wedmonds1 Posted September 13, 2006 Author Posted September 13, 2006 Right.....After i have just picked myself of the floor.... 30,000 service £496.09 Service £263.41 Rear Brake Pads, labour, part etc Mentioned the 10% off and they are going to ammend it accordingly... Whats your thoughts people? Over the top or right?
granby Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 Xtreme charge £393 for the 30,000 service so that actually doesn't seem too bad if the £496.09 includes the brake pads
wedmonds1 Posted September 13, 2006 Author Posted September 13, 2006 Nope... break pads are the extra 200+
granby Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 Doesn't seem so good then [] £263 for brake pads WTF
markie Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 Foookin hell [] good job your rich[] are they ceramic pads??
phil Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 Standard OEM Brembo rears are expensive as I was quite shocked when Xtreme fitted mine IMHO for a dealer thats not that bad !!
mick_weatherill Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 So its Xtremes for you next time then!! Not only are Xtremes cheaper and in my view better . You can see what they are doing to your car !! i.e they dont take it round the back then bring it back later with a bill for work they may or may not of done . As i say with xtremes you see and get what you pay for .[Y]
yogibear Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 Sorry to hear about your serious open wallet surgery. What are the visiting hours m8. I feel your pain though
granby Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 Wayne you better put up for sale them wheels & tyres instead of them gathering dust in your garage (would pay for the brake pads at least [] )
tony_cousins Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 Thats damm expensive, you could have bought them and i would have fitted them for the price of a cuppa []
eurosti Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 With prices like that im glad i do all my own work where possible.
mark_sheepwash Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 Man alive I paid £420 at barrats for 50,000 that included cambelt
wedmonds1 Posted September 14, 2006 Author Posted September 14, 2006 Sounds good .... i will bare that in mind for future Do you have the Subaru Stamp for me log book also?
darryl_martin Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 I had my front discs done up there under warranty, then got the you'll need pads to go with them but you'll have to pay for them....etc. Was expecting that tbh but was hoping I might get away with it. Anyway, turned up to pick up car and was faced with a bill for the whole lot, until I pointed out the warranty bit and then got my discount[Y]. Iirc the total bill would have been about £325 for front discs and pads fitted on a 53 plate wrx, so yep you're rear pads sound a tad expensive!!!!!!!!! Are you happy with the work anyway?
wedmonds1 Posted September 15, 2006 Author Posted September 15, 2006 Well all apears fine but i would like to know if the price was over the top.... (taking into consideration they are subaru dealer)
tony_cousins Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 You have my number for next time Wayne []
HOL Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 You do have to remember that you will be getting a dealer stamp in your book for a dealer service. It should not really make a difference to the parts used or the ability of the fitter concerned, but if you have a UK warrantied car, that is a consideration for the warranty when selling the car to someone else. I personally am not woried as I have always had JDM cars and am happy to reap the lower labour costs of a specialist like Extreme and not worry about keeping the 'book' straight.
mick_weatherill Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 My car is a U.K warrantied car and i get it serviced at xtremes . And get my book stamped by them .I have been told that it dont affect my warranty at all .
HairyDJ Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 Quote Right.....After i have just picked myself of the floor.... 30,000 service £496.09 Service £263.41 Rear Brake Pads, labour, part etc Mentioned the 10% off and they are going to ammend it accordingly... Whats your thoughts people? Over the top or right? Barretts at Canterbury did my 30k recently 203 labour plus 224 parts = 427, so a bit better. Just looked at mine in detail and see the service charged me 42.75 for oil, plus 9.50 for another litre "top-up" - suspect that should have been an overpriced wee bottle that they forgot to leave in my car when I collected it!! Other big parts costs were castrol syntrax at 30, plugs at 38, 4 units of coolant at 22 quid and a fuel filter for 21. Just had Cotswold do me 2 new front disks and pads all round for 404 after sidc discount (thanks Drew!). looks like the labour for the rears was 65, plus parts 39 so i really would take a close look at the lines that make up your bill in case there is a typo or an unexpected extra in there.
