seafar99 Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 Went up to the doune hill speed trial today, lots of practice/testing going on for the main event tommorrow. Some serious 600bhp cars well worth the trip through to see as well as the vast variety of highly tuned cars .Action starts about 10am.">http://
dougster Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 I recognise that 31 car.[] I hope to be there tomorrow if I get up in time!!!!!!!!!!
ally-b Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 I heard about a bad prang there yesterday . Sounded like the same car - JohnSt. Did anyone hear any more ? Al.
Ali Mowat Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 I didnt actually make it down. but heard John had a bad one. So im told, he went off at "Meadow" and went side on into a tree at some serious speed. I think he was unhurt, although I am told that the car is totalled. I would guess he will transfer all the kit over to a new shell?
ally-b Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 Thanks Ali , Thats pretty much what I heard too [] I hope he's OK and 'Stevensons Rocket' can be sorted . Al.
seafar99 Posted June 19, 2006 Author Posted June 19, 2006 i've heard today that his accelerator cable got somehow stuck with the turbo kicking in that sent him off and wiping out his near/side on a tree.I spoke to him on the saturday and he was running in a rebuilt engine due to a failure with his last one, glad he's ok but having been up late on friday night to make this event he must be well pissed off.
oz *sti* Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 Sounds like a very bad one, my thoughts go out to you John hope you are o.k.
JohnSt Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Thanks guys, just a bit sore today. Shell is totalled, car will survive thanks to Liam at Glenburgie Subaru coming up trumps with a shell for me, knows how to support motorsport, not just all take like most dealers. There are two 'kinks' as you cross the meadow, they need a feather in the dry to get round never mind the wet, I lifted and the throttle stuck wide open, could have been worse, could have been in the 'Tunnel' . Cage stiffened it up a fair bit, the poor tree is deid though [] http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/8393/pict03823ne.jpg http://img211.imageshack.us/img211/4696/pict03838uo.jpg http://img370.imageshack.us/img370/1518/pict03860eg.jpg
