They just don't understand...

So I'm in my local on Monday night (RIP Matt [;)]) and the conversation with my mate goes...

"So when you replacing the Scooby?"

"Probably next summer. I'll have had it three years then"

"What you going to get?"

"Well I didn't like the '06 model when it first came out, but it's grown on me. Saw a nice black one in Grieves when the car was in for a service. Might go for an '06, but it would have to be in black and possibly an STi depending on finances"

"Another Scooby? I thought you'd have got that out of your system"

They really just don't understand...

In the beginning Imy did not understand as she pootled about in her wee Red Micra

Then she listened to the ramblings of a madman, met some other like minded sick people

Now she pootles about in a 96 STI RA V Limited and asks when is the next rally

Ha yeah. Friend of mine, not in to cars at all, was giving me stick for buying the Scoob. Said, "if its your thing, then fine". Few months later, I let him get behind the wheel and he give it some stick. He was shocked at the acceleration and handling. He was soon asking for pics to show people! Ha!

Can't see myself leaving the brand for a while yet either. Take him out in the car Andy, or bring him up to Knockhill on the trackday and we'll soon convert him.

This is my first one, I thought i had owned some fast cars until I got my Subaru.  Not sure I would buy anything else although my bank manager might have different ideas. lol

I had a Volvo S40 T4 before and when I told my Dad I had got a Subaru he nearly had a heart attack.  Loving every minute of it.

I have always had run of the mill family saloons and thought at 28 it was about time I got myself something with a bit of punch and get the boy racer/hot hatch thing out my system. If I left it any later and done it at 30 I would have been accused of a mid life crises.

Mate also the same boat, he ended up with a 206 GTI (nuf said ;o) ) and I went for the Impreza after being in a mates Newage going to Wales.

Plan is to drive the scooby for 6mths to a year and then get a diesel of some description...

Erm, never really thought it through - no way can I imagine going back to a Mondeo now. It has only been 5 months or so but I have pretty much decided to keep the classic for as long as is practical and then get an STI (if I still have any money at that point and have not signed over my house to Shell)

Edit - Same thing with my dad! I have always been after getting his cars of him but just for a laugh I wouln't let him have a shot of mine until he had asked at least 6 times - shouldn't have bothered - he is too scared to press the Loud pedal properly - Wimp! (he used to drive for the, actually forget that, he just used to drive very fast in his day)
