From Bugeye's onwards, they came with a MUCH better chassis, but the classic's are a bit more raw and hard edged, which makes for a livlier drive.

Best would be a Newage chassis, in a classic. Mint!  [H]

Classic, When my classic had only one mod and that was a decat system, It was pulling the same times down the quarter mile as some of the bigger bhp cars on here, 13.3,  which had a lot more than only a decat and a couple of hundred quide spent on them.

Hit a raw nerve there Paddy, down boy.   But do have to agree, i do think the classic is the quicker car but it all depends if we are talking about imports or UK models????

Lets not forget gearing too - WUZ's Type RA is quicker than 99.9% of the cars in here but his gearing pulls back his quarter mile times.......not that it matters as it's a B-road weapon.

My WRX would benefit greatly from Prodrive springs for the traclk but I am loathed to do it becuase it soaks up B-road bumps with huge easy.....

In gear acceleration must also be considered too.......

But yeah, they all funkin' rock !! [<:))]

I also think there are a few more cars out there that may run more BHP than I do (Gumball, Wilky, AlanG) but in the end it's all about how much you enjoy your own car.

AlanG has said it himself, He looks back now and wishes he stopped modding at 450-500bhp as the car is too fast for him now..

I know that once the new engine, box and ancilliaries are fitted into mine I am stopping right there. There will be faster cars than mine, that will always be the case but I now have a little one to look after as well so priorities change.

I would say that comparing standard cars, the classics win everytime.

even modded classics will be quicker than modded newages with slightly more power so i guess that makes them quicker is the answer.

classics win.[:)]

I agree they are all fast and all handle well in there own way,

But if you want a fast one that handles well, get a classic, sort the brakes and suspension out and do only a few mods, that wont bankrupt yee, And easly have an everyday car with 320 bhp plus,

I do like newage cars and I wouldnt say no to one, infact I used to have one, but I prefere the classic,

By the sounds of your new spec, those 400/400 figures should not be too difficult to obtain.

Good Luck!

ps - I sense a new clutch being ordered in the not too distant future.[:)]

The longer it holds together the more lotto tickets you should buy

Sticking my neck out I'd say a lightweight (1050KG) classic with around 500bhp and a proper gearbox [:)]
