wrxmania Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Yes - with some sadness and many fond memories...the WRX is on its' way to a new home and my new car will be arriving on these shores within a week or two [] I will still be around and attending meets as I do at the moment so not much change, but after nearly three years it is time for a change of scene, some peace and quiet - and some torque'y fun! [] It's a Lexus IS220 diesel SPORT, rear wheel drive with an outrageous equipment list including 18" alloys (255/40's at the back), sport suspension, VDIM selectronic suspension/yaw management with EBD, VSC TRC etc, Alcantara interior, short ratio gearbox, HIDs, electric everything blah blah blah... Some pictures of the same car (not seen mine yet): I will have quite a few parts for sale - including an STI intercooler, STI injectors (pretty much new), brand new Walbro fuel pump, maybe my Origin B2, billet oil filler cap, STI panel filter (used but good), a set of WRX alloys with RE-050 tyres (still 4 mm left on them at least), bonnet lifters (with box - as new) from Scott Lowe, standard WRX exhaust system with cats and an STI backbox, and a Pioneer MP-77 quality CD/MP3 player plus the Impreza CD storage rack for under it. There will be other stuff too I am sure. PM me if interested in any stuff - before I list it all... Hope to have the new car by the end of next week when it arrives in the U.K. See you all at a meet soon...and no, I have no intentions of buying an Impreza at any time in the forseeable future...maybe one day. Brian []
st3ph3n Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 It's a good looking car Brian. Does that mean the Primera goes aswell then? PM regarding the lifters BTW!
wrxmania Posted July 5, 2006 Author Posted July 5, 2006 Jeez - my PM box is bulging already - vultures at the ready []
stephen_fergus Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Sad to see that you've all grown up and become all sensible old-yin [] Best of luck with your new car matey [] Btw .... I touch goats too [] Steve
dougster Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ 19's would be nice. See ya soon bud.
wrxmania Posted July 5, 2006 Author Posted July 5, 2006 Cheers all, I have not grown up I am afraid or I would have bought a sad giffers C180 Merc. This car will be driven as it should be, just very quietly - which will take me some getting used to - my mum won't say "I heard your twin tub coming for miles"!! Lexus Owners Club - I am a Gold Member (for my discounts - 15% labour and 10% parts, upgraded Courtesy Car and comprehensive courtesy car insurance too). My user name is "DieselDoNicely" - was going to be DieselMANIA but does not really have a ring to it [] Brian []
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Nice wagon but taken aback at this decision ! You were just ready to enter the full warranty free brotherhood of modding. You'll never experience your whip with it's cats removed [] Are you retaining your moderator duties my good man ? Liking the gunmetal colour if that's what you've gone for Cheers Cal
wrxmania Posted July 5, 2006 Author Posted July 5, 2006 19's - mmmmm - seem some GORGEOUS Lexus 19's (a bit like Superleggeras which would look awesome - I'll stick to 18's as they'll probably be about £2000 without tyres!). I know you have a penchant for nice 19's [] Brian []
stephen_fergus Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Wondering if it'll be getting the C+C treatment [] [] Steve
wrxmania Posted July 5, 2006 Author Posted July 5, 2006 Yes - bits were waiting, bookings were made etc - BUT had to make the move before I threw my summer and THOOSANDS of pounds at it, then sold it in a year anyway... The colour is Cadoxton Slate - it is a dark gunmetal. And yes - I'll still be around modding in the background, only with lower emissions, more economy and a whispery smooth quietness! And overtaking like a maniac - actually having torque! Brian []
wrxmania Posted July 5, 2006 Author Posted July 5, 2006 Wondering if it'll be getting the C+C treatment [] [] NOT a chance! But yours could - wanna buy my exhaust? [] Brian []
rabskyline Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 i think the modern day 200 miles to the gallon high pressure comon rail direct injection diesel blah blah . are the most boring bits of turd (sorry expensive bits of turd) i have clapped eyes on ! where is the flair, passion, growl presence ! gone gone gone ! comiserations !
wrxmania Posted July 5, 2006 Author Posted July 5, 2006 Everyone has a valid opinion. For me, the flair in car design is not just in the noise or the topline performance.
G.T. Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 shame about selling up but your new motor should numb the pain a bit, and just think no more stopping at every shell garage
wrxmania Posted July 5, 2006 Author Posted July 5, 2006 There is of course always that - not that fuel economy was something that would really ever make me sell the Impreza - was something that was part of the ownership experience. Not cheap to run, but you certainly got your moneys' worth from every tank!
STi_Bandit Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Nice looking motor mate, what size oil burner is it, used to have a 330d sport and the torque in that was awsome left most cars for dead motorway cruising acceleration and lazy overtakes and seeing the 38.0mpg wasnt bad either. Martin
chris_c201 Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Nice cars, always liked the 220's and the new shape is pretty sleek looking.... plus RWD is always good Whats the torque / MPG stats.... Have fun with it anyway...
st3ph3n Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Brian, remember you need to change up MUCH earlier in the revs! The number of times I bounced the company diesels off the rev limiter in my last job was quite a lot. That's what company cars are for though.
oobster Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Sorry to hear your selling up Brian, but orra best with the new motor - first time i seen one of those was on Dalziel and Pascoe and i said to the Mrs thats a cracking-looking car.
sharon_mccall Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Good luck with the new car Brian. Looks stunning. []
wrxmania Posted July 5, 2006 Author Posted July 5, 2006 Thanks for the kind messages and PM's guys []
wrxmania Posted July 5, 2006 Author Posted July 5, 2006 Delivery date is the 10th July - to the U.K. I think so hopefully not many days after that - by the end of next week I am praying - VERY had waiting to pick up a new car - never gets easier! Parts for sale in for sale section Mr. S.! Brian []
