The Optimax Myth

Heard a few story about today, as to why the tanks all over the country are almost empty

1. the fuel that has been put out is the wrong mix, so the tanks need to be drained.  (Reliable source)

2. Shell are running the tanks down to replace with 100 ron, but only a rumouer. (By garage owner)

Its seems the garage owners and staff are in the dark on this one! or are they?

Anybody got any other info?

When I asked @ Camelon yesterday they said the Shell lady had told them that morning they were "adding something new" to it...and delivery would be imminent.

It won't need a remap as it will run fine (maybe a bit better) but if it was remapped then the mapper may get a little bit more power & torque out of the engine []

Indeed it would be great news if it turned out it was being replaced with 100RON stuff, nice timing for me as well having just got the type r. Won't be holding my breath though.

I drove to camelon, cumbernauld and stirling today.  I had a full tank, and all were out of optimax.

Hopefully the camelon woman was acurate, but most of all I will be looking forward to the price going back to normal!!  Gits with any left are robbing us subaru drivers!!!

There are two Shell garages in Hamilton.

One on Wellhall Road, near Phillips Factory and another on Low Waters Road up from Motorsport.

Wellhall Road had optimax yesterday []

My local had ran out aswell tday, and was told there was none in scotland lol, however i managed to get some in Perth, where the garage worker was totaly unaware of any hapenings, strange goings on![]

NO Optimax at Dreghorn on the Edinburgh Bypass, A7 at Gorebridge and at the back end of Easthouses!

A bit of a bugger for me being at the south of Edinburgh, crappy 97ron Super unleaded at the moment.

There are a few in Glasgow that have optimax just now.

Hillington and Renfrew rd both have none

Cumbernauld are also out

I filled up in Elderslie earlier - all pumps had Optimax AND there was an Optimax tanker filling the tanks when I was there []
