Big Daz Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 I need to take a couple of clients out trout fishing in a couple of weeks, I am a fly fisherman, but usually only fisheries whereas they prefer river fishing.. Does anyone know of any good rivers within 50 or so miles of Dundee which I can get 2/3 rods on for a day? Or even hire a boat also? Cheers Daz
david_taylor Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 My old man is the secretary of the CSAA. They have 5 miles of water from Tyndrum to Crainlarigh. You can buy a permit for 5 notes a day, i think, from any of the pubs or shops in either village. End of april, start of may is when the brown trout fishin really get good. I fly fish it regularly, and the average size ranges from 9 oz to 2 lb. There are also salmon in the river. I hooked one last season on 3 lb line and a size 14 pheasant tail nymph. Bout 9 lbs, but landed it and was well chuffed! Took me 50 mins!!
doorman Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 The river don up in aberdeen, one of the best brown trout rivers in scotland.
iain_spink Posted April 7, 2006 Posted April 7, 2006 I'll second the doormans suggestion, the Don is quality. Alternatively have a look here: www.fishscotland.co.uk
