aberdeen boys would be a great laugh it is unfortunately a bloody good distance away so I never peeked in the thread to see what it was about.

So if ANYONE thinks something is deserving of a bit more publicity then you or anyone at all please let me or Brian know and we'll do what we do.

Right here is another plan

We meet at Perth, sling a massive rope round Glenshee and tie the other end to our collective Scoobs and drag Abersneckie a bit closer to the central belt.

I am the same as St3ph3n regarding an Aberdeen meet, love to go but just to god damn far. Leaving after work reckon i would arrive for the majority leaving and those left would be too schloshed to know who i am.  Then return home at approx 1am for a half six rise to do another 300 miles round Dumfries.
