STi_Bandit Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 been there, they are quick little cars, till you drive them in the wet [] Bandit
scoobyfuzzy Posted November 6, 2006 Author Posted November 6, 2006 yeah, saying that, he backed off when we hit some corners, then it was me pissing all over him, but on a straight line, he had me... fuzzy
st3ph3n Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 I've had a shot against a standard one when mine was standard and it was dry and it was reasonably close. At super motorway speeds the 4wd losses were constricting me, but out the bends I was ahead.
scoobyiain Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 They are around 197bhp as standard. A mate of mine has fiddled about with his and now has 265
RA Dunk Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 hello stranger, where have you been hiding then? []
uRaBu5 Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 Paul at Dastek has one they have majorly played with. Supercharged with lots of other handling goodies. They say it surprises a lot of supposedly far superior cars! Looks very different due to the reflective, shiny PINK film they added to be noticed. Even his good lady wont get in it now!!
sheep Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 Dunc from hypertech also has a supercharged one that would show a clean set of heels to a lot of cars.
Andy UK300 Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 never raced a civic type R, raced an s2000, was all over me like a cheap suit, but no way could have passed me
scoobyiain Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 Had a go in an s2000 last night. My mate works for honda so brings home all the new cars. Thought it was quick after 5-6k when the v-tec kicks in. He is taking it to the next crail to race my sti should be interesting.
dougster Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 Look out for Scott Whitelaw's CTR. It's a record..............[]
philip_wilson Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 Standard ctr's are pants Supercharged ctr's are fun but still pants Supercharged ctr's running nos well that’s a different story []
philip_wilson Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 Look out for Scott Whitelaw's CTR. It's a record..............[] Aye thats one fast CTR
fai17 Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 Dunc from hypertech also has a supercharged one that would show a clean set of heels to a lot of cars. It's now getting turbo charged[]

fai17 Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 Nobody wants to race me anymore[:'(] I fancy racing a type R..

duncan_stephen Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 The R's are not to be underestimated. I had an Accord Type R for 18 months and it kept up with many a scoob. [] The Civic is on an equal par with the accord, even with its 2.0ivtec as opposed to the accord 2.2vtec. That engine works so well for being N/A. A CTR will keep up with a std UK scoob even round the twisties with the addition of one little mod. An lsd. The CTR responds very well to breathing mods. A full eggsauce, CAI, and a unichip is a cheap upgrade to make one quick rice rocket, believe me. It has been tried and tested many times by Dastek. Scott's CTR is one quick whip. Slicks, supercharger and Nos has now given him an 11 sec pass. From a FWD!!!!!!!!!!
cullenmin Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 A few of my mates have CTR's and I must say, they are quick. When I had my de-cat downpipe I raced one of them and he couldnt catch me nor could I get too far away. Then I got it fully de-catted and I was pushing my other mates type R down a straight road. I reckon a standard UK turbo would be the same speed...in a straight piece of road but give it corners and the scoob wins every time. Rich
duncan_stephen Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 but give it corners and the scoob wins every time. Give the CTR an LSD and it will be right there with you. []
STi_Bandit Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 Ive driven both the accord type r and civic and if i didnt have the scoobie id would be having the new type r thats coming out they really are amzing fun to drive. Bandit
dougster Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 What about an ITR (DC5) with LSD then!! Chuck Rusty has one with silly mods and running about 320+ bhp!!
david_taylor Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 My mate has a 05 Plate with full decat and to be honest I can not pull away at all. In fact at high speed on the motorway, he has the edge. They are only just over 1.1tonne, so the power to weight ratio makes a big difference against the scoob. Saying that, he wont even entertain a wee race in the wet. He wants to supercharge it now. Dont see the point in all that power in a FWD in this country, I had a 215bhp RS Turbo and I was always terrified in the wet! lol
Guest Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 in my opinion they are overrated anything with a bit of torque will kill them as they have now power till 6k revs and above raced a few in my VR6 golf and nowt in it with a standard one. but of course if u add a supercharger and NOS it will make a difference but then your comparing a highly modded car to a standard car ie a uk turbo. with any car if u spend enough money it will be fast but at the end of the day what would u rather have a type-r or an impreza??
