STi_Bandit Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 Imy, the hotel i can see from my work's window i would say a 30sec walk :-), Can get you a wee map its not hard to find, however parking could be a nightmare round this area. Bandit
micra_wrc Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 .... however parking could be a nightmare round this area. Bandit Martin, thats what I was thinking [] Are there any Brewers Fayre type places on the outskirts of that area? Prefer to find somewhere that is easy for me to get to and park. I got an email from Jacob with his mobile number. Will try and get in touch with him to see if we can meet up on Thursday evening
STi_Bandit Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 Theres fountain park, or i think thats the name of it, has a largeee underground style multi storey, mmmm subarus multi storey, that or the other end of princess st is the omnie centre again with multi storey car parking, certainly the omni centre has more eating facailities. Yes i know i want to blip the throttle in the multi storey :-) Other wise yes we would have to come out of edinburgh city centre to a place that could accomodate us. Out of intrest how many people are actully coming along to get an idea of numbers to cater for. Bandit
micra_wrc Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 me [] and probably the Squirrel. thing is, not sure whether Thursday night suits Jacob - i've left a voicemail on the mobile number that he emailed me. assuming that he is, it might be good if we can arrange time and location. how far from the M8 is his hotel? Thinking about whether we can fit a wee run into this too... yes, I like challenges lol
STi_Bandit Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 your probally talking from hermistion gate 30mins depending on what time in the evening your coming through, least most of the traffic will be coming out of edinburgh rather than going into. Bandit
micra_wrc Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 Martin are you coming to this? makes a change that you know where you are going and I dont LoL
STi_Bandit Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 Depends if i head in the right direction :-) Yeah ill come along, always an excuse to fire up the boxer engine. Thurs eve is cool for me any idea what sort of time as i could maybe meet you at hermistion gate Bandit
micra_wrc Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 hermiston gate is cool for me. time.......... i guess it wil be around 1900 by the time I go home, pick up my scooby and drive down the M8. will speak to Squirrel check if that time suits him and mibbe see if he is aware of any nice roads near there where we can have a wee hurl in and park up for photo shoot.
ally-b Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 I should be free on Thursday evening . Let me know what you are doing and I'll head through with you - Squirrel has my number . Al
dave_morgan Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 your probally talking from hermistion gate 30mins depending on what time in the evening your coming through, least most of the traffic will be coming out of edinburgh rather than going into. Bandit 30 mins !?! Are you walking it Martin !?! [] It's only about 5 miles from Hermiston Gate, and I'd have thought 15mins would cover it, tops (as long as it's not 9 in the morning of course!). Thursday night should work well for me, but I don't know 'in town' venues well enough to suggest anything suitable. My suggestions would be Stables, Fairmile Inn and Steading, but probably not the best to get to from Haymarket!
micra_wrc Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 dave, do you know of any nice roads around there where we can go for a run and show Jacob how the scottish scoobies rumble?
STi_Bandit Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 Only road i can think of is the road out to temple, which is a good jaunt :-), hey who wants to look at the two wr1's at nobles, as a wee teeser also. would be shut in the evening but you could still look at all the machines on the forecourt
micra_wrc Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 or........ we can try and work in somewhere to stop for food []
STi_Bandit Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 As dave says, i think its the faiemile inn just beside hillend ski slope does nice food and has a reasonabliy sized park, or maybe flouterstone inn, will look tonight imy, can discuss on messenger if your on :-)
micra_wrc Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 cool, will get u on MSN tonight Martin a wee list of folk so far.... Thurs 28 Sept - 1900 1 - imy 2 - squirrel 3 - sti bandit 4 - ally-b 5 - kart-man
Dougie C Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 Martin, what about the road from Penicuik to Gorebridge then turn right on the A7 and head up the Moorfoot Hills you get a lovely view of Fife? Dougie

Dougie C Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 Only road i can think of is the road out to temple, which is a good jaunt :-), hey who wants to look at the two wr1's at nobles, as a wee teeser also. would be shut in the evening but you could still look at all the machines on the forecourt Martin I couldn't see the WR1 that usually is on the forecourt mate when I passed to go to Tesco's today! Dougie
st3ph3n Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 Might make it through. Can't usually get a parking place at work on a Thursday though. I will have a think.
micra_wrc Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 yeah, you take your time and think about it stephen......... at the moment we have 3 classics and 3 newages for the photoshoot (if we manage to get one done). Thats assuming Jimser comes along and I'm not sure what Kart-man will be driving [] wonder if more classics than newages will turn up lol
irish al Posted September 26, 2006 Posted September 26, 2006 We would of come along to this but we have to go a wee run to perth on thursday night. Al
JMelt4 Posted September 26, 2006 Author Posted September 26, 2006 Hi everyone, First off, I got your message Imy....I'll be able to call tomorrow morning.... But as is, Thursday sounds great. I would love to meet up before the sun goes down to get some nice pictures of your cars. Do you guys say GC8, GD8, etc. to talk about the old school impreza, bug eye, etc.? And my girlfriend Molly and I would love to get dinner, have a few pints, go for a ride or two Maybe pints AFTER rides? Also, what is the best scottish beer? I have been really digging all the local ales around England... Also, does anyone actually have a WR1? That would be unbelievably cool to see. We don't get fancy STi's like that in the states, infact, we're quite lucky to get anything at all. I will regale you all with tales of the SHIT cars we get and so forth....you all might not know how lucky you are! Our imprezas weren't offered with turbos until 2002! Alright, I'll be in touch with Imy and ready for action on Thursday.....thanks for the awesome hospitality and be prepared for an American accent! -Jacob
thefastone Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 If your looking to see a WR1 theres one in Inverness... thats if we can get him out that is... And on the Ale side if things, If its ale your looking at there is a great selection of scottish ones mate, Any of the Isle of Skye ales, or, the Champion Beer of the UK last year I think Was Deuchars IPA, I'm a big fan, and its pretty easy to get a hold of..... but there is LOADs to choose from... []
Gee Wr1 Posted September 27, 2006 Posted September 27, 2006 If you want to see a WR1 in the flesh & on the go ( not on a forcourt) you'll need to come up North to Inverness & i'll take mine out for you to see & have a run in over the best twistys in Scotland [] There was pics up on NASIOC of mine a while back [] Dale i'll have more time for meets, runs etc very shortly as nearly finished renovating my old house for sale, thats whats keeping me busy at the mo [] Gee
