STi_Bandit Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 As of 10am - 5pm today i have washed, Clay bar, polished and waxed the car, also not including cleaning the interior and putting interior trim detailer on that too. I would 100% anyone who has never used a clay bar like me to try it the amount of junk it picked of the paint was unbeilevable and funny made polishing the car eaiser. Iam so happy with the results and the sun tan, Iam allowed on the SIDC stands now Martin Dad wanted his done Next
wrxmania Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 I know of an R.O. doing exactly the same as you - he was only in it for the tan!
col666 Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 Did mine too, just the usual cheapo wax none of yer fancy 'Clay Bars!' ooh get you![] Left the interior as I couldnt be ersed and it was too hot in there! My old man wanted his done too but told the old poser to get lost! Col. See you all tomorrow[]
spooks Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 Well i did give mine a quick clean but its no where as clean and shiny as your cars guys [] May need to put a tarp on mine in shame. Spooks
oobster Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 Both blue motors on this thread are looking good, but I also spent today doing some work on the shiny car parked outside. Used a clay bar for the 1st time, with Chemical Guys Detailer as the Lubricant. Then came a glaze, then Blackfire wax over the top. Used Poorboys Bold & Brite on the tyres and the scoob is looking shiny.
z1000 Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 So whats clay bar then ? as i washed mine last night but couldn't get half the midges and crap off.

thewelsho Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 Quote So whats clay bar then ? So, what is it? Clay bar?
gus the bus Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 I think I might have a wee job for them[] Ouch! Sorry dear[:$] Gus
oobster Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 Clay bar is like a lump of plasticine that you rub over the paintwork - it removes all the tiny dust & dirt particles that are in your paint - gives a nice smooth finish. Doubt anyone would need to do it unless their car was at least a couple of years old. You need to keep the area your claying wet though - you can use car-wash shampoo i believe, although if you buy the meguiars claybar you get a bottle of "lubraicant" with it. (snigger) Only needs done a couple of times a a year i reckon - check out Rob's polished bliss website - for more details. He sponsors a section of ScoobyNet & his write-ups on what he does & the accompanying pictures are really good for info. He's going to be at F&M tomorrow I believe.
col666 Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 Bed time, see yous at the arse crack of dawn! Need to stop drinking this stuff
dougster Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 Clay Bar, that needs an IRON BAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Welsh you may just be in luck as I have another spare clay bar. Do search as there is loads of information on the benefits of using one. Just ask anyone who felt the smoothness of paintwork on my 110k wagon!!!!
thewelsho Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 Quote Welsh you may just be in luck as I have another spare clay bar. Goody!
dougster Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 John, e-mail me your details and I'll look it out.
