bigdavie Posted June 24, 2006 Author Posted June 24, 2006 now resuming !! where can i get some spigot rings ?? as ive found out thats why i cant go above 80 mph without shaking the car to pieces !! cheers davie !
colin_ross Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 Think H Samuel do these, normally next to the sovereign ones.
colin_ross Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 Sorry Davie. Couldn't resist. Try http://www.performancealloys.com/orings.asp or ebay.
slo2 Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 What are sprigot rings? Are they painfull? Dave glad your asking questions again as its how I ve gotten all my mechanicll knowledge (filled the washer bottle yesterday) You ask the questions, the whizz kidz come up with the answers and I listen n learn (hopefully)
thewelsho Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 Think H Samuel do these, normally next to the sovereign ones. LOL!!!
AlanG Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 "What are sprigot rings?" See link directly above. Davie Are you sure you need spigot rings? Surely the PCD of the wheels would be correct for your car and so the nuts will keep the wheels in check? [*-)]
bigdavie Posted June 25, 2006 Author Posted June 25, 2006 strangely enough i got the spigot rings and its only made a slight improvement to the vibration !! help !!
euan_r Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 sorry for being ignorant but have you checked all other causes balance, bearings, geometry, track rod ends
AlanG Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 Checked wheel balance? If it starts at say 80mph (which you say) but disappears at a higher speed (not that you would of course... [] ), more than likely wheel balance. If not, maybe check all bushes on the front end of the car (track control arms etc)
bigdavie Posted June 25, 2006 Author Posted June 25, 2006 see i thought it was spigots because it only happened when i changed the alloys over and the wheels where balanced when i put the new tyres on ?? dunno maybe take it elsewhere to get balanced again
bigdavie Posted June 25, 2006 Author Posted June 25, 2006 btw took it to national tyres and said to the guy have you got spigot rings mate as i think i need some he said whats spigot rings !!!!!
euan_r Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 if its a complete new set you could change them from back axle to front and vice-versa. dunno just a suggestion

darryl_martin Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 Someone else had some vibration issues on here. Turned out that although the correct weight had been put on the wheel (say 30g) instead of using one 30g weight the garage had used 6x5g weights, causing some of the weight to be stuck in the wrong place, causing vibration.
