Im sure under Scottish Law they are supposed to ask you if you understand the caution, if not i dont think you were cautioned

Yeah, they did ask if I understood. So cautioned I was!

You don't get any paper work handed to you, only time you get paperwork is if you were being given a fixed penalty ticket, otherwise it's a straight report to the PF, and the PF then decides what to do after that mate.

Just received a letter from the PF re alleged offence as per post. On this occasion .... case dropped. HEAVY, HEAVY sigh of relief. Lesson learned!

Over and out!

Fantastic mate. Either the Cops reccomended a warning letter be issued, or there was not enough of a case to answer. Either way, good bit of news bud

this must be a furst the police not pursuing an easy target. but good news your not getting done

Very common actually, careless driving is not an offence the PF will pursue unless the circumstances are horrendous, or you have ignored previous warnings.

And it wasn't the Police that didn't pursue it, it was the PF

good news m8, i was a bit nervy waiting for my last one to come in and nothing came of it either, are they perhaps being more sensible nowadays?? naa i doubt it we were both lucky i would say [:D]

Good news mate.

ALWAYS be polite to the cops if you are pulled over. It goes a long way when they write their report. [:D]

They have to describe road condition, weather, your driving, attitude. All sorts. Can make a huge difference. [:P]

Another reason it will not go to court is that they are struggling wit the volume at the moment, have been for years actually. This is why it is almost always worth the "not guilty" plea. You will have pleanty oppertunity to change your ple at a later date if its looking bad.

There are however many changes taking place in the near future. Some very big ones too. They are planning to have a system set up where there is a seperate court, dealing only wit hmotoring offences. They are also looking to close up some of the loopholes that have been working for years. They recon that the lost revenue will pay for the changes and courts in 6 years. [;)] Then its all proffit.
