seafar99 Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 I was there also, cracking day out with a wide variety of cars blasting their way up the hill. A steel barrier on one side and a stonedyke wall on the other.....narrow track........dry conditions..........i have much admiration for some of these drivers , takes quite a bit of balls or madness, the way they were attacking the hill. The smell of petrol and clutches filling the air, the ability to get as close as 3 to 4 feet away from the action. Can't recommend this enough all for the price of £0.00 , and there was a very nice 22b in the car park. Craig.

seafar99 Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 I think i spoke to you briefly after your 'wildish' run after you's had changed you broken driveshaft. You mentioned that 'you were'nt in the best frame of mind' for attacking the hill - personally i thought most of you were out of your minds!
chrissy Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 me n ma dad dropped by for a while, some very nice cars n i was loving the white scoob with the black graphics, i hav a few pic but dunno how to post them lol
iain_spink Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Really enjoyed my day at Doune on Sunday. Good mix of cars competing with some very skilled and sometimes entertaining driving (red scoob, last timed run). The speed of the some of the Caterhams and one particular single seater was awesome, not much room for error on that narrow twisty, armco lined track. Surprised there wasn't more of you's along there as, IMHO, its a far more exciting day than the dragstrip. Make sure to get along to the next one in June as I think its a national day so there should be a few of the 'big boys' there. Highly recommended.
seafar99 Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Ah, so was it your 22b i had a good look over in the car park? If it was it was looking stunning! craig.

iain_spink Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 John, I was standing about 80m before garden gate corner, you seemed to be trying very hard! How did you finish up in your class? Karps, aye I remember, I was going to come over for a crack after my lunch but you left a bit early. Iain.
G.Mac Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 A wee vid clip of John at the start http://media.putfile.com/Gets-away-this-time Ive got some others but havent uploaded them yet Graeme
Ali Mowat Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 John, Im guessing that is your red Subaru? Very cool, I have seen it a couple of times now, I have been told that you might be running a bit more power this year?! I was at the last Doune meet last year and you seemed to be going well there. I remember seeing you coming past me as I was standing just before Junction. I am friends with Stuart Rob junior who is racing his dads old Midget, he got pb and was pretty stoked getting to take his dads Pilbeam back down the hill!! Must be an awesome feeling driving this!! I hear that there was a lot of people setting good times up on last year? Hopefully I will be making it to Doune this season in my Golf if I get enough signitures on my licence. My first event will be Knockhill on May 6th. You doing Knockhill? Ali

JohnSt Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Hi Iain, mangled a drive shaft in practice so only had one timed run, won the class by 1.5sec on 49.something. I had no option but to chuck it up there [] John, I was standing about 80m before garden gate corner, you seemed to be trying very hard! How did you finish up in your class? JohnSt Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 It's not Daves car, was sourced and prepared from/by Liam Woods at Glenburgie Subaru. http://media.putfile.com/Drb5s-old-RA-i-think Graeme
G.Mac Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Fecked that right up didn't I ? That wasn't last practise run was it ? Got the other clipfrom that same run, but didnt have the heart to post it[] Sounds amazing (wanted to take a pic of your engine bay but the fear of a boot in the balls stopped me)!!! Graeme
JohnSt Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Just wondering if it was last practise as it stutters and doesn't seem to launch very quickly, if so that was instant I realised I only had three drive shafts connected. Got the other clipfrom that same run, but didnt have the heart to post it[] Sounds amazing (wanted to take a pic of your engine bay but the fear of a boot in the balls stopped me)!!! Graeme
AlanG Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 Your last run of the day was a clean launch John. My only vids of the day were a smart clean run from the white Impreza followed a few cars later by some guy in a red one who must have taken a wrong turning and was actually looking for the antiques showroom car park.... []
JohnSt Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 I'm actually surprised it still drove with only a viscous centre as AFAIK the ATBs shouldn't put drive to a wheel while the other has no load whatsoever, nice to know that if it happens again I can at least ge tthe car on the trailer. Looks like that wee clip was the same aborted run you filmed Alan. Never did find that car park !!! Your last run of the day was a clean launch John.
