JMelt4
Hi everyone, my name is Jacob and I will be on holiday in Scotland (specifically Edinburgh and the highlands) from September 27th til October 1st. Being a massive Subaru enthusiast back home in the states, and missing the feeling of a good drive through some twisty roads, I am writing to see if anyone in the Scotland area would be up for meeting up, talking Subarus, and checking out your WRX, STi or what have you! I am an active member of the North American Subaru Impreza Owner's Club (NASIOC.com) and i-Club.com when I'm back home in San Francisco. Also, I'd be glad to return the favor if anyone ever comes on holiday to San Francisco. Cheers! Link to comment

micra_wrc
Hi Jacob, not sure what your itenary is or where you are planning to go but one of the regulars here (Peter aka fai 17) owns a restaurant in Paisley, near Glasgow Airport and a few of the boys come for a meal every saturday night. if you let us know where you will be on what nights, am sure some of the guys here would meet you up/take you for a drive through our twisties [] if you give us enough notice I think it should be easy to meet up some of the guys - Scottish Scoobies covers pretty much every region in Scotland Link to comment

Not home until the 12th so unfortunatley will miss your trip. Enjoy and make sure to partake in some of the best Scottish life enducing, chest hair boosting 12 year old drams and a bit of highland flinging. It's a braw licht moonlicht nicht the nicht! And If I'm ever in San Francisco I will be sure to look you up for a bit of "The Chase" like escapades around SF. Enjoy PS And a bit of flower wearing in the hair. Link to comment

st3ph3n
I'm sure a run or wee get together could be organised. The scottish scoobies are never backward in coming forward to show off the fine cars we're running. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bF-d9qYafus - we also have these roads. They're even better than they look. Link to comment
JMelt4
Wow, thanks for the huge response guys! I can see that the scoobie community here is just as strong as the one back in the states. I will update this thread as I get more information about where we will be staying, etc. Actually, if anybody here knows a place where my girlfriend and I can crash for a few nights while in Edinburgh, that would be awesome. My email is jmeltzer4@gmail.com if anyone has any info. Here's a look at my sadly deceased WRX.....one powerslide too many took her life.... http://myspace-172.vo.llnwd.net/01198/27/15/1198235172_l.jpg Also, I have my photography equipment with me and would love to shoot some Scottish subarus! Here is a portfolio of some of my work: http://flickr.com/photos/jayemphoto/sets/72157594249724896/ Alright, I'll be in touch as we move up the island. The only WRX I've seen in Cambridge had an exhaust that sounded like a dying dog and a wing that would put an Airbus to shame! Link to comment

JMelt4
Hey everyone, here is where I will be staying on the 27th and 28th......is it near any good pubs and/or those famous Scottish B-roads? Also, if you like the photos I linked to above, and want some of your car, I'd be more than happy to take them and provide you with some nice jpegs once I get back to the states. 25 Palmerston Place EH12 5AP Edinburgh Cool, just let me know. Looking forward to visiting Scotland for the first time! Link to comment
dave_morgan
Some nice shots you got there Jacob. I've got some very similar ones at the corkscrew from a few years ago - Lucky to have such an amazing track so close to where you live! Palmerston Place is very central, so loads of good pubs around. Hard to recommend anything specific without knowing what you're looking for, but the Haymarket bar caters pretty well for any taste. It's on the corner of Shandwick Place and Morrison Street. Can anyone think of a pub near town (or easy to get to for Jacob) that has reasonable parking facilites? Dave Link to comment
thefastone
Hey jacob, I see there has been a big response from the central lot, but nothing much from the rest of us further north... as Craig said You are welcome to meet us in Aberdeen, or failing that I'm sure that We could cobble together a Highland meet, assuning that your going to tbe somewhere near Inverness, thats where we normally meet, although the highland division, we are from all about here, as far east as elgin and further north than Inverness, Although I'm not sure where.... So yeah Make sure you say when your heading north, And I'm sure that we could provide you with routes further north from Edinburgh on some interesting roads... [y][] it can be VERY picturesqe the further north you go.... Link to comment
micra_wrc
do any of the folk in the east know where this hotel is and whether there is anywhere nearby and easy to get to that we can meet? i dont fancy driving into the capital - i always seem to get lost [*-)] Link to comment
