Source a TD05 16g, STI 8 Intercooler, Uprated pump 225 L/PH and a Fuel Pressure Regulator

300hp safely for about 700 quid

or

fit a dawes device and crank it right up

300hp for a split second and then BANG.........15 quid

so a new pump and a fuel pressure regulator to start with ??? or all in a oner ?? do i then need another remap ?? wheres the best places to get these things ?? sorry for all the q's but im a turbo novice lol !! oh and does the fuel pump sit in the tank or is it under the car / bonnet cheers !!lol

Fit all of the above in one go and then take the car to AndyF and 300 will be delivered

Pump sits in tank

ASPerformance will supply the pump and reg or Flat4online

Ebay or Scoobynet for the cooler and turbo

hmmm had a fruitless search so far !!!! all too dear !!!

i know i sound like a chav sayin this but is there a cheaper way ?? ie without the turbo ?? as this seems to be the biggest expense ??!! bear in mind im currently without work so dont think of me too badly for wantin the cheapskates route !!

ps anyone got any jobs goin ??!! lol !!

I dont know that much about it tbh mate.

I would think though that a 50 shot of NOS taking you just over the 300 mark wouldnt be any worse than having an orthadox 300bhp going through the engine.

well its just the sudden increase in torque i'm worried about ie immediate !!!! like !! you know ?? although if its viable i would be more than interested to hear about it !! my only reason for concern is my good mate stuart is a tried and tested AA man and he reckons the classic's weakspot is the gear box !! hence the aprehensiveness ! : )

and then blew the gearbox on way home from dastek....so your AA man is spot on i think

fitted an RA box this weekend and it hits the limiter at 7000rpm in 5th at 130mph

not good for road but will be interesting up KH

got nos sitting with 100bhp jets in it....direct port wet!!!...but no point till i get a stronger gearbox....iv heard the sti4-5-6 boxes will hold 420-450bhp with no problems

squirrels the man to ask i think!!!!

  regards and

ps....sorry for not sticking the three comments in one post lol....

You could just fit a fuel pressure regulator, fuel pump and up the boost but this method will sap power as it hideously over fuels.  This is the cheapo method of doing it but it very hit and miss type of tuning technique if you dont have the appropriate tools and monitoring equipment to do the job.  People who do this are only after kudos for parts fitted , oooohhh its got a reg, pump and flamer kit so it must be over 300, when it hits the rollers a rather dissappointing figure is achieved

AndyAdonis, your car comes with a TD05 16g turbo as std the UK 2000 comes with a TD04, i can fart more air than a TD04 can flow. Dinna ask me i know absoloutly hee haw about these things.

Nos puts a strain on a std clutch due to the sudden impact loadings of the NOS activating. Installed wrongly it turns your combustion chamber into an oxy-acetelyne gas torch and melt those std pistons pretty quickly.

Best advice BigDavie would be talk to someone who has got 300 before on a similer car and take it from there.

AND DONT CUT CORNERS as it will come back to bite your bum later in a big way

The chav way is to fit a flamer kit, graphics and a huge wing on the back and make it look as if it has 300hp....IMHO

The proper way is to understand the fuelling needs, the cooling needs and its breathing needs.  Spend the proper money and get the proper parts fitted and then take it too GOD for him to write a nice safe program for all the new bits to sing in harmony

Davie,

The idea i had of NOS was based on the fact that you were looking to do it as cheaply as possible and maybe didnt have the cash jusy now to do it all in a oner.

The answer i should have given you was-

Rome wasnt built in a day !!!!

The enjoyment isnt getting to 300, 400, 500 in one go. the enjoyment is the whole process to getting there..

Once you get to a certain level, the fun stops and you get bored again

My Classic is a UK Turbo (MY00) and has the following modifications; Revolution decat exhaust system, VF 23 Turbo, K&N panel filter. Remap recently by Andy Forrest. Was at Teg Sport rolling road last Thursday and this gave the following figures on the 2nd power run - 315bhp 298lbft torque. Very smooth curves, with max torque from 3500-5400. The ehaust was £400, Turbo £450, Remap £260+vat. I reckon that's great value for money. Only thing is, my brakes need uprating with all that extra power!! Have fun.

get your car rolling roaded at dastek as they always seem to shove bhp on top for good measure

Heard that about AVA too which can upto double your power in one run.
